  1. I was planning to go to Belle Vue on Friday, but when I saw the team sheet, full of guests and RR, I changed my mind and didn't go.
  2. I feel there are many problems for the UK with a set night/s ( Mondays @ Thursdays ). Stadium availability, having to ride on a night that may not be a popular night with the locals etc. Keeping our traditional nights, but having a squad system for the top league, could still attract some of the top stars and also end the curse of too many guests and RR?
  3. I have long thought Cook, is the most underrated Speedway rider around. People over the years have not fully appreciated him, I hope now he gets the recognition he fully deserves.
  4. Brilliant deal, four hours of Speedway, per week, for £25 per year. I signed up today, they said if I didn't cancel at the end of the year, it would be £60 next year, which still isn't bad.
  5. To be honest, I've lost interest in Tai, and couldn't care if he won the GP series or not. His refusal to ride the two matches involved in the British Championship, and unwillingness to ride for GB, means I don't consider him a British rider any more.
  6. I see Premier Sports TV have got the rights to both Swedish and Polish leagues. With Tuesdays showing a Swedish match followed by a Polish match.
  7. Rob Shuttleworth will have a busy time tonight, as the SGB twitter account has him riding for both Belle Vue at home and also guesting for the Isle of Wight at Plymouth! How long to drive between those two venues for the next race?
  8. I was once told, speedway crowd figures weren't announced to hide that information from the taxman.
  9. Does the KO Cup matches count, or is it league alone?
  10. I think it was important he had NL this season, he could have struggled in the top league and lost confidence. We can now see that is unlikely, but for 17 year olds, new to the sport, and new to the top league, the NL can be an important safety net.
  11. As well as attracting new fans, retaining them is vital. The pace of meetings, particularly in the cooler spring and autumn, is so important. I have witnessed long breaks for track grading followed by a heat or two later by an interval. Also how many tracks put real thought and investment into entertaining the crowds between heats? Why not hire entertainers, circus performers, trick bike riders etc. If people go home happy they will come back and bring friends and family, word of mouth is the best promotion. I have taken friends who have been bored between races and not come back.
  12. Belle Vue were a class apart tonight. Congratulations to Mark Lemon for putting such as solid team together. Despite Cook's 15 point max, Dan Bewley should be man of the match, so much promise.
  13. The pre-season preview SS, is my favourite read of the year, I cover mine in sticky back plastic to keep it strong all year!
  14. I agree with most of the comments on here, my biggest gripe is when there has been a long delay earlier in the meeting, but they still take an interval. I know they want to maximise food and drink takings, but if people don't come back next week what is the point?
  15. I would expect Smith to ride at No2 as he will ride with Bewley in the Aces team and good to get to know each other.
  16. Just two places remaining, with Kyle Bickley, almost certain for one of the reserve spots. Overall a strong looking NL team.
  17. Who is responsible for sorting out the home fixtures? Do NL officials do the job after consulting the clubs, or in this situation, does BV just say to the other clubs, 'when can you come?. Different question, have we heard officially that the team is now just 'Belle Vue Colts' rather than the original Belle Vue/Coventry Storming Colts?
  18. Five potential heat leader quality riders. Strong team, that just needs the young reserves to progress over the season.
  19. I'm another one who got back into the sport after a long absence due to Sky's coverage. If the rumours are true, it would be the biggest knock to the sport this winter, in my view.
  20. It was encouraging to hear last night that commitment to have Belle Vue at the NSS is firm, right up to the top man at the MCC.
  21. Also as it's the night before the official contracts are signed, so there may be some legal sensitivities. Also they want to announce it to the media, but if details widely known it could loose some impact.
  22. If the stadium had been handed over to BV complete, and ready for action, with South Stand with the permanent terracing that was on the plans, it is most likely none of the following drama would have happened.
  23. My suggestion for positive things about Speedway, is, the fans. Speedway folk are generally a friendly bunch. I often go to matches by myself, and it is rare not to have a pleasant chat with someone nearby.
  24. I would be happy with Cook and Fricke, Zagar was too inconsistent, for the money he was on.
