A Wednesday night in Poole... what a draw!

Haha... I was the exact opposite when Mr Ebdon was officiating, knew I'd be able to get away early, different folks, different strokes. Living in Leicester I was without a local track for about 30 years, so had to travel for my Speedway, so was always happy to get on the road early before the road network closed down for the night
-
That's a shame as it really does depend on what track you go to... there is a hell of a lot of hanging around at Leicester and it's generally a 2 hour package, depending on the sun. Peterborough are generally done and dusted in 90 mins... with a 10 min interval

Is it time for video replays in Speedway? Especially for on the line close finishers when the race points are dished out. Last night on the BSN the replay clearly showed that Summers won heat 3 on the line but the ref gave it the other way. Didn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things but the ref also gave a decision on Monday at Peterborough to Jordan Jenkins when most people i would have thought could see that Dan Thompson got the point... which in the end cost Sheffield an away victory. I know people will throw up cost as a reason not to do it but we live in 2022 and you can easily setup a mobile phone on a tripod to review such close finishes, cost should not be an issue for this.

Great! the year is 2030 and this week it's Berwick A vs Berwick B, with the return fixture next week to decide the final 2 play off spots in the 2 team league to decide the Super Elite Premier Championship Summer League Knock Out Cup. Seriously though... Berwick do seem to be a bit of a go ahead promotion, do they do a lot of promotional activities? And what are the alternatives in the area?

Personally I'm not sure they became unpopular... The quality of the line-ups certainly lessened, clubs closed and race nights changed. If you get a decent line-up and promote it well you can still draw a decent crowd for an individual meeting. I keep mentioning it but the Peter Craven Memorial held on a Monday night in Manchester in March drew a near sell out crowd. Has it? Maybe in this country but not everywhere, USA and Australia spring to mind. The very first match I attended was the Silver Jubilee individual meeting at Leicester in 1977, it was the spectacle, the noise, the smell that drew me in, 4 riders, 4 laps, dirt flying, no brakes... quite a hook! Was a part timer for around a season and a half before really getting into it and that's when the problems start, the more you know about Speedway the more you wish you didn't. For me it's still those very reasons that hooked me in that keep me going today... I just have to put up with all of the other crap and at the moment for me it's still just about worth it. I wouldn't worry, I'm sure at this stage he doesn't really know who is who. It's only when he gets to look into the detail that you'll have some explaining to do... but hopefully by then he'll be addicted!

Stripes (Glasgow) Vs Oxford champ 17th June

If it was down to me I'd make every rider do a victory lap after winning a race, it beats watching the tractor go around the track. It also amazes me how many people in the crowd don't applaud a rider when they do come round on a victory lap... they're often too busy filling their programmes in! -

I do wish Scott Nicholls would do a victory lap once in a while when he wins a race! -

3 memories of Elfield Park: 1) The Dust 2) The land fill poking through the surface of the car park 3) The racing was quite entertaining

Best racing seen on television this year... from Leicester

Perhaps the RS's could be used in a similar KO tournament to be run alongside the senior pairs on the same night, interspersed between the races... Similar to the 4's, when they had reserve races after every 4 heats but their points didn't count. maybe 6 rider handicap races with start positions based on the senior teams points after every 3 races. And the winning RS gains points to be added to the main points of the senior pair

Every obscure rider I've searched for has been there so far... I'm going to try and catch you out though Good Work

Just go on the averages, pull out the highest averaged rider, surely you've got to give them half a chance
