  1. Why are the GP qualifiers never held in this country? Are they scared it might be unfair to the Poles.
  2. I understand some people not being happy about SCott getting another nomination and technically no, he didn't qualify by right so shouldn't be there. I believe he didn't do the qualifiers because he wanted to qualify in the top 8 and that was his goal for 2008. Unfortunately it didn't happen. I suppose some would say I am biased because I am a Scott fan, but at the end of the day, I am British and I want to see the top British rider in the Gps, I want to see someone with grit, determination and passion, which I believe Scott has, thats not to say the others haven't. I want to spend GP nights screaming at the television for Scott to do well. I want to spend Cardiff night with my heart in my mouth, my heart pumping and my brother telling me what is the point in coming if I spend all of Scott's races with my hands over my eyes!! I would much rather watch Scott's exciting, edge of your seat racing, than watch other riders 'pootling' around at the back if they miss the gate. Whether Scott gets a nomination, I suppose we shall just have to wait and see, but in my mind, if he doesn't, he will be a big loss to the excitement of the Gps.
  3. Oh come on Orion, you cannot possibly believe that Ulamek and Walasek will do better in the GP than Nicholls would. Yes they will probably do well in the Polish GPs but thats about it. I suppose we will have to wait and see (assuming Nicholls gets in) but I will eat my hat if either Walasek or Ulamek get any higher than 12th.
  4. I kno biased, but who else is there who is good enough. He only finished 3 points off 8th place and gives us far more entertainment than any of the other Brits.
  5. Found it all a bit boring to be honest. I also thought Speedway racing was about what it says racing, not slick boring racing (most of the time).
  6. Sub, I think what jb is trying to say is, that in 30 years time, people will only remember who was World Champion. There will be a few that stand out like Martin Dugards win, Chris Harris's win and indeed Tomasz around Bydgoszcz, but other than that, time makes people forget who won individual Grand Prix. Of course, every rider wants to be World Champion, they wouldn't be in it otherwise would they?
  7. Lol!! Come on Sub, you got to admit he did do quite well tonight and does seem to be improving. Yes, he still always seems to stumble at the last hurdle, but at least he is getting a lot closer now compared to what he was doing at the start of the year. For what it is worth, I think Tomasz Gollob is a fantastic rider to watch and very skillful. I went to Bydgoszcz last year for my first ever visit and was in awe of the guy, I was up on my feet, going hoarse shouting for him in the Final. I think Tomasz could have been a World Champion and still could, but I sometimes feel his problem is that if he doesn't like the track he doesn't bother. If he put the same amount of effort into all of the other GPs as he does Bydgoszcz, he would be world Champion.
  8. Round One goes to jb. Cue Sub................... oh dear too late!!
  9. Of course, I am not disputing that he was an exceptionally talented rider, there is no doubt about that at all. All I am saying is that if you put the talent and the money together, you have to be onto a winner. I know I will probably get slated for this, but I feel Scott has an awful lot of talent on a speedway bike, he has just learned a lot of bad habits (which I believe Kelvin is trying to put right), but given all the up to date technology and parts, I feel he could be a lot higher up the standings than he is at present. I feel that if he does qualify on merit this year for next year, that we will see a very different Scott Nicholls in next years GP.
  10. I agree with you Spin King, it does get boring with the same old faces winning it all the time. But having said that, they are the top riders in the world, so I suppose they are expected to win. I suppose it all depends on how well off some of these riders are and how much money, time and effort they are prepared to put into their racing. Tony Rickardsson was a very well off man and anything he wanted he could have ie new technology etc. You could tell by the way some riders would just turn up for the GPs with bike and van, whilst Tony always had the latest electrical equipment for measuring bikes performance etc, like they have in F1. I believe Nicki is also going that way, he puts everything he has into his equipment to get the latest up to date technology.
  11. Well done to Greg for winning tonight and to Nicki and Tomasz for the runners up. Also well done to Scotty. Couldn't believe it when he won his first 2 rides and he looked really good and quick. Seems like Kelvin Tatum's advice is starting to show signs of improvement. I believe Scott has changed a number of things, due to Kelvin's advice, some of which he didn't like much, but they are now showing good signs. I noticed tonight, he didn't do his normal locking up on bends. I hope he does get into the Top 8 for next years Grand Prix, but if he doesn't it wont be for the want of trying. Well Done Lad, we British Supporters were proud of you tonight and keep up the good work!!
  12. Scott did ride in Russia the other week for the first time. Last year he was offered a place in a Russian team but turned them down. I do not believe this is to be a regular occurance (riding in Russia).
  13. Scott 'dumped' on his Swedish team because he was 'burnt out'. It might not be the honourable thing to do, but he is not the first to do it and neither will he be the last. It may not work, but at least he is trying to do something positive about the situation. Scott has often been accused of sticking with the same old things, at least he is giving it a go. He is well aware that the last few GPs of this year will probably determine whether he is in the series next year or not, you can't blame the lad for pulling out all the stops surely? Yes I know you wont agree Sub, but in your eyes the 'global superstar' is to blame for most things isn't he? Why don't we blame him for the credit crunch too?
  14. Well I think we will have to agree to differ on that one then Sub, as I know you like to have controversial views on 'the global superstar''the beggar''the former British Champion'. Whatever are you going to do next year if he is not in the GPs, who will be your next intended victim?!!
  15. Slightly different Sub as they were actually on the bend at Cardiff twice, they hadn't even hit the 30 yard marker with this one. 99 times out of a hundred this would have been all four back. I am not suggesting Holta should have been excluded, it should have been all four back, but if anyone had to be excluded it should have been Holta.
  16. Fantastic win for Leigh. Thought it was one of the better GPs for racing.
  17. But he is Polish Sub, are you feeling alright?!!!
  18. Agreed, I fear that even if the roles were reversed, the 'certain mongol warrior' would still have excluded Nicholls!!
  19. However bad Scott rode tonight, it is irrelevant to the fact that that exclusion with Holta was wrong. Holta turned right on him and wiped him out as well as himself.
  20. Team GB did better than I expected tonight to be honest.
  21. It will never happen - politics. Can you imagine what would happen if a team were found to be cheating. The speedway world would be turned upside down. And who would be the biggest losers? And if England ever did it too, who would be the scapegoats?
