Congratulations Tony Rickardsson
Vincent Vega replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
See what riding for Arena Essex does for you -
What no-one has mentioned about Crumpy last night was after he totally wiped out Pedersen and Lindback he didnt even go over and see how poor Lindback was. No excuses only takes a few seconds to wander over and see if the other rider is OK or not.
-
This referee tonight is having a stinker. Hancock should have been excluded left Crump no room. Andersen should have been excluded for going down quicker than Ruud Van Nistelrooy and he is holding the tapes for ages aswell. Oh well least he is making it interesting with his decisions which is more that can be said for the racing.

Great Venue Terrible Track
Vincent Vega posted a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well the atmosphere seems brilliant tonight I am sure our fellow forumers are making loads of noise but the track is no good for passing. Gordon Kennett King of the White Line would have loved this track if you gate and stick to the kerb you win simple as that. Any rider trying to blast around the outside gets stuck in no mans land. Saying that I suppose the restrictions they have to work to makes laying a good passing track difficult although it seems more banking could have been used. -
Excellent website Paul keep up the good work. Do you know if the riders who are still riding today from the 88 double winning side Loram, Louis and Moggo are going if they do not have riding commitments of course. How about Paul Whitt? It was a good feature on him in the Star a few months ago.

Graham you have obviously a bad knowledge of speedway or have only been going for 5 mins. Andy Galvin was a brilliant rider in the late 80s at NL level equivalent to todays PL in case you didnt know. Iris can you stop posting pointless replies I have read loads of posts on the YGB bit with people asking about what former riders are doing these days I just thought someone on here may know if he is coming back or not as in last year Speedway Star he said he wanted to ride again. You obviously didnt read that dont they get the SS in Germany darlin? I will ask him some time if I get the chance just thought I would post on here first thats all. Back to German Iris for next rib tickling reply.

What I mean Kev is the raceway tavern is probably like watching footy in a directors box no atmosphere I prefer being on the terraces with the rank and file where there is more passion. Especially when the S Bird is around passion Back to the original question anyone know if he has retired officially or not?
-
Iris He is normally up in the Raceway Tavern and I dont go up there. Prefer being on the terraces with the real supporters who pay money to get in. So unless I buy myself a megaphone and shout the question I thought it would be easier to leave a message on here. Happy now my love.

As we have been talking about Scoie recently what about the other half of the NL Pairs 1990 champs. Anyone know what the Great Galvini is up to these days? See him at Arena most weeks has he officially retired as I reckon he would do a cracking job as rider/coach for a CL outfit.
-
Just watched a bit of the NL Pairs 1990 video Bryn and in the interview at the end Steve says " A big thanks to Bryn for masterminding the old programme caper" Are you going to this years Pairs at Glasgow Bryn?
-
Cheers Steve good photo.
-
Does anyone know how Scoie is these days has he been seen at any speedway or grass track meetings this season? Cant believe it is 15 years ago that him and Galvini won the NL Pairs last time it was held at Glasgow.
-
Does anyone know what the Pink Panther is up to these days? I seem to remember he was living in Oz? He should be a guest of honour at the County Ground next season as he always used to say that he wanted to be there the day it sadly closed.
-
Bryn I went on the coach trip with County Coaches 2 years later in 1995 for the GP challenge in Lonigo when we were cheering on Leigh Adams who in fact won the meeting. I seem to remember the tyre on the coach smoking a lot and the coach having to stop every now and then for the drivers to cool it down by watering it!!!!! One of the supporters I think forgot his passport a Glasgow fan supporting Robert Nagy and ended up hiding in the loo on the coach at the border I also recall the same man directing the traffic when we were trying to locate the hotel car park. Anyway we had a good time at Armando Castagnas restaurant that evening and the racing for that particular meeting was some of the best I have ever seen. Hopefully the Arena supporters club may arrange another coach trip to a GP next season maybe. Do you remember this trip?? VV

I was watching a video today of the Arena Essex fans trip to Pardubice for the 1993 World Under 21 Final where they were supporting Josh Larsen. Their journey was horrendous taking about 28 hours as the coach drivers did not have a clue where they were going. The main courier seemed to be good old Bryn who starts off downing a pint in the bar at Arena to directing the coach drivers through Dresden to the border. In the end the coach got completely lost in Czecho and they ended up getting a police escort to the Hotel Technik in Bodanek. Do you remember the above trip to Czecho Bryn? Have any of you had disastrous journeys to speedway meetings abroad?
-
What are those 2 Exeter legends doing these days anyone know?
-
Shazzy do you know what Rob Tilbury, Paul Whittaker or Kevin Brice are up to these days?
-
Jay Pleece used to mechanic for Dave Norris at Eastbourne in the mid 90s. C'mon Shazzy Bird thought you would know that
-
Soldier Boy was last seen at Poole around about 1997/98 he was on the Crashes and Cock ups video being interviewed and geeing the crowd up at the KO Cup Final v Eastbourne that year. I am surprised Mr Shovlar doesnt remember him at Poole or has he only just started supporting them.

Flyin Ryan please note Middlo is a mate of Shazzy Bird Tabby a few others etc so they wont like anyone criticising him. They are quite happy for their national team year after year turning up for the world cup and not winning it. A lot of these people on the forum have no blood in their veins or any passion when it comes to speedway and think oh dont say nothing bad about that rider or manager it will hurt the poor little souls feelings. Just ignore their posts they will go away. -
Time to go oh Middlo
Vincent Vega replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Jill please if you are going to make comments on the EL do your homework. RR has built a decent team as we are doing a lot better than you speedway masterminds said we would. If I remember rightly you were one of the people saying Arena would finish bottom. We are currently pushing for a play off place so that means we are doing better than everyone said we would which therefore means that RR has built a decent side so get back to the PL and get yer facts right sweetheart. If you lot are happy being the bridesmaids and never the bride then keep Middlo and we will win nothing but if thats what you lot want then fair enough I have no problem with that. IMHO I just think RR would get more out of the riders and Team GB would win the World Cup next year just my own personal opinion. You lot think I am wrong which is fair enough I do not. We all have different opinions on speedway topics. -

Your argument is flawed Tabitha. You are a Poole fan and Middlo is Poole team manager so obviously you are gonna stick up for him. There is your error go and have it surgically removed. The FACTS back up my argument in all of this Middlo as England manager HAS been a failure the records back this argument up. 4 World Cups how many wins 0 Test Match v Denmark we LOST check the records. -
Time to go oh Middlo
Vincent Vega replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hagon Shocker and Tabby should check the facts has Team GB won the World Cup under Middlo No. Which team manager left Chris Louis out of the team that lost to Denmark at Wolves on 19 July answer Middlo. What happened England lost to Denmark in a test match. Who the very next week scored 18 paid 19 for Ipswich at Wolves no not Nicholls CHRIS LOUIS. These are FACTS check your speedway stars. You 2 are full of crap not knowing the facts. -

Milkman There is a big difference to winning the league and the World Cup. To win the World Cup you only need to win 3 meetings whereas the league is over 30 odd matches big difference. Middlo has done a good job no doubt about that I just feel having had 4 attempts at winning it and failed someone new should be given a chance. VV
