Surely the impending litigation is about the Opening Night, when we now know that the contractors had not done a proper job on bends 3/4?

Every year he makes that little bit more progress, and I see no reason for that to stop. He is the new Mr Belle Vue.

Without the Speedway Updates site, life as a Speedway fan would be a far poorer experience. -
What Was The Last Speedway Dvd/vhs You Watched?
Trevor replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I watched the Halifax Dukes DVD, it brought back lovely memories, although I would have liked a bit more action along with the interviews. -
What Would You Like From The Agm
Trevor replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I would like to see an end to the 'Joker double points', instead I would give the team manager of the team 10 points behind, the choice of gate positions, until they are no longer 10 points behind. It would give the sport greater credibility to the viewing public, and potentially encourage better racing, as the stronger, often home team, may have to come from behind more often. -
The Collapse Of The Pound And The Effect On The El
Trevor replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Always funny seeing the Remoaners grabbing any chance to spread their pessimism. The lower pound should encourage promoters to seek out more British talent, which will be to the benefit of the sport here in the UK. We have relied too heavily on mediocre riders from abroad to pad out our teams for too long. I want to see the sports top stars in the UK taking heatleader positions, however I think reserve and second string positions should in the main be British. I know we cannot switch to this overnight, but it should be the direction of travel. -
Not a good idea to have Cook and Lindgren too close together.

Amazing meeting, great atmosphere, shame about the result. Loved the passion of Cook. Silly comments from Tai, good banter from the crowd. -

The whole issue of bringing World stars back for just the last few matches of the season to try and win the league, has to stop. -
I wonder if it would be possible to bring it down to the NSS, one night, to let the fans see and take pictures?

I like the Play Off system. I like the drama, and the climactic way the season ends, to decide the Elite league Champions. However shouldn't the team finishing top of the league be presented with a league winners shield for their trophy cabinet as reward for finishing top? I know in Rugby League, Leigh were presented with a shield even though the Play Offs were what the main prize is. It does seem fitting.

A good entertaining meeting, which was run at a cracking pace, which made it even better.

In a stop start sport like speedway, it is clear music is a key part of the overall presentation, and doesn't get the thought that it should.

Yesterday at the NSS, they played 'Pirates of the Caribbean' when Poole rode around at the start of the meeting, and when they won a heat. This set me thinking in other sports there are tunes which are closely associated with teams or individuals, such as walk on music in darts ( e.g Phil Talyor 'I've got the Power'), or when the team come out in football (e.g Everton -Z Cars, Newcastle-Local Hero). I haven't been to many other tracks in recent years, but do many Speedway teams have a club piece of music? There are some obvious choices, e.g Lakeside - 'Hammer time'. It would be interesting to hear.

I've been to the NSS four times, and the racing was far better than tonight on every occasion. I hope they get the prep right for tomorrow. -

Poor form from Hancock, allowing people to buy tickets expecting to see top riders. The top riders in Speedway these days forget it's the fans who keep the sport going. -
My question is, are they spending much time together as a team, to build up a team spirit? Even though this team formula strangely does not have any team riding, a 'team spirit' is surely important to have the right attitude and approach.

Belle Vue V Leicester 15.07.16.
Trevor replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I nearly didn't go, but I really enjoyed the meeting. A credit to the new track, that was derided at the start of the season, but is now proving it's worth. -
When someone reaches the pinnacle of their sport there are often many rewards, however with that, goes the responsibility of representing that sport. They become the public face of the sport, hence the responsibility.
-
I certainly don't think Tai should be the captain of GB for the World Cup, that honour should go to someone who doesn't think it beneath him to ride in the British Championship, can speak on TV without thinking it's clever to swear, and knows the words of the British national anthem and is prepared to sing it.
-
His attitude yesterday was unprofessional, deliberately swearing on live TV, I also noticed him smirking during the national anthem's, in contrast to the way he sang the Aussie one last year. He needs to accept all that goes with being World Champion.

You need to watch racing at the NSS in person to really appreciate it, the closeness to the action and the sense of speed is what strikes you..
