Where Was Nicholls
scotty2hotty replied to Speedwayleics's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Who knows, after his disastrous season, perhaps he has taken the opportunity of having no racing for a week, to take a holiday with his family, chill and regroup. But at the end of the day, he was not picked for the GB team, neither was Joe Screen, Simon Stead etc etc and what they do with their free time is none of our business and neither should any of them have to answer to any of us, for what they do with their free time. -

Stop criticsing Charlie. She is obviously enthusiastic and is starting to love her speedway (hence the tears at the end). I think for someone who has only been involved in the sport for a few months and then to be hosting a large event like the World Cup is great. At least she shows some passion. With regard to her questions, I am quite sure that she has standard questions that she has to ask the riders, that are not made up by her, but by Sky. Imagine going into a sport with no knowledge and having to pick it up this quick. Hats off to her!! And give her a break for goodness sake. -

I think she was, she looked very watery eyed. I think she is doing a great job, hosting a major event like this in the first few months of joining the team. Well Done charlie!! -

I don't think that Rob Lyon has any pre conceived ideas that we will win the World Cup or probably even come close. I think his opinion is that we should clear the decks and start from scratch, which I wholeheartedly agree with. We must not expect much from the World Cup for the next year or two, but we are building for the future. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day!! -
Nobody is asking any of you anti Nicholls people to support or even like the guy. What some of us are asking is that you look at the incident in an objective manner. Pretend both riders are riders you don't know, then look again at the footage. If you still come to the same decision, then fair enough. Just try and look past the anti Nicholls red mist for a change.
-
Listen to Talksport now, Scott is on talking about incident.
-
with all due respect, how many riders haven't been involved in some sort of aggro in their career. There have been occasional times when I haven't been able to defend Scott's actions, but on this particular occasion, I believe he was goaded. If you look at the footage you will see Emil talking to Scott and then Scott moves away, Emil then comes back at him, by which time Scott has had enough and who knows what Emil said. At this point Scott wants him to go away, so pushes him gently away, then Emil comes back and pushes Scott. Something Emil said obviously riled Scott big time and I do agree that Scott came across Emil (similar to what he did with Dryml last year) to make him stop so he could have further words with him. Something bad must have been said to Scott to make him do that. I would love to know what Emil said to Scott, as I said it must have been pretty foul for Scott to try and stop Emil to have further words.
-
I am not saying that Scott was right to get involved in the fisticuffs. I know Emil doesn't know much English but I am sure like most foreigners there are certain words he does know and they are not complinentary. Also the finger pointing on the way past Nicholls in the pits and from lip reading it looks like Scott walking forward is saying 'Now', gives the impression that Emil was saying 'I will have you'. May be wrong but look for yourself. If my assumption is correct, what a nice little fellow Emil is. NOT!! Also with regard to the actual riding incident, there wasn't one. Its not as if Scott even rode him to the fence, there was tons of room and this sort of ride was hard but fair and happens every day of the week in speedway racing, thats why its called racing. Whats the point of racing, if you don't try and block riders coming around you, cleanly obviously. This was just a normal race, nothing out of the ordinary from racing we see all the time, so why the big problem? Oh yes I forgot, its Scott Nicholls and he is always wrong. If he had let him pass, then everyone would have got on his back for letting the rider pass too easily. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
-
I'm sorry, but Scott was clearly the victim here. Why is it on this forum that whatever the guy does, it is wrong, whatever happens, somehow it is always his fault. He is arrogant, a thug, jealous, useless, old enough to know better etc etc. On the way home today, I thought that I bet the Forum will be filled with anti Nicholls clap trap and that somehow that incident would be turned round to being Scott's fault and, of course, I was right. Obviously from my avator you know I am a Scott fan, but to be honest, even if the same fight was between Emil and any other rider (even Hans andersen!!), I would still come down on the other rider's side, Emil was clearly in the wrong. Seems to me, the lad is getting a bit too big for his boots, shame really because he is an exceptional talent.

We also had some supporters behind us who were absolutely bladdered. However, they were British. They were stumbling aroind and kept coming along the row and trying to talk to us and pat us on the head, one in particular made quite a nuisance of himself. Although I know they were only drunk, I did feel very uncomfortable with them there, I didn't know what they were gonna do next. My son, who is 20, told one of them to p off. We were right at the top and there were plenty of seats and we moved a couple of times to get away from them, but they still bugged us. Made me laugh though, they were a constant nuisance to us and others all through the meeting, stumbling around and spilling beer everywhere, then one of them decides to light a cigarette, and then an army of security guards came up, shouting and being very aggressive towards them, threatening to kick them out of the stadium. As I said there was plenty of spare seats all around us and them having a cigarette wouldn't have affected anyone, but the heavies come charging in for that and forget about the constant drunken disruption to others. Before anyone says anything I know smoking is forbidden in the Stadium and it was wrong of them to light up, but it just seems so stupid to let them get away with the rest of it, but cause trouble over a cigarette that wasn't gonna hurt anyone. -
I think he was watching where he was going to make sure he didnt touch him, and he didn't.

Hope its only Freddie's pride that is hurt after his failed wheelie attempt on the back straight after he had come second in the Final!! How embarassing, couldn't do it at Wolves or Ipswich or Poole could he, had to be in front of 40,000 people!!!!

Scott certainly looked more relaxed tonight and good on him for winning Heat 18, hopefully helped his confidence a bit.

Both Nicholls and Harris biggest problem is their gating. Now I'm not saying that either of them could conquer the world, but I feel that if Mr Olsen were to prepare a proper racing track, instead of a gaters paradise, then I think it may be a different story. Speedway is about racing, jostling for position, not gate and go and whoever has got the most money can have the fastest bikes, that doesn't interest me one little bit. Both Nicholls and Harris are better riders than we saw at Leszno. Put all of the GP stars on the Scunthorpe track and wow would we have a treat!! But that ain't gonna happen is it, oh well back to the slick gate and go for the next GP. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

Was about ready to switch channels after the first 8 heats, nearly fell asleep and then it was all livened up by the young Russian and Freddie. Nice to see some new faces on the rostrum and to see some new exciting riders coming through, just a shame they are not British. I will always hope that Scott and Bomber will win one day, but am very much looking forward to watching the progress of Emil and Freddie. -

People are going on that Nicholls has issues with Bomber and andersen, how about if Bomber and Andersen actually have issues with Scott. Why is it always Scott;s fault? I have known Scott for many years and yes of course in any sport there are always going to be other riders you dont get on with, the same as us normal people dont sometimes get on with other people at our place of work. I may be slightly biased, but from all of the riders I have ever met, he is one of the most friendly and approachable rdiers you are ever likely to meet. Stop disecting the guys personality, there are many many more ignorant, arrogant and down right dangerous riders out there than Scott Nicholls. -

This post is absolutely ludicrous. Nicholls is a pussycat compared to some others. As for being a bully, why should he take the likes of Dryml in this years GP and Andersen in the World Cup a few years back blatently trying to fence him, would you accept it, I doubt it. He has every right to have some 'handbags' or not shake the guys hand, why the hell should he, would you? Scott has always been a good team man, but when it comes to the GP its each man for himself. -

All of us have the right to support whom we like in any sport. Our opinions are not all the same and it would be a dull world and forum if they were. My own opinion is that I will support the Brits whoever is riding in the GP. I will also support England over Denmark, Australia, Germany or whoever else they may play in Football. I will support England in the cricket, I will support Andy Murray and Lewis Hamilton in their respective sports. I am British and would like to see the Brits do well. My favourite F1 driver used to be Michael Schumacher. I was always torn when him and Damon Hill were tussling, so I was sort of glad if either won, although given the choice it would be the brit first and the german second. Most of all I like to see passion and a real trier. Nicholls is that man for me. Personally I feel that the GP series would be a dull place without him. My opinion only. With regard to Bomber, yes I was a little surprised with his inclusion, but personally I feel he will get his act together next year and hopefully surprise a few people.
