Doners123
🔥 GLADIATORS SIGN GP WILDCARD DANIEL KLÍMA! 🔥 🏁 Plymouth Speedway are thrilled to announce the signing of 22-year-old Czech sensation Daniel Klíma, who will make his debut for the Gladiators on Saturday 5th July at the Coliseum against Scunthorpe! Arriving on an assessed 4.00 average, Daniel will join Mitchell Cluff at reserve, giving the team a strong boost 💪 as they continue their charge for a Championship Play-Off spot. Daniel is no stranger to top-tier competition — with experience at Stal Gorzów and Grudziadz at U24 level, success with the Czech National Team, and a Wildcard appearance at this year’s Czech Grand Prix, he’s a rider with pedigree and passion. 🗣️ Promoter Mark Phillips: “We have seen in recent weeks that we can be strong and competitive at home against any championship team, however we have been lacking some firepower on the road, especially on some of the bigger and faster tracks. The option to bring in a very promising recruit with lots of European experience, a real desire to carve out a career in the UK and a fixture schedule that ideally suits joining us, it was an opportunity we couldn’t ignore. The fact he comes in as a 4-point rider is a bonus and gives us possible scope to further tweak the 1-7 of the team should we feel the need. It’s never a straightforward decision to replace a rider like Ben, especially when he has grown up within the club. I sincerely send my thanks to Ben for his Gladiator efforts this season, and continue to look forward to working with him with our SWTR Centurions.” 📆 Be there to see Daniel’s debut: 🆚 Scunthorpe 📍 The Coliseum 📅 Saturday 5th July Let’s give Daniel a warm Gladiators welcome 👏🙌 #Gladiators2025 #WelcomeDaniel #SpeedwaySigning #PlymouthGladiators

SaddlebowRoad
my first question would be how many meetings is he going to miss
torpointfanatic22
Unless this is the first of two changes the question has to be why sign a 4 point rider when you have nearly 8 to play with? That's just daft! We're desperate for a heat leader, given we currently only have one and the way the averages have fallen means we could have brought one in. Hopefully the promotion have another signing in the offing that we can announce after tomorrows new averages take effect, otherwise it's a bit pointless. Feel a bit for Trigger but he's not at the level required and as the overall strength of the Plymouth team is quite weak, there is no place to hide. Yet, supposedly, Klima has been signed to strengthen away performances, and Trigger is 4th in Plymouth's away averages this season. Outscoring Frederiksen, Bowtell, and (by a large margin) Barker. "Plymouth have been lacking firepower on the bigger, faster, Tracks." There are possibly three Championship tracks that, in my opinion, are remotely like the polish type tracks Klima will be used to. Plymouth have already been to two of them.

A rider was putting in some laps on Saturday when my boy was riding in the skid school, won't say his name just in case they do announce him and I am being out of line. If like you say 'the promotion have a new signing in the offing' who else loses their place in the current line up for said rider if you are right? Gladiatorphil
I do feel sorry for Ben,however right from the word go,it was obvious he wasn't really wanted and was more of a make weight. Is Cluff really any better ? I can only assume that he brings more sponsorship with him than Ben. The team have gelled together in recent matches and are a solid unit, however apart from Klindt, none of them are true HLs. Will Ben continue to ride for the Centurians now ? It could simply be Plymouth think Klima is better than Trigger & he's the best rider willing to ride for them? Ideally they should've signed an 8.00 rider, putting Bowtell to reserve, but dropping a 3.5 rider for a 4.0 rider isn't pointless. I'm sure Plymouth will be hoping Klima is better than a 4.0 rider anyway.

Unfortunately for him, he's riding in a weak team that has lots of points to spare. There are weaker reserves still with team spots due to the points limit. But looking at Klima's 2024 Polish u24 record it appears that Cluff is the BETTER rider. I think the word 'sensation' is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the Plymouth press release

SaddlebowRoad
id love to know who this imaginary eight points rider is youd imagine getting anyone that good to commit to a saturday track half way through the season is nigh on impossible

If like you say 'the promotion have a new signing in the offing' who else loses their place in the current line up for said rider if you are right? Take your pick! You'd have to say Cluff based on averages but it depends, who, if anyone, would be willing to sign. If the rider is a 9 point rider for example, then it's time to call it on Bowtell. I've always liked Alfie as a rider and he's good at Plymouth but has never improved away. To be honest outside of Klindt and maybe Thompson you could make a case for all of them to be replaced quite easily.
