Polish Extraleague 1st Round Sunday 3rd April

Bydgoszcz v Daugavpils (57:33), heat 15: Walasek (red) & Sayfutdinov (blue) v Bogdanovs (white) & Povazhny (yellow) -
Must be something with those silencers. Apparently, the old ones we are still going to use in Poland this year are too loud for the British TV standards!
-
Yes, but this is not a new case - she sued him a couple of months ago and the whole trial/investigation is just in progress - it usually takes a while to sort out such cases in Polish courts. Today's piece of news is only an update. From what I heard Gollob's wife she was taken to a psychiatric hospital towards the end of last year after destroying Tomek's neighbours' car by a samurai sword she had stolen from theirs (she thought it was Tomek's car)... Gollob visited her in that hospital a couple of times, apparently they are reconciled and divorced now. Their daughter lives with Tomek now. ...and this is just a small bit of what was going throughout last year - actually I'm still very impressed Tomek dealt with all this mess and became the World Champion

Ekspertyza grafometryczna wykazała, że doszło do sfałszowania podpisu na dokumentach, ale jednocześnie wykluczyła żeby tego dopuścił się podejrzany. which means A handwriting expert's expertise proved that the signatures had been forged but it had not been been done by Tomasz G(ollob) So no worries

Looks like the whole meeting has been uploaded now... http://www.itv24.com.pl/user/login/film/1312/ ...you have to register on the website to watch it, though ("Jeżeli nie masz konta, stwórz nowe.")

It was a really good meeting, especially the Gollob v Pedersen races. The video of this tournament should be online soon on itv24.com.pl

What about football matches in Germany (or England)? 80 thousand fans at the stadium in Gelsenkirchen at a local derby match. Do they all sit quiet? Are there any noise limits set by FIFA? Do people who live nearby such stadium complain on the noise coming from them?
-
Got the same impression after last two days of discussing the whole silencer issue here. It's disappointing that instead of fighting for their beloved sport some people just seem to give up so easily and agree on such solutions as these new silencers... And I'm wondering what's next - because after a couple of years the noise levels may be lowered again and eventually, in 10 or 20 years, speedway authorities in UK or Sweden might really decide to switch on electric engines, as I was joking earlier. Or just shut down the whole business... Because what's the point actually - it's noisy, it's not environmental friendly. Who needs speedway - we may sit at home instead watching x-factor (just not too loudly, remember!)... with no noise outside coming from that bl..dy speedway stadium.
-
Have just read FIM are to make the (final?) decision until March 23rd.
-
It won't...? Seriously - you'd be shocked how much everyone here is against these new silencers and any noise limits - riders, promoters, coaches, sponsors etc. Ask anyone that has anything to say in the Polish speedway (except some corrupted and FIM related oldies from PZM) if they have any problem with the noise and the only answer you'll hear is that nobody have ever complained about the noise here. No that nobody else matters but someone has to do something with the crap and farce these new silencers are. And from what I have been reading on speedway websites it looks like British, Swedish and Danish just agree with whatever they are told by FIM. While over here it's been a massive discussion between speedway authorities, riders, promoters and fans over the silencers for months now... We just don't enjoy taking every rubbish we are given and forced to use by some guys from FIM whose knowledge about speedway is comparable to my knowledge about cricket And Emil has to sit quiet since he was given the wild card by them. But I bet that if you asked him off the record whether he'd like to use the new silencers or the old type ones he wouldn't hesitate and pick the stuff they had been using for ages and none used to have any problems with.
-
Well, they would definitely survive without the British league. I care but if someone has problems with some noise levels then what you can do? At least the real speedway may survive in Poland while in a couple of years other countries will have speedway on bikes with electric engines or something.
-
Why should Polish riders use something which is just bad and dangerous? It will miss a lot, though. Yeah. And they get. As far as I know (basing on many riders' opinions read on the internet), it's not about the track length but whether a track is slick or grippy. If it's slick, engines do not need so much power and the new silencers are not that bad in such conditions. If a track is grippy though, the new silencers suck completely. And it's not only the opinion of some Polish riders who you might heard of, like Gollob and Hampel, but of many others as well. Well, if someone has a problem with the noise in speedway, maybe it's time to give up all motor sports in their country (superbikes, formula 1, rally) and focus on more environmental friendly sport like bridge, snooker and chess? Seriously though, if someone wants speedway that sounds like lawnmower racing in their country then it's not my problem. But they have to design silencers that have the same specification as the current ones - except the noise level, of course. The silencers that don't cut the power and that don't make engines explode. Then we may have proper speedway in Poland and lawnmower racing in UK and Sweden.
-
Currently Poland has the best riders (world's no. 1, 2 and 4), the best team, 3 GP tournaments (+ Gorzow SWC) which provide A LOT of money to BSI and last but not least the best league where riders earn most of their money (you can't really compare the money they get in Poland to Sweden or UK). This may sound a bit imperialistic, but I think we are allowed to dictate certain regulations in world's speedway - especially when none seems to have balls to say NO to the dangerous crap that the new silencers are.
-
No Poles in the Swedish league either, at the moment. But I hope that's just temporary
-
I bet this is going to change as well.

Another piece of good news for those of you looking for some decent speedway around Poznan on May 1st: Division's 1 top match between Gniezno v Bydgoszcz WILL NOT be cancelled either! It's only one hour by train from Poznan to Gniezno and even if the meeting starts in the evening there should be no problem with catching some train back to Poznan ...and as I wrote earlier, if anyone would like to watch this match, I'd be happy to join you on this little trip from Poznan and back. Gniezno and Bydgoszcz line-ups
