Speedway on tv. Who do we look to now?

Recommended Posts

So with Tnt deal over, who can we look to now.? Or are we looking for streaming service only from the relevant clubs. Perhaps Premier Sports will take it on as they already cover it in Sweden. If not Bein Sports who have several sports channels. Could Sky or Eurosport be tempted back ?

The problem with individual Clubs streaming meetings and to a certain point BSN you are preaching to the converted.  If it is on one of the more main stream channels (SKY, BT, TNT, Premier etc.) it brings the sport to the attention of people who wouldn’t necessary watch it or at the very least brings it to there attention as they flick through the channels. It is then up to the people who run the sport that the product on show is enough to hold their interest and keep them wanting to watch again and increase the fan base.

Totally agree main stream tv is the way forward. If it’s not there we have to take what’s there to pick up. Having said that BSN in my eyes do a cracking job.

True & absolutely not true. BSN is just 'preaching to the already converted' & won't add anything in growing the sport. At the same time, Sky & BT/TNT added absolutely nothing to attendances for British Speedway too. Even with these "Mainstream" channels, British Speedway has continually declined & clubs disappeared.

There is only one last step for British Speedway to attempt, almost everyone's favorite platform, YouTube.

Free to all, the largest viewing platform & a potential global audience. If the BSPL don't want to offer the product 'free to air', have Live meetings on YouTube under "Members Only" at £10 a month, then release the meetings to all a week later.

British Speedway needs to look at a 10 year growth plan rather than just looking at the now, chasing whomever will pay up the biggest bucks.

YouTube is THE biggest growth plan the BSPL could use & it's cheap
