Great Venue Terrible Track
tarabanko replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
These tracks that are down for one evening isnt brilliant, has it ever been that? The first heats was processional. The crashes that occured tonight can you blame the track for in 90 percent, if you werent 1 st you were almost dead in the back,,.. -

The Ref Is A Clown.
tarabanko replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The same ref was in charge in Eskilstuna and he holded the tapes for long there to. Some decisions the ref maked tonight was really bad, shame to these lads who are paying lots of £££££££££ to be in the gp and then be excluded then theyd shouldnt. -
Congratulations Tony Rickardsson

Cardiff Attendance

Talking of crowds, the crowd at the 1976 World Final in Poland drew 120.000 peoples. I think it was a special train going from England to the town of the Slaski Stadium. -

Slovenian GP
tarabanko replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Most of the races was boring, just follow the leader. Antonio Lindbäck was harsly excluded then he went down in a hard first corner. The referee was inconsistent. Rickardsson was pulling at the tapes and the heat was not rerun, then in another heat a rider moved and the heat was rerun, the situation was the same. But Antonios exclusion was wrong, should have been all 4 back there. The last three heats was the really intresting ones, the other 20 was Id say pretty boring. The track length have a big inclusion in the racing. The GP at Eskilstuna was a real speedwaymeeting, with good racing. Good win for Tony Rickardsson though who was in a class of his own,,,, again!! Tony should have been on 75 points if not Nicki Pedersen had knocked of Bjarne in the finalheat in Eskilstuna. Cheers Mikael Johnsson -

Tommy Jansson sadly gone but missed alot over here in Eskilstuna. Its hard to think its 29 years ago that dreadful wednesday in heat 3 at Gubbängens Ip. I was going in the first degree then 29 years ago, and remember breifly the lost of the son of Eskilstuna, the vacuum that was around speedway in Eskilstuna and Speedway generally in Sweden. There is coming a book about Tommy in about two weeks time written by Magnus Nyström. There are memories there from his father Joel, Tommys girl Eva Lotta and more. I got alot of paper cuttings about Tommy Jansson, if someone is intrested I are more than happy to scan in them.... The time in the final heat was: 61.6 I see that no one has seen the bottle been throwd at Jason Crump at the parade after the final. You may have seen that Jason was pointing with his flag into the audience? Jason was not hitted but the brand new BMW that Jason sat in. They got the man who throwd the bottle. I do hope the man is not from Eskilstuna. So really stupid done of him. The meeting then was really good, close and hard racing. Tony Rickardsson was a man on mission, damn so good he was yesterday, shame that he didnt win the final. Cant describe the sound then Rickardsson overtook first Andreas Jonsson and then Kenneth Bjerre, it was gooseskin all over. The crowd reported was 15.000 and dont know if it are correct but there was a massive crowd. Cheers Mikael Johnsson Eskilstuna
