In Holder's defense, he blew his best engine 1 race after clinching the title then broke his shoulder, hip and heel when sitting 3rd or 4th in the standings halfway through the following series. So little harsh on him... -

Well when his main 2 rivals in the competition have been removed it certainly helps He's brilliant. But the fact of the matter is he also has a lot of advantages on his side too. -

Failing spectacularly LOL So their last season in the GP, Laguta and Emil came 1st and 3rd when 6 out of 10 events were in Poland. They then had to take a full year out (& for any athlete in any sport that is tremendously detrimental) . And they have come back and are easily in the top 10 riders in the world. Them not being in the series completely devalues it. Bartosz is an absolutely brilliant rider, but he and the other Polish boys already has massive advantage over the rest of the field. 3+ GPs in Poland every year, the final round in Poland every year. Its completely unfair in all honesty. Now I'm sure people will say they all ride in Poland, well yes that's true. But the fact of the matter is home comforts and a home crowd are a massive advantage in any sport. That got Poland over the line in the SWC this year. Its why a very weak GB team took Poland all the way in the SWC in 2016 and why GB won SoN a couple of years ago despite their best rider getting injured on day 1. Not a chance that happens on Foreign soil. Plus its very well documented how much influence the Polish authorities have behind the scenes to make sure Poland stay on top. Again, Bartosz is a Brilliant rider, one of the best to ever do it, but if it carries on like this just give him the title for the next 5 years and be done with it. -
Have 2 Hospitality tickets for Cardiff. Were £225 but I know I'm going to have to take a hit on the price but oh well.... Any interest please message me. Thanks

Simon Stead and Oliver Allen.... Stand down?

There is no reason we lost other than Poland has a very good team and all the advantages of riding at home. We essentially had a 3 man team that put on a bloody good performance. After doing absolutely nothing for years we've gone 2018 silver (rule change 1 year later means we would have won) Gold in 2021, Silver 2022 and Silver 2023. You cant say they are getting in dramatically wrong.... -
Not saying it because he's no longer with us, always loved his commentary. Sky Sports in general had that tendancy to be over the top in their presentation and Nige certainly was of that ilk. As previously said on here, speedway commentary where there are long gaps to fill, followed by quick bursts of action, is a thankless task and he did it with absolute aplomb. Due to my friendship with Phil Rising I had the pleasure of a night on the Guiness with he, Nigel, kelv and a few others. Nige was as enthusiatic in the boozer as he was in the commentry booth. But more importantly , super polite, respectful and just a lovely guy. Speedway has lost a very hard working ally, but the world has lost a bloody decent bloke. Rest east Nige, enjoy having the best seat in the house for all futre GPs.

Aces fans not happy with this team?!!

I absolutely understand what you are saying but we've spent the last 50 plus years as a society demanding that we do not tar any one race, religion or country with the same brush. Now 1 launatic 'leader' invades a country and everyone born of that country is punished? Cannot be right, just cant be. For this particular scenario, they both (apparently) have Polish citizenship. They have both condemed this war. There is a way round it
-
So if the UK were put into a war that the vast majority of us didnt agree with, everyone would be ok with loosing their jobs through no fault of their own? Its a joke and devalues the competition. They both posted onn their instagram day 1 of this invasion that it was wrong and they stand with Ukraine. More to the point waht difference will it make? Putin going to put a stop to all this because Russians cant compete inSport? These 2 have condemed this invasion and they are both Polish citizens. Could have been easily avoided.

If Manchester doesnt have a GP it should have the Challenge
-
Neither wanted to be in it tho.

Baring in mind there wasnt even a qualifier for the original seies back in 1995, I dont think there has ever been a series where the majority of the best riders were not in it. Maybe 1999 Loram could have pushed TRik for the title but that aside theres never been anyone that obvious thats not been in the series. Just a few that slightly divided opinion.
-
Dont really think it matters where they are from as long as the best are in it Or at the very least its 15 out of the best 20. What the GPs dont benefit from are riders like Bertzon and KK getting 1/2 points every time...
