Barrow Boy's Top 10 Riders
Willowman replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Nobody. I totally agree with you. The comment was make tongue-in-cheek, hence me hiding under a rock in case 'Ipswich Jules' was prompted to have another go. As far as your stats are concerned, they are fine by me. Keep them coming. -

Rebels V Diamonds Fri 28th June
Willowman replied to rustyre bel1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well this meeting must go down as one of the most amazing of the season and as one of those all time classics. Going in to it without Stefan was going to be hard enough as it was but to loose Kyle in his first ride looked like it was all over before it started but then to loose Alex in his first ride too had us believing the Diamonds couldn't fail to win maximum points. But all credit goes to each and everyone who rode for the Rebels tonight. Tom was well on the pace and really unlucky to shed a primary chain while in a scoring position. Lewis did a magnificent job for us and did himself proud. He lost points out to more experienced riders but certainly made them work very hard. Our heatleader trio did us really proud but had to give it all to overcome the Diamonds who pushed us all the way. There were some sublime passes by Doyley and Josh when the chips were down. Nick just got down to business and had one of his best meetings for us tonight. Finally, who would have guessed Alex would have ever been able to walk away from his horror crash let alone take his final two rides and win them. Absolutely awesome. You just cannot put into words how bad the crash actually was, but to come back into the meeting just defies sense. Of course the icing on the cake was taking all of the points too. You just couldn't have scripted that meeting any better. -

Barrow Boy's Top 10 Riders

Steady on there I.J. Surely this is just for a bit of fun. From what is sounds like it is going to be biased towards heat leaders if it is based on points scoring based on the degree of difficulty in a heat. I suppose if 'barrow boy' was to fully reveal his weightings then we would all be arguing over those. Perhaps he could do with doing another based on relative improvement. Then Cameron Heeps would certainly feature alongside Ritchie Worrall and Micky Dyer who would be at the top. It sounds like this is what you are after. After all the title is 'Top 10 Riders' so surely you would expect the best heat leaders to be there? -
I find it remarkable that the riders and the ref can make a judgement on the track after it has been partly bladed without actually stepping out on the track at all. Yes I did see a pile of dirt on the inside because I questioned others about how it would be dealt with. As it happened it was distributed over the track after the blade was used on the outside by using the blade on the inside but in the same direction as the outside. Whether that is the right thing to do or not, I am not qualified to comment. If the track had been inspected after rectification and then it had been announced it was not fit for racing due to damage post blading, then I would have accepted that. The truth is that the riders had decided long before the blading had got near being finished that they were not prepared to race on. If it had been announced that it was too late to complete the meeting then I would have also accepted that. If it was already decided that blading the track would be futile and the track was already unsalvageable and the situation was announced, then I would also have accepted that too. Instead, the track was prepared, looked good, not re-inspected or tested and the meeting abandoned before the rectification was complete. Not acceptable.

A little but only for pleasure. If the track was not safe then riders have raced on many more more hazardous tracks in their careers. I would suggest that they thought the conditions were such that the water would evaporate more quickly than it did. Normally it does, but today it clouded over and the wind dropped. The track was rectified in the end!

Well I would argue as the promotion that it was raceable and safe after the remedial work. As I have repeated, the decision to call it a day was made before Ez had finished the work. They did not come out and inspect the track after the work had finished because Ez hadn't finished when the announcement was made.
-
All the riders. Simple as. Our crowd were absolutely bemused by the decision to call it off. We have definitely seen track conditions much worse at the beginning of a meeting than what the they were like after the remedial work and the meeting progressed as normal. After a few heats the track would settle down well and produce great racing. Yes the track was bad to start with but didn't end up that way. They did not even entertain giving it a go. Something smells.

I hope you posted this from the track? If not then you can't really comment can you? If you did then I see this differently to you. I think that riders from both sides should have taken a spin to see what the track was really like. I think supporters of both sides and the Somerset promotion have been shafted by the riders. We have definately had worse track conditions than tonight after the grading. For goodness sake, the riders had already decided to call it a day before Ez had finished his remedial work. I think you misunderstand my point. The meeting should have continued. I would bet a pound to a penny the track would have been perfect after 2 or 3 heats. Even they would not have been dangerous to ride. I have followed speedway for many years and it should have gone ahead. I feel very sorry for all the fans, Ez and Debbie. RIP British Speedway!
-
Well talk about riders digging a hole to bury British Speedway in. After the track had been bladed there is no way that the meeting should not have gone ahead. I agree that the track had been watered too much and there was some standing water in patches but once bladed it was very raceable. It didn't help Stefan having an off after Ashley Morris powered underneath him and was excluded as a consequence but that was nothing to do with the track. Unfortunately it was just a call that went wrong. If the sun had stayed out and the wind picked up we would have been watering the track later in the meeting.

Ipswich Vs Newcastle Thursday 6th June 7.30pm
Willowman replied to CardinalSin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
To be fair, you would expect a home rider to ride above his average at home to make up for lower scores away!
