Poole ran a junior team there 1972/3, a number of riders went on to appear for poole including Martin Yeates, len Davis,Geoff swindells,Russel foot and Dave buttigeig who would have gone a lot further in the sport but concentrated on go- karting I believe and became a world champion.steve lomas and Brian chaldicot are others who rode for other teams lomas(Weymouth, hackney, wolves,Edinburgh and Boston),chaldicot(Bradford).mike broadbank was in charge of the training.

Poole v Coatbridge 24th April 1968 heat 1 eide, laessing,d templeton, mudge 70.4 secs, the only thing I remember it was odd fossengens 1st match for Poole.first thing I remember is Weymouth v Middlesbrough 8th June 1968, graham edmonds of the teesiders hit the fence on the old home straight on and when they took his helmet off his head was covered in blood.

Good man a gas head and Somerset man, the fact is I paid the same for Cardiff what I did for somerset the night before, Somerset was cracker but your sat or standing on a grass bank with poor lighting and not very good catering and toilet outlets, Cardiff superb venue great view ( we were right above the woffinden/ Freddie incident) but poor racing and badly mannered and pissed up poles. Mind you we've paid more for some very bad rovers games where you know that the opposing keeper does,nt have a shot to save!!

Yes 3 ageing heat leaders and journeymen second strings terry tulloch excepted, yes Sampson as he was then would have been a hell of a improvement, made it worse that mal corradine had his best ever season at middlesborough that year,it was a very poor season, only kept off the bottom because of scunthorpes problems that year.
-
No the old one next door
-
Remember that meeting, was that the meeting when the track resembled Weymouth beach?i remember the seyco championship in 1977 when mal corradine stalked him for 3 laps before passing Sampson on his way to winning the meeting,we should have signed Sampson when Eastbourne moved up
-
I wonder now iversens season is all but over in Poland will he be signed by one busters teams before the deadline?
-
Up to the mid seventies all commonwealth riders rode in the British world championship rounds
-
Couldn't, agree more, while I'm sad that Valentin has packed in, he was slowly getting there but Henry has struggled since his injury and Kurtz apart from the odd ride has been woeful, he,s even struggled in heat 8 more often than not, I'm surprised he,s lasted so long.
-
Atkins has asked to stand down now.Rode his last match last night at Eastbourne,he has struggled since his injury.

Remember Geoff mudge passing the great man in a world championship qr at Poole in 1969 and Reidar eide and John langfield getting a 5-1 over him in 1971 , apart from these he was virtually unbeatable at Poole, even Simmons at his best always got beaten, he broke the track record in 1975 with Simmons up his exhaust pipe,it wasn't,t till his latter hull days that he became beatable.
