    Halifax Dukes

Me!!!! From August 1981 until the relocation to Bradford
  9. Just got back from Gothenburg so I am assuming the prices there will be the same as Malmo, all I can say is take a big fat wallet with you, £3.75 for 40cl (just over ½ a pint) of lager!!!!!
  10. No matter how many times I watch it he still takes hoim out big style. There's one person here who wont being going to watch BP on ice, lol
  11. Just watched the KC British Final race again today and it still sends shivers done my back watching it. The guy who is jumping up and down in the white top on the enterence of the 3rd bend on the 1st and 2nd laps makes me laugh, bet he was crying at the end of the race

Great, I hope its the race where King Kenny "carved the Collins boys to peices" as a certain Mr Lanning said.
  13. I dont think you can compare the two riders at all. Two totally different era's of speedway with different rules, machines etc. Only think you can compare riders who have ridden at the same time where there is stability in rules, tracks, machines etc.
  14. Apart from Cardiff, which GP's are people planning to attend for 2004? I fancy Gothenburg and Krsko this year for a change. Done Copenhagen and Cardiff last year and fancy a change for my away trip
  15. More of a body warmer actually Steve
  16. The only reason I got it Steve was due to the 'Homefire' sponsership all over his leathers (Shirra, Doncaster & Dugard all sponsored by British Smokeless Fuels ) and when I looked back in my 1992 yearbook there was a picture of the England, oops sorry Great Britain team from the WTC Final in Kumla Sweden Dugard and all.

  18. I would agree with you there Falcace, looks more like Jan Andersson to me too
  19. 128 - Steve Baker 136 - Phil White
  20. Andrew thats cos ex Dukes fans would support Sheffield any day of the week as our only alternative is to go to Kirky Lane, no thank you :!:
  21. From what I remember there was a competition for local schools to design a race jacket and it just needed to say 'Dukes' and 'Coalite' (then sponsers) on it the rest was imagination The so called cross went after a few years and was replaced by a crown on a ble and red shield sort of design.
  22. The reason for the elephant is because the team took the emblem of the Halifax based Duke of Wellington army regiment, so full marks to Andrew, therefore the elephant appeared on the race jacket and the teams nickname became the dukes.
  23. From what I have been told DFDS (mini cruise co) are putting their prices for 2004 online in the next few days if anyone is interested in going to Gothenberg this might be a cheaper option than flying. www.dfds.co.uk
  24. Yeah then they sold him to Halifax/Bradford and he was (errrmm got to be polite!!) not very good home or away
