  1. Just want to add to the praise and thanks for the two stunning GPs - the racing was so exciting as the track comes to the riders as the meeting proceeds and no matter what anyone says, the fans in the stadium loved it even if they were filling in their programmes! Met some nice fans, including a young man who has been seeing BV since 1955! He was as excited as anyone around when Kurtz won! I am happy to get a 2 for 1 for such high quality speedway and I'll try and be back next season too - despite having my car broken into in a city centre car park, it was worth it (almost!)
  2. Glasgow last weekend showed how to get on with a meeting despite inclement weather. Keep the racing going, forego grading breaks and just plough through. Their presentation was excellent in the circumstances
  3. I really do miss the weekend in Cardiff - as has been said the racing could be patchy, but the feeling in the city, seeing fans around from all clubs (both current and historic) and the feeling of a big stadium was always something to enjoy. I'm looking forward to this weekend and last years GP was superb, but pouring out of the NSS into a Manchester suburb can't compare with the crowd coming out of the Principality. Pity we couldn't have had both! Surely some regulars on here must miss the opportunity to moan about the whole occasion from the safety of their armchairs and keyboards!
  4. Any news about the line-up for the Derbyshire Open on Sunday? I am hoping to stop-by when returning from Manchester and I'd guess I wont be the only one.
  5. Once again it seems mainly people who weren't there moaning about start times etc - how about praising a new promotion for getting a new track up and running in such a short time? I arrived early enough but the car park was running out of space and the road from Northampton itself looked chock-a-block - I was coming up from London so missed that traffic but understood why they might have needed more time, every paying spectator counts after all. The team is going to struggle when they pick up the 'leftovers' but some riders need to think about their performances last night, being all too keen to pull up at the back, so hopefully replacements will become available. Kye Thomsen was sensational and really showed his team mates the way. Of course there is really no home track advantage at the moment, but it's no excuse for a lack of effort. The people involved, the stewards, on the gates, in the stand were friendly and keen, and the track produced some racing on the night. I enjoyed my first visit, boosted by a KL win, and I'd hope to go again this season. Finally, Cooper Rushen may have made an error, it just looked a horrible crash from where I sat, but please he is only 16 and as he said himself he is learning all the time. He is clearly a special talent, so instead of the usual Forum pile-on, how about cutting the young lad some slack and supporting a future GB superstar?
  6. Despite the result and an awful diversion on the A12 to the M25, enjoyed my first meeting of 2026. Surely Max Fricke will improve and what I saw of the reserves has already repaid my pre-season faith in their ability to get better - I am certain that we will remember Cooper's first steps in the league when he becomes a massive star. Cook & Bomber were solid if unable to make the gates - apart from the mysterious 'red light' race, but as stated elsewhere Paco & Kvech were passengers. Probably too early for a knee jerk change, and I still believe this team will get better. On to Northampton!
  7. If - and as we know its often a big if on here - that 6 is correct, I will be super excited for the new Stars season. All of the named riders are exciting to watch and with a true number one it could be an interesting season. As for the youngsters, isn't that what the Young Stars team is all about? Rushen looks capable far above his years and likewise Scott has shown he will carry on developing. So what if they struggle against any big names, by the end of the season, with an injury free season, both will be showing other 6s & 7s he way round Saddlebow and maybe elsewhere. These lads deserve to be blooded and I just hope that they will be fully supported and given the patience required
  8. Very dull but a great final - hopefully the track will not revert to the early heats for tonight's GP
  9. Well judging by the early posts on here this will be a wasted question but I have a spare ticket for the SGP2 and SGP. If anyone is interested please make an offer - I can send over by email - they will be unused otherwise.
  10. All I've got to say is that I'm really gutted for Tai - he has had such bad luck in the last few seasons, I asked him last year whether he would ever think enough is enough and stop putting his body through it? He said he was happy to carry on riding. The bloke is a legend in the sport and I hope he can fully recover as quickly as possible.
  11. Although not an ideal solution - the various Sports Bar & Grills have separate screens at each table and will change to 'ahem' niche sports for you. I've watched the Monday night matches in the Clapham Junction branch - albeit without sound. I know there are others in Farringdon, Marylebone and Old Street but I think the one in Victoria has closed. Hope that's of some help
  12. Nothing sums up this forum like the number of people prepared to come on this thread and tell us how bad Cardiff is and how they will never go! Who cares? Those of us who make a big effort for the weekend seem to love it! My partner and I enjoyed meeting some great speedway fans from up and down the country, enjoyed the racing, couldn't fail to love the result and thoroughly enjoyed the impromptu Q&A with Tai after the event. Thanks Tai! We're also going to Riga & Torun, which will probably cost less together than Cardiff, but it is the only speedway themed weekend in Britain. Posters throughout the city centre, stalls with 'dodgy' merchandise on the Main Street, streets closed for fans - don't remember anything like that in Manchester for the SoN?? It would be great to see two SGPs in Britain but did Belle Vue do themselves any favours with their overpriced tickets, resulting in a big temporary stand looking empty? Again the two of us enjoyed ourselves in Manchester for a weekend, but lets not have a competition for the best - lets get together for both!
  13. I like Kvech and think he can improve by racing in Britain - interesting signing!
