  1. Smederna got thrashed in their first match of the season away to Piraterna (39-51). A very poor showing from Magnus Zetterstrom (0 0 1), and also not kicking up any dirt were Peter Karlsson with 4 points from 4 rides, Grigory Laguta 1 point from 3 rides. Krzysztof Buczkowski was erratic with two wins and three duck eggs. If their top riders can hit form today they could have a good meeting in light of the performances from their reserves in the opening fixture Kenni Larsen with 10 points and Oliver Berntzon who had 7 points from four rides. Elit Vetlanda beat Vargarna in their opener (47-43). Five of their seven heat wins were shared between Jaroslaw Hampel with three of them and reserve Bartosz Zmarzlik grabbing a couple. Martin Vaculik was steady and David Ruud was awful (1 0 1). Thomas H Jonasson and Mikkel Bech Jensen* will both be looking to gain their first race wins of the season. *(hee hee yeah FULL name to avoid confusion lol) Yeah i just had a glance at the cam, didn't think on to check the radar as a couple of forecasts i had glanced at were saying it would be dry for the meeting. Anyway i don't want to become a weatherman so i'll just wait and see what happens when the tv comes on. Do you have any knowledge as to how well or not the track handles rain? Do you presume there is no danger to the meeting?
  2. Don't know if the rain forecast for this morning transpired but it looks dry at the moment in Eskilstuna for the televised match. Incidentally, there are several very good webcam sites for Sweden. The one below covers areas around several speedway tracks and has links to traffic cam networks etc which also helps in seeing current conditions. http://webbkameror.se/webbkameror/index.php http://www.webbkameror.se/webbkameror/eskilstuna/index.php
  3. Oh yeah i remember that now, i presumed they were wrong at the time solely because i had never heard anyone say it before. Clearly it is the way to pronounce his name seeing that's how he says it himself, but nobody is spelling it that way. To be or not to be with Karpov or Karpow, Andreij or Andreiv, Nikolaj or Nikolai. Mind you Ghostwalker has pointed out that some are Swedish spellings. Oh well! for the racecard seeing as it's in Denmark i'll go with the club's spellings on this occasion and give thought to it the next match. Personally, i would have gone with Loktaev too. Incidentally, although not perfect the speedwayresults.com database does a good job on the whole with riders names. 4. What happens if a Russian rider uses cyrillic on his leathers? lol. In Emil's case and others it's not a matter of how they say their name but how they spell it and how others spell it that gets people debating. Well, more a passing observation or question than a debate. I'll always go with the Anglicized versions of names where i know it, i am in England after all and most of the media does the same. So for instance Sayfutdinov it is. Regarding Nicki Pedersen, no names mentioned lol, but on UK tv there is a certain commentator, actually they both might be guilty at times, who during a meeting will say both PEEdersen and PEDersen. Whilst as you mention Nicki might say PETerson, i don't think i've ever heard UK media use that. Certainly the PEE and PED thing is a trifle irksome lol lol.
  5. There isn't a shadow of a doubt that this is the case. No way would this event average 5,000 a meeting over a season of eight months. Not only would it no longer be a one off, 'only chance to see' the sport, many families wouldn't be able to budget for it on such a regular basis over the length of a speedway or other sports season. I used to often have to point that out to stock car fans at Belle Vue.
  6. Let's hope for a good meeting and at least we can rely on Cameron Woodward not to change his name.
  7. Ooooops it crossed my mind there might be a City fan around so decided not to elaborate too much, but forgot about your lot. Hey not my fault you don't make the headlines or lists of honours any more Gee they come back from the adverts and the tractors still going round. This is gonna clash with the British FInal at this rate, last weeks meeting ended earlier. Heat 13 a key 5-1 for the visitors. I thought the Bjerre brothers would make a better fist of it than that.
  8. It's a Karma 'Ying and Yang thing' to balance up the universe, you got these two trying to counterbalance Nigel and Kelvin lol. Believe me these two wouldn't get animated if a nuclear bomb went off next to them. Yeah it did cross my mind initially about leaving an extra line, i do it on the Swedish cards i think. It won't be hard to add one. Tofty given a reserve ride over Steen, would have thought they could have given the latter bit more of a chance to get going. Off topic, Wayne Rooney got a few boos when lifting the Premier League trophy, i got the parade on in the background. The (non)speed of the forum is making it torturous to try and make a post.
  9. Lol. Mads did alright in the first race nearly getting second after starting from the handicap. Bech mentioned 'set up' amongst his Danish in that tv interview. You gotta blame something i guess, if he improves the rest of the meeting i'll accept his excuse. Incidentally, it is my first Danish racecard and i'll have to find out what's going on with some of the gate positions. I've got the official DMU document in front of me and they aren't following suit. No biggie you can see where they start by those helmet colour things lol.

  11. Just been on the DMU website and in their article on the first leg of the Danish Championship next friday in the text they refer to Mikkel B Jensen and in the rider line-up list they have Mikkel Bech. Gee never knew about the Kenni Larsen/Arendt confusion. My God are they all trying to avoid tax, child maintenance payments, bailiffs or Interpol? lol.
  12. Greatly looking forward to this a week on Friday. This is one of the tastiest national championships we have in speedway. It also awards four places for the 2014 SGP qualifying rounds. Kenneth Bjerre is only a reserve too. The information below is what i have gleaned from the official 2013 regulations via Google Translate, they will need confirming by one of our Danish fans. Last season media outlets both general and speedway ones, also clubs websites home and abroad gave varying accounts as to the scoring system, if i remember rightly even the Kanal Sport broadcast had problems. Finals: The event takes place over 2 meetings. There are separate draws for both finals. Final 1 is in Slangerup Friday, 24th, May. (6pm 5:30pm UK time) Final 2 is in Holstedt Friday, 30th, August (5pm UK time) Meeting format: Final 1. 20 heats followed by a final heat 21 consisting of the top four scorers. On the day of the first final it only serves for deciding prize money. Final 2. 20 heats followed by a final heat 21 consisting of the top four scorers over BOTH finals. The points in this race are added to the rider's totals over the two meetings. To summarize the championship is decided by points scored in three sections Heats 1-20 of final 1. Heats 1-20 of final 2. Heat 21 of final 2. FINAL 1 LINE-UP (remains to be seen if Nicki Pedersen rides) Niels Kr Iversen Nicki Pedersen Leon Madsen Mads Korneliussen Hans Andersen Michael Jepsen Jensen Kenni Larsen Peter Kildemand Patrick Hougaard Morten Risager Bjarne Pedersen Nicklas Porsing Mikkel Michelsen Nicolai Klindt Rene Bach Mikkel Bech Kenneth Bjerre (reserve) Jesper B Monberg (reserve)
  13. Nice to see that Greg Hancock and Emil Sayfutdinov are expected to make their season debuts in the Elitserien this week after being absent last week.
  14. Bloody Hell! lol lol. Thank you very much for that info. Don't see why anyone would have got confused, but bet you many are confused now lol. To make matters worse on his website he uses both names Mikkel Bech in several places and also the older name such as in Speedwaykøreren Mikkel B Jensen betegnes som fremtidens mand i dansk speedway. Find info, billeder, videor og meget mere på siden. In his profile he has FULL NAME: Mikkel Bech Jensen. So the solution is simple! Mikkel Bech Jensen it is in the hope that catches all, including those who are unaware such as SVEMO!!! I haven't got time right now but an easy way to check is to view his rider registration in the countries he rides in.....and hope he's not got a mixture of failing to update in some countries and not others? Incidentally, i take it he is the Mikkel Bech riding at number two for Esbjerg on Monday, i have him as Mikkel Bech in that one as the Danish authorities list him as that. See what i mean about only updating some of his registrations, or maybe a case of authorities not updating their rider database they use for their websites?

  16. Ditto the Welcome Back. I was just about to offer thanks to R&R for the speed in setting up this thread now that the teams have just been announced. TV meeting racecard AVAILABLE NOW FREE MiniMax Racecard Elitserien Ikaros Smederna Vs Elit Vetlanda Tuesday, 14th, May, 2013 All Elitserien MiniMax racecards are initially available with the officially announced provisional line-ups. I will then check for any changes shortly before the match commences and make any amendments accordingly. It's your choice as to whether you wish to print out on the provisional line-ups or wait. UPDATE Count mine as PROVISIONAL. I've just noticed Ghostwalker has Mikkel Bech at number two for Elit Vetlanda whilst i copied the official line-ups and have Mikkel B Jensen in that spot. I'll investigate further for nes of injuries or changes. Unless Ghostwalker is still around to tell us what gives. Ok i see Smederna's site go with Ghostwalker too. I'll check a couple of other sources and likely change mine to that, i'll see if i can find out what the change is, unless Ghostwalker informs us with his upcoming 'info' Lol, i'm changing nothing as a quick Google tells me that Ghostwalker's and Ikaros Smederna's websites Mikkel Bech and Svemo's Mikkel B Jensen are one and the same lol. I'm starting to get irritated with all these triple part Scandinavian names. It's bad enough trying to figure out whether they have a double-barrelled surname at times or showing the middle christian name due to sharing a very common name with someone else in the sport..
  17. I thought you were resident in Poland Pawel. I used to read match reports from those two Canadian tracks. Credit to you that you managed to seek them out and go along to meetings.
  18. Yeah R & R that's what i said above, i've never doubted it until i had a look at the racecard linked to by the official site. On reflection, i think it's clear now that that card is just wrongly formatted in it's layout and has the gate number and rider numbers inverted, no biggie. Incidentally, the make-up of the teams is as follows: (a refresher if this has been given before) All drivers are in season opener assigned a category (A, B, C or D), where A is the absolute top drivers, B-drivers are the drivers which is just below the absolute elite C-drivers are drivers with a certain experience while D-drivers primarily the new Danish talents. Team total value shall be 24 and must be at least 19 Includes: A drivers with the value 8 B drivers with the value 6 C riders with the value 3 D drivers of value 1 There must be max. be an A-running team. There must be max. to be three B-riders on the team. There must be max. be three drivers who are not Danish parent club and Danish license. The team must consist of at least a D-drivers or alternatively a U21-running Danish parent club and Danish license. Apologies my posts are getting spaced out, there was a short occasion one couldn't use the break line, but the glitch now is with the line spacing.
  19. Lol very good post and vitally informative, i'll adjust my tour of USA tracks accordingly (then again Latino Ladies can be quite beautiful and they may have start line girls...ok unlikely they do). Have a safe flight mate. Make sure you tell the pilot not to fly too low approaching the airport as those thieving scallies in the suburbs will whip of the tyres from the undercarriage.
  20. Many thanks for printing that out pandorum and Gray for finding it.. Looks like they've pasted from the official regulations in the document that i referred to in my last post. Thing is, the above section like i said looks relatively coherent but......if you refer to where they mention exceptions - they have in brackets at the end of the lines above a reference to further regulations - wow i got so lost it was unfathomable. They have several grids showing the exceptions, maybe i was just too busy/tired to take it in? Looking at what you've posted above, i'll re-read the section later that begins with "Substitutes with the numbers..." as that may be a verbalization of the grids, in which case second dollop of thanks for finding that to Gray and pandorum for printing it. One thing i can do that might be of help is give the following. I think i've got the helmet colours correct presuming that in the translated cyrilic it had K, C, B, F and i've changed that to R, B, W, Y. as three of those converted to latin were pretty certain to represent what i thought. RUSSIAN LEAGUE Heat/Rider number/Helmet Colour 1~~~ 9 R, 1 W, 10 B, 2 Y. 2~~~ 13 R, 3 W, 14 B, 4 Y. 3~~~ 1 W, 11 R, 2 Y, 12 B. 4~~~ 3 W, 9 R, 4 Y, 10 B. Break 5~~~ 14 R, 5 W, 13 B, 6 Y. 6~~~ 2 W 12 R 1 Y 11 B 7~~~ 10 R, 4 W, 9 B, 3 Y. Break 8~~~ 11 R, 3 W, 12 B, 4 Y. 9~~~ 6 W 13, R 5, Y, 14 B. 10~~~ 1W, 9 R, 2 Y, 10 B. Break 11~~~ 12 R, 6 W, 11 B, 5 Y. 12~~~ 3 W, 10 R, 4 Y, 9 B. 13~~~ 11 R, 1W, 12 B, 2 Y. Break 14~~~ 4 W, 12 R, 3 Y, 11 B. 15~~~ 10 R, 2 W, 9 B, Y 1. Home team 9-16 and reserves 15 & 16 Red & Blue Away team 1-8 and reserves 7 & 8 White & Yellow You'll have to check during the next televised meeting if the above is correct only i had to presume there were a couple of typos in the converting of the document, especially Yellow in Heat 15. Incidentally i would print the official regulations at source only Google Chrome doesn't seem to allow you to copy and paste the translated DOCUMENT. I know it's simple to copy and paste normally in Google Chrome but it seems to prevent you doing the same with a pdf document. However, if you have the inkling to do so the three steps in my previous post does come up with the official regulations in readable English.
  21. Weather forecast at the moment for tomorrow afternoon and early evening is risk of rain followed by risk of light rain. A couple of others have no rain then light rain, so we should be good. I can indeed manage to do racecards for both of the matches on Monday and Wednesday. Although the actual racecard won't be affected in that they are the two nominated heats, there does seem to be a conflict from the racecard that was linked to on the official site of the league the other week. It's of the grid style design and in the column headings above the nominated heats 13 and 14 it reads: Heat 13 HOME 2-4 AWAY 1-3 Heat 14 HOME 1-3 AWAY 2-4 However, according to the official site (via Google Translate hmmm lol); Heat 13: Consists of two of each team's three lowest scorers, Including bonus and joker points. Heat 14: Consists of each team's two highest scorer's, including bonus and joker points. At first i thought the 2-4 and 1-3 must clearly be referring to gate positions (it may well very likely indeed be the case), however they are printed on the line that contains heat numbers. Then to confuse matters further on the line above the 2-4 and 1-3 are the the numbers 13 and 14, so i'm inclined to think that they are the gate draws. So we shall see what transpires, however, it does not affect the racecard's heat line-ups as the nominated ones are obviously empty. After seeing what happens on Monday the card for Wednesday will have the heats 13 and 14 clarified. Too be honest as i'm typing this it does seem as they are the gate numbers. If anyone can confirm this i'll go ahead and add them to Monday's card. As with the Swedish ones i'll make them available using the officially declared teams and then if there is news of any late team changes i'll update them. Great to have two matches this week. Nice to hear and clearly the Danish youth conveyor belt shows no sign of abating.
  22. My God man! stand up and do your duty for your country.......you want him to commit to speedway......it's simple.......show him a picture of the SGP Monster girls!
  23. I don't think it's quite a wasteland as you think Alan. Although weighing up the population of the United States to speedway attendances you are more likely to bump into someone on the street who can explain Quantum Physics in minute detail than tell you they have been to a speedway meeting lol. In California: Every Wednesday: Industry Hills (they staged the very successful Monster event a few months ago) Every Friday: Auburn Every Friday: San Bernadino Every Saturday: Costa Mesa Other tracks staging meetings or 'a' meeting in Cali are: Victorville, Ventura, also i think Perris will stage the American Longtrack championship. Indiana: Indianapolis New York: Owego Florida: Mesa Park, Fellsmere I think there are a few more dotted here and there but haven't got the time right now to check and it's not an American speedway thread anyway lol. Incidentally, whilst entering Speedway into an American search engine of any kind will result in Nascar/Motor Car racing there are a vast number of local dirt track stadiums that sprint cars race on. I recently saw a list giving details of 1,000 of them. There seem to be as many local dirt tracks as there are local football pitches in the UK, ok a slight exaggeration lol. The network is always there for some Middle Eastern billionaire who wants to set up a sport, or even a group of 'Promoters' to set up a speedway club league. One would hope that the local team aspect would work better than mindnumbing scratch races.
  24. Lol re Torun. Ah! ok just read the preview, the season hadn't started yet you know lol.
  25. Agree totally with the absolute windfall of publicity, many sports would have begged and crawled on their hands and knees for the 'televised hours' speedway has had. Kept meaning to ask who is this Shakespeare bloke you and others have mentioned, does he live down your street or summat! lol. Hey just think in a hundred years time that phrase will be replaced by people saying it's a tragedy of GoSpeed International proportions. hee hee.
