Speedyguy, since the Bradford Bulls 'developed' the stadium there is no chance for speedway to return to Odsal as they have built on or around the 3rd and 4th bend, the attached link shoudl show the stadium as it looks now. http://www.bradfordbulls.co.uk/bb_stadium_...sp?stadiumid=18 As for speedway in West Yorkshire, they are currently looking at venues in the Halifax area, so best wishes to Mr Hayes and his team with their venture

How Long Can They Go On?
Jez replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think the major thing that will affect these guys is if they get a knock, which when they were a few years younger might have kept them out for a week a two, will now keep them out a hell'uva lot longer (creaking bones and all that). As foir technical ability IMHO there is still a massive gap between the likes of TRick, Gollob, Adams, Nicki P and Crumpy to say the like of the next bracket, Andersen, Scotty, Toninho -
Might be showing my age a bit now, but when I started going to speedway in the early 80's if a rider veered (sp?) to the left or right and halted another riders progress within 30mts of the start he was excluded (or should have been). As much as I like TRick that was bang out of order in heat 24 and he should have been thrown out of the race

If Adams rode like that every time, how many times would he have been World Champion by now

Who Was That On Thursday Night At Owlerton?
Jez replied to Jez's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Thats the lad, cant believe how smooth he looked -
Went to watch teh Sheffield v Workington match and stopped to watch the young 'uns having a blast around the circuit, normally after heat 15 I set off home. There was one of them that really caught my eye, must have only been reallt young as the bike looked massive compared to his little frame, he wore red and balck leathers with a bike with red guards, nothing fancy. His style was superb and couldn't half slide it round the bends, just wonder if thats another one off the sheffield training conveyor belt. One point thhough that always sort of bugs me with the young ones trying their hand is that they are more bothered about flashy kevlars, bikes, helmets etc when they struggle to actually ride the bikes, surely that should all come when they are competent on teh bike or is that just me!?!?

Funneist choice of transport I've seen was what Sean Wilson turned up to Bradford in a few years before they closed. Relient Robin with a trailer attached which was pure genius, but to top it off there was a blow up doll in the passenger seat, you had to see it to believe it

Try www.speedwayplus.co.uk they have a good selection of defuncy track piccys. Can only speak about Halifax (The Shay) the stadium is currently used by Halifax Town and Halifax Rugby League, the stadium has been semi developed and the squared off so no chance of speedway returning to the Shay.

The most memorable Halifax junior was Kevin Bellfield, especially when he nearly mowed then junior manager (Trevor Hardacre??) over on the centre green after clipping the fence near the start line. Anyway back to the post, didn't Kenny Young used to sell speedway spares?? Seem to remember him being based in Lightcliffe

Thought he went to support Poole, can remember Sky showing him at Wimbourne Road a few seasons ago

Well in the 90's it has to be Bradford. Countless KO Cup wins, an Elite League title, Gold Cup North, Gold Cup and BSPA Cup, with a couple of close finishes in the league and a few KO Cup semi final's thrown in for good measure.

Campsites for W/C
Jez replied to David_Furniture's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
David, I can recommend 'Beacon Hill' campsite which is about 3 miles outside Poole. We will be stopping there Friday to Monday, so better not chuck it down, LOL
