What’s very interesting is that Birmingham cannot seem to retain riders which is unusual.  Not a single one wanted to return

Whilst Rew is a very promising rider with lots of potential he attained that average from being at reserve most of the season.
I do fear for Birmingham yet again this coming season

For all we know Palm-Toft & Sedgmen wanted to return but Birmingham may be looking for stronger replacements?

Don't think you can blame Birmingham for Lindgren, Lampart etc not wanting to race in GB. If the issue was specific to Birmingham, they would've joined another club.

No doubt the biggest loss is Brennan not wanting to return.

It’s their last season at Perry Barr. It couldn’t get much bleaker.

Worth a go on that ave at 6...

Sedgeman on 6.00?  He's never averaged that.  He'd be an Ok reserve but I doubt Jepperson would be much more and Rew should be riding at 2.  I couldn't make that not rhyme. Sorry.  Brummies need two riders that can be more than solid reliable middle order merchants at the very least... ideally they need one of those & a rider that can push Musielak for #1.

Justin Sedgmen averaged 6.18 (6.79 with bonus) in his 7 Birmingham matches this year. The fact he's available on 4.79 makes him a very useful signing, especially when you consider he could start at reserve (his above average was in the top 5).

But that potential gain for the team will be nullified of they can't build to the points limit.

In all fairness, Sedgemen's average is only that high because he had one good meeting 15 paid 16 @ home to Ipswich in the Cup....he was considerably average in the other meetings....

Not a signing that will make B'ham a decent looking side!

Not quite my reading, I think with Brennan it's more that the move to Ipswich was more attractive, with the team they have he can learn from them.  If Ipswich wasn't available maybe he'd have stayed at Brum.  I don't know him and haven't asked him but there's other reasons why riders change clubs, not just that they don't want to be at one.

That would mean Rew & Jepperson at #2 & #4. Brummies would need Zmarzlik as the other rider to be competitive is Sedgeman signed

And what makes you an expert?

Mate I don't claim to be an expert manager of a Speedway team, Laurence for all his good points outside of managing a senior Speedway Team, he is pretty crap at the actual managing/recruiting of various senior teams over the years, he has had a fair bit of success with junior teams over the years and always encourages young riders in their careers, but that in itself doesn't make him a good Team manager, others more knowledgeable than me will probably know which teams he has managed with varying degrees of success.

I will tell you what I am an expert in, knowing what is a good team and what is a bad team, I have seen a lot of both over the years and Laurence has managed more than his fair share of the latter

I'm dreading the last 2 announcements!?

It's all gone quiet....even the excuses are drying up!!

My opinion is that LR is content with a sh#te first team as long as he's got his NDL to play with.

Said it a long time ago....Tolley's first signing should have been someone that knows about speedway at prem level....

Let's see what happens?!

Cradley had some talks with Moseley rugby club last year which showed promise but after a couple of months and meetings it suddenly went cold on the Moseley side for whatever reason

The 2 Rugby Clubs whose bases might have been worth a look a decade or so ago were Dudley Kingswinford or Stourbridge. Both accessible with services and utilities in place and plenty of land around.

Sadly fairly affluent areas where the noise would have been an issue even for a few hours and week.

I always thought "The Dell" next to the Athletics Track in Pensnett or strips of land off Level Street adjacent the old Round Oak goods yards would have been another place. Similarly the "shelf" of land by Netherton Cricket Club opposite the Reservoir?

I'm sure everyone involved looked at those areas but go absolutely no encouragement from the Council?

is there a reason why you constantly blame rogers

im assuming tolley and adams also have significant inputs into what goes on

id probably wait and see who the last two signings are before getting too downbeat

the team already looks significantly better than last years debacle
