Is there a BSN App? No, but our website can be saved to any smart phone or tablet as an App. You will be prompted to do this when visiting our website on your device – simply follow the instructions and once complete, you can access all of BSN’s services via an App icon in the same way that you would any other App. Edited Friday at 03:52 PM by IainB
Technik
I have to admit to being one of the aforementioned "Old Farts" & my advise would be to make your site now ready for the start of January 2026 then try to offer it to the BSPL/SCB & the clubs as a draft & get some feedback from that level. If it sounds OK then continue. Don't give up at the first hurdle, there are many options already available & I'm sure that a lot of people have tried them all & offer good or bad reports for each. think about what you want to know & use that first you can always add or take away. In all honesty I don't think you will be allowed a direct feed from the Referee as some of their information is considered protected via the ACU data protection. Also weather reports are often misleading for example I was stood at the track in bone dry conditions & my friend called to say he was 20 minutes away in a monsoon & was considering turning around. It was a great meeting & never a hint of the wet stuff. Good luck.

No and Yes, it's not an app as in it's not available from the app stores (official or unofficial)... but when you save it as per the instructions it adds it to your app screen and it works very much in the same way as an app visually rather than a webpage. As you did ask for ideas, rather than re-inventing the wheel, and as others have mentioned I do believe you'd find it almost impossible to source the data, BSPL are not renowned for data sharing, if I were developing an app I'd be doing something interactive aimed at the kids, some along the lines of the old panini albums like fill a team screen with selfies with the riders, manager, mascot etc. add rewards and collectibles, make it addictive or something like the Pokemon app that swept the globe a few years ago, which was basically a treasure hunt. If you didn't have any success flogging it to the BSPL, the more forward thinking clubs that are trying to engage the kids with their interval kids races may be more receptive. The idea was to have a direct feed from the referees scorecard, as I know BSN do that and was hoping with the correct backing I would be able to use it as well, but as you say that would need support from BSPL/SCB. The main idea was to make this information and past meetings as accessible as possible as it can be found, but it is often in different places and not easy to find if you don't know. Someone new to the sport is not going to know of sites like speedway updates, but would be more likely to download an official app IMO. Also there isn't anywhere you can see a riders career history and stats, or more in depth information to learn about teams and riders. I have corresponded with the app developer today to let him know of this thread, and although he has read the comments so far there seems to be an issue with him signing up to the forum that is preventing him from posting, which hopefully is fixed shortly.

Maybe they could develop a forum that is administered and moderated efficiently 😂

Racin Jason 72
I would like to see each club have an app which would be identical in format. I would like the match day programme to be available and be able to compile my programme during the meeting digitally. maybe a couple of cameras fixed in each pit area so during breaks I can see the action in the pits rather than tractor racing. id like the presenter to interview team managers and riders during the meeting as normally over the pa you cannot hear properly. id like to vote for my rider of the night and maybe have competitions to enter. Guess the final score and two top scorers would win a pit tour the following week I’d like information during the week of future meetings and news. Promotions for app users this in my view would give my race day experience a much better value for money without the clubs spending a fortune.

Lots of good stuff in here and all stuff that could be linked in one main British speedway app. Thanks for the ideas.
SpeedwayPortal
I would like to see each club have an app which would be identical in format. I believe the app is setup for this and the developer has reached out to all of the UK clubs individually for their consideration. I would like the match day programme to be available and be able to compile my programme during the meeting digitally. Even better imo, this app does the filling in for you in fantastic speed and accuracy. maybe a couple of cameras fixed in each pit area so during breaks I can see the action in the pits rather than tractor racing. Most clubs now offer live streams, where this footage is covered. The streams bring in a much needed positive additional income arm for those clubs. id like to vote for my rider of the night and maybe have competitions to enter. Guess the final score and two top scorers would win a pit tour the following week As the app has only recently gone live, and many great additions already been implemented, these ideas are most welcome and will be carefully considered. I’d like information during the week of future meetings and news. Promotions for app users The app has a fully up to date news section, taken from both the official clubs Facebook feed and from it's website which has all of that information. this in my view would give my race day experience a much better value for money without the clubs spending a fortune. The only thing I personally would add as a comment is whilst you would want to limit the amount of spending out on these ideas, some ideas have the potential to take away much needed revenue that the club is already bringing in from other areas providing these ideas. 1

Yeah I know they can be found with some digging, but again it is another site, with poor UI/UX, which is fine if you are a stats enthusiast, but not if you are someone who wants something quick and easy and visually pleasing. THE DEAN MACHINE
Got to honest here and I suppose I’m showing my age even though I’m not old, apps don’t really float my boat, my phone has the bare minimum apps on it and most of those are used for work, what’s app, bank and Waze being 3,I’m not on twatter or instagram or TikTok or any of those apps, I do use FB but that’s more for buying and selling and do have or accept any friends on there,I don’t use any speedway apps at all and wouldn’t if one was created, I guess this is not really aimed at me though, I like to live my life in the physical world and just don’t get the fascination with them Edited 6 hours ago by THE DEAN MACHINE

Maybe a subscription model could be employed whereby you enter a code printed in the matchday programme that also gets you coverage of the stream, or something available on local wifi? My thought process with the programme argument for the people who have mentioned that is, if you gain 1 person at a £20 admission fee that offsets the £3 loss on not selling a programme

Kieran22222
I agree with you, physical media and the real thing is always the best - put it this way, I wouldn't buy the digital version of the Speedway Star, but I will buy the physical copy. I am just trying to think of ways to make the sport easier to follow and understand for new and existing fans. If you could see all the scores, news, tables, rider profiles, etc in one space, it makes it easier to learn about the sport.
