It was the F1 Stockcar World Final. The spectator numbers ain't that much higher than when SWC/SON meetings were held there.

A normal Stockcar weekend is still 2-3x that of Speedway

Is it because fans see themselves in the drivers, they are one of them, so there is the bond, I’ve always maintained that this is what speedway has lost, we the fans no longer feel like one of them, there’s them and us now ?

My assumption is that each driver takes a load of family and friends.

Its certainly not my cup of tea but crowds are always good and essentially I'd say it funds the speedway team. Unfortunately that means high clay material but thats just how it has to be I guess.
