  1. If we had started against the Cats as we did against the Bandits then maybe that score would have been closer.
  2. And a paid max the week before against the Cats , still I agree with you regarding Brady but I would be a bit cautious about bringing him back too early.
  3. All the home teams prepare the track to the liking of their team, riders constantly refer to it on TV interviews. The almost unique thing with the OTA is most riders enjoy riding there, you will not find many of them slagging it off. Jason Crump no less described it as " a very cool track" and Leigh Adams created a track record there in his only appearance which has stood for some 10 years. It was fairly obvious from Statto`s excellent reports that the Rebels were not getting out of the traps early on which as we all know is extra important at the start of most meetings. As soon as the Rebels became competitive in this area it was " goodnight Vienna". Starting a match without your most potent pairing in Brady and Pontus against the fourth placed team was also a bit worrying but what a great shout by Gary (again) to bring in Rasmus Jensen. It will be a wonderful achievement if the Rebels manage to finish top of the pile again considering we made 5 changes to the all conquering 2013 line up..............one wonders where Somerset would be now if Jason Doyle was still wearing the No 1 race jacket.
  4. Bit strong Shadders old chap would you have him in the Rye team given a chance.
  5. Should be a good match however I'm not sure why the Rebels didn't go for Kyle Newman unless he is riding for someone else that night. Jensen was a bit hit and miss recently at our place but I'm sure Gary knows what he's doing. Ol lie and Nick going very well at the moment at the top of the order and Charlie is pretty much a heat leader at home. Another 3 points for the Rebels.
  6. This could be a banana skin here, the cats picked up 6 good points Tuesday and will be gagging for revenge after the Rebs turned them over the other day. Brady's position in the team makes r/r quite risky IMO. Hopefully Pontus and the reserves can come up with the goods. For the Cats Bjerre and Ostergaard can be a bit hit and miss, and Drymel did quite well earlier on in the season at the OTA and Roynon is a Pairs winner a couple of seasons ago. I think the Rebs will win but I'm not expecting another hammering for the opposition.
  7. Fantastic effort put in by 6 man rebels today, especially Ollie and Nick
  8. Still think this will be close, wrighty and Pontus will be busy today. I think we can outpace them at reserve. I'm guessing r/r will be at 2.
  9. Big blow for the Rebs to lose Brady,he has been a breath of fresh air in the Prem this year.
  10. JBM True, I'm wondering if you would have made 30 if Olly and Brady had completed their rides.
  11. I said I was not sure about Paul and Pontus, just a single point for young Brady as the Rebs go down by 55-39, once again not sure but is that their closest result this season at home.Great stuff from Nick Morris again.
  12. Brady definitely and maybe Pontus and Paul have never even seen Armadale so a tough baptism for them I feel.
  13. Can't see us getting much out of this one,the Monarchs are almost as formidable at home as us. I think it would be a bit silly if the lads are chasing a lost cause and pick up unnecessary injuries. Our home form will get us in the play offs, that is the time to pull out all the stops. In saying that though I expect us to be competitive tonight and give Edinburgh a good match.
  14. Yeah maybe, but it was a massive shout by Gary to give the black and white to Charlie who at that point had not beaten a home rider, and also backed up by Paul who also had not even got a point. Then in heats 9 and 10 Rye tracked their two best pairings who failed to deliver which enabled the Rebels to get their noses in front. Shadders was going on about "rolling" starts, but Mellgren did the same in heat 7 which gave him his only heat win,and I think supporters on both sides were of the opinion that Boxall should have gone in heat 12 for clearing out Brady and Bunyard when Todd beat him to the first corner. In the rerun Todd demolished the tapes and a potential 1-5 turned into a 3-3 as Brady was clearly a bit second hand after that. However a very entertaining match with Kennett the outstanding rider on the night, his battles with Brady and Nick Morris bought supporters from both sides to their feet. Somerset started very slowly but as the meeting wore on they slowly got back into it. Heat 15 was blindingly good especially when Morris who was holding of a hard charging Kennett nearly binned it coming off bend 4 but just managed to stay on and get 2nd and clnch the match. As always great banter with Shadders and his good lady and Sid ( hope your leg gets better ) and all the the travelling Rebels , Ian,Dave and Bernard. I have a busy Sept and Oct but will endeavor to get down to the OTA for one of the play offs.
  15. Just a quick word on the tac in heat 8, at the end of the day I think Somerset would still have won 46-44 without the extra 3 points. I do agree that it is a stupid rule and we should go back to bringing in a tac sub as they continue to do in Sweden.
  16. I may be right off track here but maybe nobody wanted the booking.
