it's the best facility in the country is it? ok, i've an idea ...market Sheffield as the National Stadium to attract major international meetings..should be an incentive for any potential incoming promoters.. after all we badly need a national stadium..especially up north in a big City..can't think of anywhere better,.

Paul Bentley seemed to get better with age -
hmm.. normally i'd agree but with the TS rule we have currently I would argue that the no. of double points scores for each side should be subtracted; and the side with the most 'legitimate' points should prevail...(but then the actual points difference between the two would surely be different, but more likely in favour of the right team).. i think

Riders Plucked From The Crowd

What's the longest time a 2nd halfer ever rode at a track.? Seem to recall Bill Haynes rode at Smallmead for quite a while...though whether he qualified for a testimonial i'm not sure.. -

suppose he might get a mention on sports personality..maybe -
anyone know if the One Direction lads have ever shown any interest? heard on news today their music is pretty irrelevant..it's their mere presence that pulls in the crowd...get them to sign programmes only....better make sure there's an extra print run though.. alternatively can Adam Ellis sing?

40/1 at outset says it all. Stunning. If it happens this will be the most unexpected GP champion, and the most unlikely british world champion ever.... -
if cars were parked bumper to bumper that would be another thing entirely

Kent Kings V Scunthorpe, Eurolink Cup, 22/07/2013

I have said before that badly run tracks are having a drip-feed negative effect on the overall product that is British Speedway. The negativity being generated is bad for all promoters and the sooner some promoters are brought to book to meet minimum requirements the better. Licenses should be suspended when minimum standards are not being met. Apologies no longer wash it. There is a maximum age for referees to officiate and it is high time the same applies to Promoters. -

I reckon we live in the wrong part of the country.. the South East is rapidly turning into a no go area..when i retire i can see me having to travel at my own expense to find a meeting without fear of it being off, curtailed or being raced on a poor surface. -
..the track was down to base half way through first match and there were many falls on 3rd/4th bends resulted as riders tried to go round outside..Oddly far fewer falls in the 2nd match...worried for a while that the junior laddie out on a demo ride after heat 14 of glasgow match was going to cause a long delay when the ambulance took him off the track..last thing we needed with 30 heats to get through..however hid dad took him away eventually so delay not great thankfully.. I think all riders should have their dads present to help out in these situations!..

Toft rode in the 4TT today....you sure he's been released? -
in last nights RH programme Len referred to Kent as their 'sister track'....wonder if the potential air fence probs at the launchpad are making Len think..or am i making 2+2=5?
-
...fair play to the midlands based clubs..it's the ones at either end of the country who have been short-changing the fans with team line-ups and call-offs recently....not sure if one can read anything into this but i always travel up the m40 confident i'm gonna see a meeting....so thank you for that

i am about to watch the 1.5 hour edited version on sunday night...this is preferable to recording the entire prog 'live' IMV...it's just a shame the 2.5 hrs hiatus at RH last night couldn't also have been edited to make it more acceptable! -

I was there last night. New licensing requirements for next season: All tracks to have two ambulances and no.8's obligatory with R/R. Not too much to ask is it? -
as i say, fans of tomorrow (ie young adults) priced out never to return...just you old folks make sure you hang around for a bit so when us middle-agers get there we can still get in for a tenner (or 20 as it will be then!).. ps i'm 55 and working with little prospect of early retirement.

No pay rises and 3% inflation year on year..yet still the sport increases cost of admission, parking, progs....the reason why oap's can afford to go is that their pensions are inflation protected and they get a concessionary rate too! they must wonder what the rest of us are whinging about..recession..what recession? Those baby boomers eh.. They've never had it so good!
