  1. Whilst I agree totally with the sentiment of getting riders to progress, the flaw in that argument is the riders who are doubling up who are not going to be the future of British speedway - for example Stuart Robson, who before commenting further let me state I have no objection to him doubling in both leagues and good luck to him just picked on him for ageist reasons. His motivation - I would suggest - is powered by the desire to have more meetings and therefore opportunity to earn more money, I would have difficulty in accepting an argument that riding in high league is going to make him a better rider and improve him for the future! There is an argument for suggesting that riders like Robson/King/Kennett/Allen/Stead are in fact doubling DOWN as they have spent full seasons wholly riding EL and reverted to PL as their main league (Robert Lambert would also be in this category and he does actually go against my point!). Maybe criteria is for riders like these PL takes priority and those on the way up in their careers have EL as priority?? Another radical and commonsense suggestion is why not alternate with priority on clashes so first time rider goes in EL next PL etc - OR give priority to club with home meeting as they should not have both got home meetings on same night - if so revert to alternate idea as with clashes on both away meetings
  2. Get some of the Summers money spent and buy him from Lakeside, that resolves all issues!!
  3. Can't wait to hear Mr Garrity's "official" reason for wanting to move at such a late stage of close season!! Seems very strange when you have a team place to give it up and, presumably, just ride EL, as all other teams are full and of course are not allowed to approach riders already contracted to teams
  4. Ipswich have signed the Italian/Argentinian Covatti, I assume madsteve is referring to the Argentinian/Italian Covatti, who coincidently has the same average!
  5. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in a large group !!
  6. Apparently if neither team owns the rider then it goes on which team declared their full team first !! (New one on me) This is quote from S Star and regarding Redcar having first call on Stuart Robson over Coventry. So looks like you could be in luck
  7. Interesting that Peterborough press release is now shown under Elite League Clubs Think this team might struggle in the top league
  8. Think you may mean panic loan, from previous statements Berwick not about to buy anyone
  9. I do genuinely believe he will improve - by how much?? that is the real question? He should be a 4 - 5 point rider, given decent machinery and if he learns to stay on board and avoid suicidal passing attempts. I can understand your view because on a lot of occasions I watched him he was awful - but at back end of season there were signs of improvement.
  10. Pleased to see you have been enjoyed the Christmas festivities already I am hoping for improvements, but perhaps not on the scales you are suggesting !!
  11. On currently declared riders I'd bet anyone Redcar would beat Berwick, Newcastle & Plymouth
  12. I see in press release Ty says he isn't doubling up and had to choose between Wolves & Sheffield - I am reading too much into choice of words?? To me it implies he isn't allowed to double up - maybe he is on a visa that restricts to only one employer ( as per Doyle last year), that may also be why Demark league is on agenda? May be totally off the mark, but happy to be corrected
  13. I concur, only issue maybe if Proctor doesn't ride in UK at all in 2015 - for whatever reason. Not suggesting anything, but do find it strange no announcement has been forthcoming, seems one of the easier deals to complete - is there a problem??
  14. The "UKBA" may well have known - to clarify I was suggesting announcement may not have been made to try and avoid 'everyone' becoming aware what had been going on, and therefore saving their reputation (yes I know some will say what reputation!!)
  15. Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, but can anyone explain why that system has any logic to it?? Which is NL - so who now gets priority??
  16. Same as previous posting - neither own Blackbird hence Peterborough get priority (there was something about rearranged fixtures and fixtures already in place, so odd occasions may be different) This is why Lakeside were so keen to get Lawson as their asset last year, but as is obvious to everyone now, it was a totally contrived transfer - to stitch Redcar up ! (Am I bitter and annoyed - YES !! - but what goes around comes around and life moves on - )
  17. Just a thought - If , as has been suggested, the correct figure issued by immigration has been 7 for a number of years, and BSPA chose to ignore this and effectively "break the rules" would they want to have an official statement issued by them, containing the news that they are "changing" to implement and abide by a ruling which should have been in place for a number of years. Maybe this is why no "official" statement has been issued, and is not likely to be - it looks to me like BSPA were trying to get this in place without any fuss - well that worked well - didn't it !
  18. Danny King's favourite holiday destination and young Heeps loves Pizzas
  19. Strong rumour is Dilger and Danny Phillips for reserve slots
  20. His stint with you was excellent! Now on what I believe to be a totally false average, don't think he will be a PL heatleader over a full season, but certainly got the talent to have a lot of good meetings and if he should drop to reserve will give strength there. Bring on the scorpions - we'll be looking to "gently pat" their butts
  21. His options are getting very limited - I would say Edinburgh is Cook & Masters - leaves you, Bandits, Glasgow and Peterborough ??
  22. From a neutral's point of view - I thought your first signings for top 5 were ok, and gave a solid base - however Covatti and Nielsen at reserve, for me, have turned it from an ok team to a very strong side, got to up there near top challenging Both of reserves have been mentioned on Bears forums as potential signings - primarily with the aim of completing top five, so for you to have both at reserve - well done to Ipswich promotion. Good Luck for the season ahead
