  1. Peterborough is not suited at all, too much else going on..but then you knew that already..
  2. ..each year i keep hoping to see Eric Linden's honours list..Mister this, mister that, mister the other...but sadly another year passes by without...
  3. i suppose things could be worse. We might only have 20 odd competitors, b**gger all overtaking / excitement with the same German winning time after time after time after time...
  4. totally embarrassing. How clubs who fail so dismally to fulfill their basic requirements are allowed back in again year after year without the governing body taking some sort of action is baffling...In most other sports you'd have your license put on hold if you can't cough up money for a meaningful fine ...just shows how desperate things are... how many league matches were they supposed to run???! FFS
  5. pie in the sky then wanting a £10 sport...i wish i had some answers to the money challenges...but i haven't
  6. let's face it - there aren't enough british riders able to cut it at EL/PL standard around at the moment for the no. of teams we have....surely brits will be getting as many rides as they could posssibly want this year..there must NOT be any rules in the way of this...
  7. i know we're all dumbstruck but at least 1. NL riders surely can only benefit with more rides can't they?, it can't be right that we have foreigners at reserve... and 2. it's better than doing nothing. thats the key i think, i've said for ages paying more than £1 per heat is too much
  8. the trouble is even if this works in 2014, what on earth happens the year after?
  9. Over 2013format it is poss that a 2014 PL team could beat a 2014 EL team. I like the idea of bringing the leagues closer together, but we should be calling them the Central league and the less Central league
  10. Is simplifying the rule book out an agenda item? if not it bloody well should be!
  11. personally i'd like to see the centre greens used for this sort of thing. It is very entertaining watching frustrated motorists trying to exit car parks all trying to move the next 5 mm before the next car grabs the space..a cheap interval attraction imv.
  12. i think this whole idea of more corners stinks of chicanery
  13. can anyone remember when an agm wasn't 'The the most important for years'? - i can't.
  14. this is ridiculous.. let each track do what they want. if some don't want yellow paint why should they be forced to use it? if a track has some purple left over then why not let them use that.? the starting marshal can surely point it out before the start of each riders 1st race can't he? Whilst he's at it he can also point out the crowd changes for that day and remind the riders what time their plane leaves. ...We have to stop burdening tracks with unnecessary expense wherever possible.
  15. i'm off to the Quidditch...i've been swept along by it
  16. what i will say is i believe this has more credibility than Norwich....so let's all keep hoping and remain cautiously optimistic....little point in any more bric-bats until something happens..
  17. agreed. he is the best..shame about the track!
  18. i hope the sponsorship includes premier league and we get to see both leagues rather than same old...
  19. Re presentation: I'm afraid that a majority of announcers at tracks are instructed to (or actually do) exist in a bubble. They talk exclusively to home fans and do very little to promote the sport as a whole. Whilst some give results from the past week, why not preview the week ahead and encourage fans to go to another track? Do any actually prepare or do they just turn up and wing it? They are the public face of the promotion and a personality + being informed/knowledgeable is a must. Some employ a 2nd person on the centre green (good) to try and get crowd involved, but other tracks have just 'a voice' from a box...not good enough. And whilst we're at it....Rider interviews ..almost always they cannot be heard over the mike...can't they practice beforehand?
  20. i think its more likely speedway can now agree a deal, maybe less money, but midweeks in the autumn and spring on sky are going to look very different. Perhaps this is why talks are so late in the day....
  21. If i arrange to meet someone then i'll say 'see you on the x bend'. where x = 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th.
  22. the fact that Ford is so much better than his contemporaries means rider control is all the more important so that the sport is protected to some degree form the ineptness of others..
  23. isle of wight competing at PL level for so long was a miracle, getting enough money for an air fence will be another.
