now if your serious about winning a trophy.

you got to bring in Rob lambert for cook

If only, the final is only 11 days away.Couldn’t see them getting Lambert over quite so early. If they did we could have a sniff of a chance.

Can’t see it being quite yet, if at all… I can see Lewi guesting again for Ben in the cup final first leg at the AFA (as Sheffield aren’t riding that night)

If Rob came in how on his 7.81 average he finished 2023 (2019) with, he would fit perfectly for Cook using the full 40.0 limit…

Doesn't that average actually come from as far back as 2019?

He actually rode enough meetings in that last stint to achieve an updated figure undef the current regulations (6 meetings and no requirement for 3 home 3 away)

If he allowed to return again on such a ridiculous low figure it would be a scandal

The weird thing is that Robert was riding on an assessed* average so he needed to complete 3+3, which he didn’t do for either Belle Vue or Kings Lynn so he remains on his old average.

The problem is when Sheffield wanted to use him as a guest I informed them (BSPL) that he couldn’t due to being assessed* but they said he’s not (all of a sudden, brown envelopes at the ready) but they never treated his average as such ie rolling. When you weave a tangled web it is very easy to trip yourself up, best to just stick to the rules.

Second year running that Bates tried to circumvent the rule book at play off time and for the latter he was successful.

I understand the reasoning was that the guest regulation states the rider must have previously achieved an official CMA and that because that was the case despite Lamberts average being considered assessed he was allowed to guest!!

Until there is no possibility of a different answer depending on who is asking and when the sham will continue....

perhaps its already in the pipeline ?

Going by the report it will be Kerr for Cook in the final.

Should Kerr be allowed to guest as he rode for his own club in the other semi-final. I did question whether he should have rode in the semi against Ipswich. In the play-offs he wouldn't be allowed so what difference should the cup make.

This is a fair point. Really anybody should be 'cup tied' once they have appeared for a team. As you say it should be along the same lines as the Play Offs.

Of course this would have caused an issue for Lynn but there are Championship only riders who could have guested for Cook.

I suppose the difference between the play-offs and the KO Cup,is that if any team needed a rider because one of their riders are injured in the KO Cup you have no PL teams to choose a rider from,in the play-offs you have 3 teams to choose from.

You have the three teams that were knocked out in the first round Belle Vue, Oxford & Birmingham to pick from, same as the three teams to not qualify for the play offs to pick from.

That's a very good point Bash

I'm very disappointed in myself for letting that one slip past me!

"Guests for the semi-final(s) of the KO Cup can only be selected from teams that have been eliminated from that competion".Sheffield were eliminated,so I can't see a problem.

Edit:I can't actually see anything stopping the 2 teams that make the play off final from using a rider from the other two teams knocked out in the semi finals if needed.

100% agree

Perhaps another example of a poorly written regulation as I would presume that it was meant to cover teams eliminated in prior rounds but it doesn't state that

After all the plan was for the 2 semis to gave each leg on the same nights which would've prevented this situation

I believe the play offs is different and the regulation is written to ensure a rider only turns out for 1 team at any point in the 'mini series'

The rule for the play offs imo doesn't stop teams using different guests,it just stops the riders from guesting from different teams. So for instance Ipswich could use Kvech,Klindt and NKI for instance as long as they haven't ridden for anyone else.Unless I have read that wrong.
