  1. Might be showing my age a bit now, but when I started going to speedway in the early 80's if a rider veered (sp?) to the left or right and halted another riders progress within 30mts of the start he was excluded (or should have been). As much as I like TRick that was bang out of order in heat 24 and he should have been thrown out of the race
  2. If Adams rode like that every time, how many times would he have been World Champion by now
  3. Went to watch teh Sheffield v Workington match and stopped to watch the young 'uns having a blast around the circuit, normally after heat 15 I set off home. There was one of them that really caught my eye, must have only been reallt young as the bike looked massive compared to his little frame, he wore red and balck leathers with a bike with red guards, nothing fancy. His style was superb and couldn't half slide it round the bends, just wonder if thats another one off the sheffield training conveyor belt. One point thhough that always sort of bugs me with the young ones trying their hand is that they are more bothered about flashy kevlars, bikes, helmets etc when they struggle to actually ride the bikes, surely that should all come when they are competent on teh bike or is that just me!?!?
  4. Funneist choice of transport I've seen was what Sean Wilson turned up to Bradford in a few years before they closed. Relient Robin with a trailer attached which was pure genius, but to top it off there was a blow up doll in the passenger seat, you had to see it to believe it
  5. Try www.speedwayplus.co.uk they have a good selection of defuncy track piccys. Can only speak about Halifax (The Shay) the stadium is currently used by Halifax Town and Halifax Rugby League, the stadium has been semi developed and the squared off so no chance of speedway returning to the Shay.
  6. The most memorable Halifax junior was Kevin Bellfield, especially when he nearly mowed then junior manager (Trevor Hardacre??) over on the centre green after clipping the fence near the start line. Anyway back to the post, didn't Kenny Young used to sell speedway spares?? Seem to remember him being based in Lightcliffe

    Best Northern side

Well in the 90's it has to be Bradford. Countless KO Cup wins, an Elite League title, Gold Cup North, Gold Cup and BSPA Cup, with a couple of close finishes in the league and a few KO Cup semi final's thrown in for good measure.
  12. David, I can recommend 'Beacon Hill' campsite which is about 3 miles outside Poole. We will be stopping there Friday to Monday, so better not chuck it down, LOL
  13. From what everyone's posting the 'seating' tickets are all but gone, but what about 'standing'?? We are coming down on Friday until Monday to camp down in delightful Dorset and it would be rude not to come to the Final Only thing is it isn't pay day until the end of July and wondered if I will be able to get away with buying standing tickets on the door, rather than forking out for then now. Anyone any ideas if the Final is gonna be a total sellout???
  14. I have complained about my seat. In L4 but the view of the home straight/tapes area was obstructed by the scaffolding that had been put up neat the pits entrance, just waiting for a reply now.
  15. Not a Hans or Rune fan so unbiased view here. Six and two three's for the majority of the race, but Hans just went a bit too hard into the 1st turn and clipped Rune's leg. They both knocked lumps out of each other for the previous laps and we have all seen incidents like that wehre a rider id clipped and goes down. We could have umpteen (sp) threads liek this i.e. 'Rune Holta is a Dirty Rider' becuase he tried to fence Hans on the previous lap etc etc.
  16. Having booked at the Hilton for £130 I've been on the look out since for cheaper accomodation and from looking on www.opodo.co.uk and www.lastminute.com I have noticed that both sites are advertising room at the Holiday Inn next to the stadium. Snap em up people if you haven't got anywhere booked yet
  17. Staying at the Hilton (Cardif) for the GP on Saturday night.
  18. Went to Gothenburg with the better half in January for a weekend and to say its costlt is an under statement. In the bars we went in it was about £2.50 - £4 for ½ a pint , not really the place to have a few sherbets before going to the meeting. The food prices weren't that bad, it cost us between £50-£60 for a three course meal for two with drinks in a couple of restaraunts we went to. Must admit though it's a nice place, wish I was going but going on my jollies instead
  19. I was on that trip with my mum and dad!! Small world, can remember stopping at at little town and it was belting it down, think it was the day before the World Final and then stopping at a hotel in Vlissingen?? I think!! We stood on the exit of turn 2 and even managed to get on the World of Sport when it showed the meeting
  20. Ditto Better get 2 sausages for the price I've just paid, LOL
  21. 201 - Peter Carr & Lance King 202 - Phill Collins & Petr Ondrasik???? 211 - Martin Dixon
