  1. If you believe the BBC weather forecast (they're usually right) light rain from 5pm onwards. Silver says he'll run the meeting despite the rain. Be prepared for lots of falls, retirements and slow race times. The weather suits Berwick as they'll only need 12 heats to complete the meeting before they call it a day.
  2. We've had a couple of these at Rye House and they are indeed great occasions. You definitely get a feeling you've arrived. I hope the people of Berwick come out and support this in great numbers.
  3. You obviously don't get around much... When was the last time you saw a meeting there?
  4. Berwick have been awarded one of the World U21 rounds, taking place on August 10th
  5. We've been awful for the majority of the season. Loads of injuries haven't helped and the mix of the team just aint right... I reckon the Bandits have done enough tonight, although it could be close. I'm glad the season is over and certainly won't be venturing over to Hoddsdon tomorrow for the second leg of this trumped up fixture filler. I feel for the Bandits fans having to watch that dire gate and go stuff in sub zero temperatures.
  6. I had a memorable first visit to Plymouth speedway recently. I'd hate to think it could be the last.
  7. Updates http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Berwick&thread=11098&page=1
  8. Just looked at the forecast and you're spot on. Steady rain all day. I hope Len Silvor (deliberate misspelling) kept the receipt for those fireworks
  9. Disappointed, but not surprised. The local rag wouldn't want to embarrass the old boy by showing him up as a bumbling old fool at best, or a liar at worst. Rye House are probably the biggest attraction in the papers circulation area, so they've gotta keep him sweet to gain access for interviews etc.. All of your other points and observations are pretty much spot on Ben
  10. Ahhh, so not the Arsenal legend Nelson Vivas... I'd lost interest in that post before I'd reached mention of that
  11. Doesn't stop anyone from posting their thoughts on the meeting. If anyone was really interested we'd be up to 50 pages by now. The truth is this is just a fixture filler for those sides who have failed. Rye House finished second from bottom of the league. Yes, second bottom, saved from the wooden spoon in the last week. Can't believe how seriously some people are taking this piece of "silverware", almost exclusively Berwick fans I notice. I'll be stunned if this competition is still on the fixture list in 2013.
  12. The blokes a fraud. Inherited a great defence in 1998 and had the pick of the best ever French squad. Players like Henry, Viera, Petit, Pires all fell in his lap, not forgetting one of the worlds best ever footballers, Dennis Bergkamp, who was signed by Bruce Rioch. No trophy since 2005 and not looking like winning anything next year. I've just heard he's on £145K a week! That is astounding. Vivas?
  13. I have an email from your promoter and witnesses to the events. Will that do?
  14. Hope they lose em both, just to p*ss off their promoter who *seemed to* condones violence by Rebels fans towards away supporters and bullying by her stewards. I emailed he to point out these facts, but got a ridiculous email in return basically telling me to hunt out my would be assailant and take it out on him!
  15. Can't disagree with you. I've never hidden who I am and have made many friends at speedway tracks up and down the country. Like you said, this has a downside as you have to be pretty carefull. Len Silver hasn't been fond of me for a while, his sarky comments to me at Berwick this year proved that, but to single me out in the Mercury was pretty low. To call me a constant critic was unfounded too. Rye House isn't what you'd call a friendly club. No supporters club is allowed and there is a definite "them and us" feeling about the place. I make no apogies for comparing Rye House with Berwick, where the promotier, John Anderson, mixes with the away fans on their travels.
  16. Even so Sid, 12 to 15 year olds are still schoolchildren, so not earning. For him to say all kids are free is factually incorrect.
  17. Oh dear. He's either a liar, or is losing his marbles... He also stated that all kids go free... I'm sure it says kids under 5 go free at the entrance gates, the rest pay a fiver, or has that changed? My response has been emailed to the Mercury this evening.
  18. Shows how out of touch he is... I was merely suggesting how he could possibly get a few more through the gate, but as the old boy thinks he's doing such a marvellous job (2nd bottom of the PL and gates down 50% in 2 years) he can stick it up his poop shute!
  19. Couldn't even spell my name correctly!! For a start he's got his facts wrong... He says ALL kids are free, when it's in fact 5's and under. Those from 5 to 15 have to pay a fiver Love to be there, but I'm working Saturday Kevin Doolan has been named as Rockets guest for both meetings
  20. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb63/Shadders_1/IMG_0876-1.jpg
  21. According to some Berwick fans they may not be running next year
  22. Berwick struggled to get crowds in for the PL before they slashed the admission price. There is little or no appetite for NL racing in Berwick, plus there's the enormous distance for all the other NL sides to travel.
  23. Why would Berwick be hosting the Ben Fund if you're not running?
  24. Bit of spice in the Shadders/B4e household to end the season, but frankly I couldn't give a rats, I won't be there. Mr Silver can stick my £16 up his poop shute. What's this good news you're waiting for?
