The Somerset stadium is now a wonderful facility. If the new Coventry stadium - if it is built - winds up as good as this, you will be doing very well.
IN which case, you would be better just running the Storm for a couple of years. As it was supposed to be land which is too polluted for housing, could the land be the sewage farm near Wolston? (In future, we will be able to tell Cov fans because they breath through their mouths ) The rest of this area is farmland.
Oddly enough, exactly the same comments were made when Birmingham applied for permanent planning permission in 2010. Until noise monitoring took place; it was found that with the new silencers, the speedway was inaudible!
Actually, a rider's first experience of 'a league meeting situation' has to be in the MDL or NJL. Very few - only those with extensive grasstrack etc. experience - can go straight into the NL without a year or two in the Development Leagues.
The adverse camber meant that half of the track was unusable - what is the use of that? They need a track where the skilful and brave can go round the ouside by the fence to overtake.
Some things could do with improving.
Page after page of fawning over the GPs: who is that interested?
National League tucked away at the back as an afterthought. It's a fully-fledged league now, Phil!
Only a postage stamp-sized section for MDL/NDL affairs. This deserves very much more.
Totally ignoring the Amateur speedway scene, although Richard Hollingsworth sends a report every month. There is Lydd, Iwade, Dragons and STR as well.
The teams declared squads at the AGM, I think, but given the amateur staus of the riders, this will almost certainly change as the season goes on. Actually, riders need to be in different teams in order to get as much experience as possible.
You can buy a pre-owned 4 valve Jawa bike for about £1000, or a GM for £1500. 'F2' bikes are a dead letter; apart from the factors above, the ones I have seen are much more complicated than an ordinary speedway machine, and have a radiator!
Does anyone know if there is a UK importer or agent for the Polish Joba speedway guards? I have found a website but there is no facility for ordering anything, so if anyone knows how to get hold of some?
