Polish League Transfers...rumours...
Mateusz replied to tommy's topic in International World of Speedway
Looks like Gollob's not gonna join Bydgoszcz from next season... It's more than obvious he'd come to his hometown club if Polonia had saved Ekstraliga this year but in the current situation things are much more complicated in terms of Tomek's sponsors etc. TG has not said "no" yet but he needs more time to make his final decision and Bydgoszcz can't wait that long while most class riders are being signed by other clubs every day now... So hopefully the second GP rider representing my team will be Chris Harris. I'd like to see him the most in the 2008 line-up. -

Ten buses of Falubaz fans that came to Bydgoszcz for the Ekstraliga race-off was more than the amount of buses going to ZG per year so maybe we could organise a trip a'la Ostrow U-21 this yr ? -
LOL But let's face the truth we all love the Bydgoszcz bar culture

Who cares about the goats - I haven't seen them. But make sure you get to party with not bad looking college girls - nearly 70k studying in Poznan Mercure is very close to the railway station and within a walking distance to the Old Sqr (10-15 mins). Also the tram 2 or 5

Check out the Leszno thread on this subforum... -> direct link But the quick answer is Wroclaw or Poznan.

Have just read on Speedway.info.pl (speedway newsletter) that it's quite likely Leszno will host the first GP of 2008 and it might be May 10th.. We'll see but that would be a nice beginning of the new GP series. -
Yeah, hopefully I'll go to Cardiff in 2008 too Had a pit pass as I worked in the bikes fuelling team with my friends.

Hampel's not riding tomorrow and it's been known for a few days.. He's got serious problems with his previously injured hand and he even pulled out from the Polish league final last Sunday. -

No Wild Cards In Polish Ekstraliga
Mateusz replied to Mateusz's topic in International World of Speedway
I know as I wrote this text AJ screwed this season but at least he has balls and honour to stay in and try to pull us from the hopeless Division 1. -
Promoters of Polish Ekstraliga clubs decided not to introduce wild cards (which would mean enlarging the league to 10 teams) since next season.. This means my beloved Polonia Bydgoszcz have been finally relegated to Division 1, after 56 seasons of continuous ride in the top league.. Only Bydgoszcz and Torun voted for the wild cards. In this situation I don't think Gollob's gonna join Bydgoszcz in the lower league either.

Finished after all, 44-46 1. Leszno 2. Torun 3. Wroclaw
-
Riots at the stadium in Torun, the match may not be continued..
-
Leszno led by the irreplaceable Leigh Adams have just become the 2007 Polish Champions! 42-42 (83-91) after heat 14 at Torun!

I can only paste a link to live updates.

Leszno Gp May 10th 2008

Although I study in Poznan and should defend my new mecca of debauchery , I think Wroclaw is a bit better overall and more "European" than Poznan, especially the famous Old Sqr. However, it may be a nice change from Wroclaw which many of you have already explored for GPs. Both cities are entertaining locations anyway and I advise you to wait for the next year's schedule of Polish leagues first. Hopefully there will be a league round after the GP so staying in Poznan or Wroclaw you may get to watch some league action as well As for Leszno, being honest, it's just a sh!thole with about 64 thousand inhabitants and a speedway stadium.. Which doesn't mean the atmosphere on the route railway station -> old square -> stadium won't be cracking But everyone has to land in their hotel sooner or later and it might be a bit complicated even with quite frequent and reliable train connections. On the other hand, a train full of drunk speedway fans is always something special. All in all then, don't worry about Leszno's all inconvenience and come over! -
