Tell that to the promotion at Belle Vue, they've got the best track in the world, consistently produces top class speedway racing and yet can't get anywhere close to filling their stadium for a league match with a catchment area of around 2.7 million people -

Doggy, what is she looking for from Speedway? -

It's difficult to know what your friend is looking for then... The match against Scunny had some of the best racing I've seen at BP in years, if she wasn't entertained by that I suspect she doesn't like Speedway and prefers maths -
I totally agree!

I'm all for clubs assembling a team to suit their budgets but there has to be some minimum standard to compete in whatever league. There used to be a minimum limit, not sure there still is though? Didn't Milton Keynes get booted out of the league in the late 80's/ early 90's? Somebody did. This Newcastle team should be in the NL. Some of the names might be recognisable but only because they've been around for a while and not for any achievement: BWD: Never shown anything to suggest he's anything other than a PL reserve, not a CL heat leader Wethers: Solid team journeyman, good for No2 James Wright: Who knew that Charles was going to be the good one! James is a long way off from being the rider he used to be Cleggy: Been around for years, has never moved on from being a decent reserve Starky: Solid team journeyman, maybe a good 3rd heat leader Lee Complin: I'll give him a month Congreve: The next Ivan Mauger? -

That's the benefit of starting earlier at 7pm... as long as you're not stood there waiting for the sun to go down -
You do get the feeling that they could be a key press from it all going horribly wrong one evening though... at least it'll be a new way for me to be deprived of watching a meeting for my bingo card

A commentator that doesn't commentate... that'll please some

Brummies v Leicester KO Cup 2nd leg Wed 6th April
IainB replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
you reap what you sow -
from what I've been to so far: Josh Auty - about the same as a League Match vs Leicester Peter Craven - almost a sell out Leicester vs Scunny - a little disappointing, well down on last year Ben Fund - about the same as a league meeting Peterborough vs Ippo - disappointing for a local derby

KL never slow to pat themselves on the back when they luck into getting it right... but strangely silent when they luck into getting it wrong -

There's a bit of rain about by the looks of the radar, with drizzle forecast for this evening it could be a repeat of the Cat Fight. P'boro v Sheffield 28 June thread... I hope so, that was fun -

On the whole i thought that was a pretty decent production for a first show last night, I've just watched it as I was at Leicester myself. Whoever was on camera duty on turn 4 was a bit shaky, but otherwise i couldn't really fault it, was a lot better than i was expecting. Graphics and captions were good, commentator didn't seem to know who was in a few races and there were no replays... but there wasn't really anything worth replaying tbh. All in all, if that's going to be the production standard for the rest of the season it's well worth the price of a early bird season pass. Did anybody else think the picture of James Shanes looked like wee Jimmy Crankie?
