old bob at herne bay
If Len Silver (bless him) couldnt make it work, then there's zero chance of any of these new "promoters" making it work at Central Park. As well as the exorbitant rent demands, never shook off the silly local resident who seemed to have the local council in her pocket re the noise of the speedway. Seems barking dogs are acceptable ?? MajorMauger
Well Central Park has two spare days a week, presumably one of them is a Monday night, the night the Kings used to race there? Would make an exceptional top flight speedway venue in an area that supported 3rd Division speedway in decent numbers at the same stadium. No doubt the rent would be high but surely worth asking about?

But thats the thing Len Silver DID MAKE IT WORK for about 5 seasons all be it in the lesser bottom league but he made it work under Cearns. He is on record that he made a profit for Roger. The point im trying to make is are ALL sports going to be banned at Central Park or does it take someone with fresh ideas and a fresh positive fresh approach to get any sport off the ground at central park, and once that happens other sports will follow. There is going to become a time where greyhounds need help to get the most out of the stadium. old bob at herne bay
Sorry speedwaysliders .... yeah I know it worked for 5 seasons with Roger Cearns and Len , but there was always the issue with the neighbour forcing a ridiculously early curfew, and the final straw was the rent increase. There's decent support for Sunday afternoon 3rd division fare at nearby Iwade for half a dozen meetings a year, but for regular evening speedway that has to start at 6.30 pm on a Monday (a reserved Premier League day ) ?? Needs someone fresh I will agree with you there 🙂
