Congratulations Middlo Bashers
Vincent Vega replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Shazzy Middlo deserved to go he knew it thats why he did the honourable thing and resigned. They should never have given the job to Jim. Rosco is yer man ex rider with a lot of passion and would kick backsides aswell. JL should tender his resignation tomorrow morning and let Rosco take over for the Race off. Sorry I forgot yer birthday Love VV XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX -
World Cup Squads
Vincent Vega replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks SS. Sweden have got a worse team than us surely PK and Lindback should be in the side ahead of Ljung and Davidson even though Jonas has been riding well for us this season. Shields should be in the team ahead of Sullivan. Poland and Denmark look nailed on for the top 2 spots IMHO. -
Have the Aussie, Danish and Swedish GP squads been announced yet? Thanks

With the World Cup qualifier just over a week away team GB seem to have a few injury problems. Nicholls shoulder injury Woffinden didnt ride for Rye last night, Bomber and Allen still injured and not riding for Coventry. I am sure they will all be there at Brandon on 14 July but if they are not 100% has Lynchy got riders on standby?

Remember reading a few months ago about Michael Lees book coming out this year does anyone know when it is going to be published?
-
Winning the British GP could have been the worse thing to happen to Bomber. Ever since everyone has expected too much of him. The Sky mob went well over the top afterwards last year saying he could win the title stuff like that. He seems like a shy fella and then they use him on that god awful advert where he looks like a complete muppet. Sky leave Bomber alone let get on with things quietly and he will improve the fella is under too much pressure.

Olsen Must Go
Vincent Vega replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Even the plonker that put together the Mildenhall 2008 whipping boys could do a better job!!! -
Its time for Ole Olsen to stand down tonights track is a disgrace. The geezer has been in the job too long he is even more miserable than Pete Adams which is bloody difficult. Do the right thing Ole me old son hand yer resignation in and let someone else run the GPs.

Going back to the original topic what do people think was the best meeting they saw at Waterden Road is there one particular match that sticks in the memory?
-
It has been great reading everyones different memories of the old place. What was the best meeting everyone remembers at the Wick? I would have to go for the Ko Cup Semi Final vs Ellesmere Port 1985 I think when the Kestrels had to pull back a massive deficit from the first leg and nearly did it.
-
Steve Yeah the G was rather large always used to drink Diet Coke though!! Keith Wheeldon ran the track shop for a while but I also remember Tom working in there who used to do the Arena track shop with Alf Wheeldon aswell. Also remember Mark Lorams dad Paul doing some announcing aswell and of course always enjoyed reading the excellent Bird Brain every week mentioning Old Williamson!!! VV

Bryn I am pretty sure that one season could have been 1988 at the end of season fun and games you had your trousers set on fire by Galvini and Moggo maybe is that correct or my memory playing tricks? Didnt you also put something in the Kestrel News about riders being too tall to race and Jon Cook (now Lakeside promoter) was riding for the Eastbourne Juniors believed it!!! VV

First started going to Waterden Road in the early 80s and first memories are of seeing Finn Thomsen, Bo Petersen, Wilmott, Titman,Kasper and Hagon. Always remember sitting on the backstraight near the Vic Harding Lounge and there was a lady called Genevieve who ran the Jens Rasmussen fan club who in all of his races would shout "Go on Razza" on every lap!!! I wonder what she is doing now?? Then they went from the Hawks to the Kestrels in the Terry Russell era and the ill fated 1987 British League season. Always remember going to a meeting in the Vic Harding Lounge one night when John Louis, Dave Pav and Mike Western announced Hackney were dropping back to the National League. Got a big cheer and of course a brilliant season came in 1988. Also enjoyed watching the emergence of Mark Loram, Chris Louis and Joe Screen who all at one point or another would have ridden for Earlybird Hawks junior team managed by a certain Mr B Williams!!! Talking of Bryn I always enjoyed reading the Kestrel News every week and wished I had kept them now Also remember you taking over as Start Marshall one night Bryn and also at the end of one season you having your trousers set on fire!!! Who was it who done that? Anyway I am sure a lot of you will have more memories of Waterden Road than myself going back to the Bengt Jannson and Zenon Plech days so it would be interesting to read your particular memories of the old place.
-
Will always remember Galvini diving under Darrell Brandford and Mike Spink to win Hackney the meeting in a last heat decider in 1988. Did you give him instructions before that last heat Bryn Also remember a local fan by the start line with black hair and glasses who was always shouting at the ref or having a go at the home riders!!! Upon numerous visits there enjoyed watching Hellsen, Fry and Gary O'Hare racing.
-
Always remember Bobby Schwartz going into the crowd to sort out one of the pit bend loonies!! Seeing Kelvin Tatum and Todd Wiltshire starting their careers. Hackney getting a 5-0 in the last heat to win the London Cup in 1989.

Rosco Your Country Needs You.
Vincent Vega replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Paul Laydown engines first came into the EL in 1996 Rosco was still riding then so he would have ridden a laydown engine. Regards VV -

Orion What his fan club also forget is that he hasnt ridden since the 80s and machinery has moved on a hell of a lot since then. Someone like Rosco was a rider more recently and would have a better idea of bike set ups etc. VV -
Scott Nicholls

Funny how its only mates of Middlo and Poole fans who dont think he should go as team GB manager. He cannot motivate anymore. You cannot use the big Polish track as an excuse like he did. Our boys ride in the Polish league they should have equipment good enough for these type of tracks. You aint telling me if this meeting would have been held at Purfleet that the Poles or the Danes or the Aussies would have finished so far behind cos the track is different to what they are used to. -

Suzie Reading your post suggesting Chris Louis it seems you agree with me that Middlo should step down? I aint saying Middlo isnt a good team manager he is no shadow of a doubt. The Team GB riders after 7 years need to hear a different voice as it is obvious he can no longer motivate them. Half of them dont look bothered tonight. Vega -

Shovvy If Middlo werent Poole manager you would have been calling for his head aswell. Every other supporter on here knows that. Nuff said VV -
BSPA do us all a favour and get Rosco in as Team GB team manager in 2008. We have scored TWO points from 8 heats tonight that is a disgrace. Middlo is a good team manager no shadow of a doubt but has been there too long and can no longer motivate the England riders I have been saying this for 2-3 years now and surely tonight has proved that.

Thanks From Middlo
