Belle Vue V Sheffield - Mon 26th @ noon
IainB replied to GeneralMelchett's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ps. I was also struggling for breath that much that I wasn't able to inform my club that I wouldn't be riding for them until a few minutes ago by Facebook Messenger. That's a joke for those of you with no sense of humour. Belle Vue really don't help their riders with their wall of silence. -
Spoil sport! And I thought I was being so funny

Kenny Carter? Jason Garrity? Kenni Larsen?

Maybe they're interval entertainment?

Not sure why you keep going on about trolling? You told me I was trolling the other week when you couldn't be arsed to search out the details of Mr Kurtz's previous misdemeanours and then I provided them to you. I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't have a problem with Kurtz being injured, I do have a problem with inconsistent application of the rules and non- information from clubs in what had supposed to be a professional sport. If Speedway had any kind of serious press interest it'd be sunk on day 1, probably best to stay in the doldrums until the promoters can get their houses in order. -

Those of us watching on TV had no idea either and seemingly neither did the TV people, though that's not saying much -

Chris Holder pretty much said that while being interviewed last night. Your official source for this information? ... and they also operate a squad system to cover for missing riders and still operate RR -

I was just about to post exactly the same... until a few minutes ago they were still showing a link selling tickets for yesterday morning's meeting! And now they've got the most minimal match report: "A challenging bank holiday of racing saw the Belle Vue ‘ATPI’ Aces move from fourth to second in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership, ahead of their final meeting at King’s Lynn on August 28." Seriously, that's it. It may go some way to explaining why they've got the best Speedway stadium in the UK, the best race track in the world and can only attract a few hundred people along from Britain's 3rd largest city! -

If he's injured, he's injured, I've not really got a problem with that unless he's blatantly taking the pish... it's the lack of any information that winds me up -

Has there been any official news about Kurtz, his injury and why he wasn't riding tonight? Pretty piss poor in 2024 when it's the easiest thing in the world to put a tweet out about your club captain! #WheresBrady -

When you can't even be bothered to find out what is wrong with Brady Kurtz and you've been in the pits with him earlier in the afternoon and been around the pits all evening with all the riders and managers there's no way on earth you're going to be able to relay the pay off fixture situation to the viewers! -

You know Kurtz has a pass... as seemingly does Tungate, unless The Weasel is on his holidays -

So if they touch the tapes, they don't get a warning? It's only if they move? Still don't know whether the green lights were on when he touched them, maybe the announcer just got it wrong or I misheard -

So looking at the referees scorecard on the SCB website it does look like Mulford was excluded from heat 4 for a "starting offence" and was then subsequently warned in heat 8. Although the spread sheet is not entirely clear what the starting offence was I assume it was for tape touching, so shouldn't Mulford have also been disqualified from heat 8? Also were the green lights on when he touched the tapes in heat 4? Is being disqualified under 2 minutes a starting offence? It would be more helpful if the spreadsheet had different exclusion codes. Blimmin good match though, well worth the trip -

Josh Pickering wow! He's certainly run into some form lately, since he's got his shiny new engine! Got his elbows out this afternoon, should make tonight tastey -

The woman announcer said "before the green lights came on", as long as the 2 mins clock wasn't at zero he shouldn't have been excluded. I can't see the green light or the clock from the back straight but I can certainly hear the announcer! -

If, as the announcer just said, Mulford touched the tapes before the green lights went on, surely he shouldn't have been excluded in heat 4? -
No, but you get the engine noise, which is all part of it for me, couldn't watch on mute... even if I made my own noises 😁 That means paying for it though... not sure I want to pay out any more money on TV subscriptions. I happily watched it when it was on Eurosport, not sure why it isn't anymore. I find that Dave Rowe talks quite fast as well, but strangely when he does it on BSN he seems a bit more calm and for me is probably the best, most knowledgeable commentator. I used to subscribe to Premier Sports when they had Ekstraliga but dropped them when they dropped it.

I would certainly buy into it a bit more if it was televised in the UK with English (or even Ermolenkish) commentary. I watched a little bit of it last night and just couldn't get on with them gabbling away in Polish... gave up in the end and watched some ESS that was available on catch up this month for free on Premier Sports to Virgin Media customers, although not my cup of tea as Alex Raby talks far too quickly for my liking at least it was in English. I can't understand why so many on here watch the Ekstraliga with Polish commentary
