  1. Gerchoo cow son . .let's set up a pie n' mash stall and ave a right ole cockney knees up muvva bran in Wales .
  2. Squibbo alas is no longer with us . Remember him as the top New Cross rider when they closed in '63 .
  3. Would probably include Jagus instead of Loram . Rico could force his way into the top 15 this season and would be good to see other Britboys like Bomber and Steady in there .
  4. Crump Adams Andersen N. Pedersen Hancock Jonsson B. Pedersen Nicholls Hampel Gollob Zagar Lindback Jagus Holta Harris
  5. Well done Leigh ....bruv in Adelaide couldn't get to his local meeting at Gillman , so drove the near 500-mile round trip to Mildura . Said it was a superb meeting .
  6. True..especially if you want to get a train to Swindon..there ain't any .
  7. Will be interesting to see if the attendances increase again this year at Cardiff ? Some strange figures from F.I.M...read in SS that the Aussie Grand Prix attracted officially just over 19,000 ?
  8. I went to Samuel Pepys School ,Warburton Road , Brockley in the late 60s . The Ripper , Ray Morton , also went there ( after me ) . Followed Wimbledon then as New Cross had closed .
  9. At least Crumpie is there this year .. should be a real battle with Adams, who's had it fairly easy in recent times . No Sully either . Would prefer to not see Steady and Scottyboy included , as it's the AUSSIE championship .
  10. It seems some of the smaller towns like Workington and Kings Lynn get the biggest attendances . When you compare the catchment area of Belle Vue , the old county of Lancashire has about 10x the population of Cumbria . Yet BV don't get better crowds . Neither do Sheffield , in a densely populated area of Yorkshire , compared to rural Norfolk . Swindon , now supposed to be the best -supported club in Britain, is not exactly a massively populated area ?
  11. Geoff Penniket was the best rider at New Cross , excepting the legendary Squibbo , in their last year '63 .
  12. I think Aberdeen would be too isolated . Southampton is a bigger city and there are over a million peeps within a 20-mile radius . They were one of the top teams before they folded in the early 60s. No other speedway team in Hampshire . The East Midlands triangle of Derby/ Leicester/ Nottingham ( over 2 million ) , does not have a team ..used to be Long Eaton , Leicester there . West Yorkshire ... Leeds , Bradford , Halifax , over a million population .. Bradford , THE team of the early 90s , and Halifax were successful clubs once . London .. Wimbledon , Wembley , New Cross , West Ham , Hackney , Harringay , etc ., once the hotbed of speedway 8 million people .. no team , bloody sad !! Bristol..best supported club in speedway once , still speedwayless . Then there is Hull , Sunderland , Liverpool , all major centres of population, over 250,000 , that maybe could support a club . I'm sure Norwich and Cradley would attract decent crowds . Would like to see a club in south-west Wales ..Swansea ? easier to reach from England , than Scottish highlands .
  13. Don't think Bomber is any better than Simon .. can see him being out of his depth in next years series unfortunately .
  14. That's really p****d me off , Rico and Ulamek being so high in the rankings , would have been higher if they had performed better for Swindon !
  15. If you look at the Elite averages , barring probably Gollob and Hampel , you more or less can pick out the top 15 in the world , and Nicholls is in there .
  16. Have you attended a Cardiff Grand Prix ?, as the noise this year from the British fans when SN won a heat was phenomenal . I have attended England football games and cup finals and that compares to them .
  17. Try getting a train to Swindon after the Grand Prix , there ain't none !!
