  1. Ronnie Moore’s defeat of Pete Smith was at Poole on 21st July 1971. He had defeated the previous holder, Richard May of Reading, the previous week to become the new holder. He lost the Helmet at Leicester on the 27th July to Ray Wilson. Wimbledon were not involved in any Golden Helmet match races after that. Trevor Hedge, earlier in the season, had been beaten by the then holder Ole Olsen at Monmore. Coincidentally, Olsen lost the Helmet by default through injury; the same method and reason he regained it at the season’s end.
  2. Dreadful news. The best thing about watching speedway for decades was that you got the opportunity to meet some special people. Lawt was one of them. RIP
  3. Signing number six tomorrow. Happy Christmas everyone.
  4. Broc Nicol is Wolves’ third signing. Interesting.
  5. Perfectly dry and bright weather all day here. Forecast was for good weather. I don't know where this 'adverse' weather is.
  6. Jacob does ride for Dackarna tonight.
  7. Jacob Thorsell 10 paid 12 from five in Poland yesterday.
  8. £2 to pay with last week’s readmission ticket, free for juniors. As per OS.
  9. RidersI have seen : Olsen Ermolenko NIelsen Woffinden PK Lindgren MIkael Max Tempted by Dennis Sigalos but stuck with longer serving Wolves riders.
  10. There is little or no moderation and the lunatics have largely taken over. The sensible members get shouted down or abused. It seems standard for this country at present. People shouting at each other. Anyway, Happy New Year Bruno, enjoy your speedway in ‘19.
  11. Of course! Think before posting next time. Perhaps tautology is what I had in mind.
  12. Isn't 'pointless tweet' an example of oxymoron?
  13. Woffinden’s low average in 2009 played a large contributory factor in winning the play off as did his appearance in place of Kylmakorpi two years ago. Looking at the starting seven in 2018 it was / is difficult to see where the improvement was likely to occur.
  14. If you discount double uppers there are less than 100 separate riders currently in Premiership and Championship teams. Enough for 13 teams. The writing is on the wall, and has been for years.
  15. Late fitness decision on Kyle Howarth, R/R if he doe not ride.
  16. Always thought Eddie Ingells was a good rider who we should have seen more of.
  17. Terrible news. Absolute legend, an overused word but wholly deserved in his case. RIP
  18. Some might think the word 'for' is superfluous here.
  19. Meeting preview on the Wolves site does not list either team. Draw your own conclusions.
  20. The Wolves site's preview today comments on how many riders have already put equipment in storage as well as those who have departed the UK.
  21. I would agree normally but apparently Wolves have little or no choice in this, it is simply a case of availability.
