If successful would they start NDL or go higher? Surely a club of stature like Cradley would have to aim higher? ( Thanks for the update on 360, a great watch). I am 99.9% sure that the NDL is not on the horizon. 18 hours ago, TB1 said: Thanks for the update. I've been keeping tabs on their Facebook page. In my opinion speedway could be boosted by having big names like Cradley and Coventry back at the top table. I don't think there is any great appetite to be at the top table, and whilst Monday & Thursday remain as PL race nights I can't see Cradley starting off in the Premier League, which leaves just the remaining League, I know they prefer to run on there historical racenight and it's probably easier to get PP to race on that day due to prevailing traffic conditions on weekends as opposed to weekdays. Not the best but the most popular Paco, Bomber, Nicholls, Doyley and Emil

Still needs a strong planning justification for the site. Will it interfere with the openness of the greenbelt? What buildings/structures are being planned? Non except the track, maybe changing rooms as a permanent building, the rest will be containers for storing equipment, it will look similar to Workington which to anyone who has been there looks like a country park with a track in the middle, you won’t see it off the road and wouldn’t know it was there, no it’s not straightforward and the council certainly aren’t making it straightforward Edited Thursday at 08:08 AM by THE DEAN MACHINE
THE DEAN MACHINE
If people think a speedway track is something they don’t want there is a new menace coming down the road for green belt land and that is solar battery facilities and there is one being proposed about 5 miles from the proposed cradley track although it does fall under another council and they are going to spring up all over the place over the next 5 years ruining the green landscape

This area is, of course, famous for regular long hot summers with many hours of sunshine all year round😉. Meant to ask you Deano, what RPMs are the rev limiters set to & what do the bikes asctually rev to ? Each time I tell bikers & mecahics "speedway engines: 500cc single cylinder 4-stroke, rev to circa 12 - 13,000 RPM, need a rebuild every 20 miles or so" eyes widen & jaws often drop..... I think the current rev limiter is set at 12,500, on track with the drag of the wheel they rev to about 10-11000 at most British tracks,at the start line without the drag of the wheel they rev to about 12,000 but sometimes you can hear some riders hit the limiter, without the limiter they would probably hit 13,500 revs
martinmauger
Thanks for reply Deano kinda what I thought. Of course you have the riders who once the green light illuminates open the throttle fully & keep it pinned til the tapes rise and those who use the same method to 'warm a bike up' from cold (!), cringe, prepare to duck the flying shrapnel....
