Telford classic off road show

Recommended Posts

Next weekend the 7-8th Feb is the classic off road show at the Telford international center, it’s a huge show with 1000s of bikers and family’s attending over the 2 days, the usual speedway suspects have stalls there, me, Jan staechmann,,Aiden and Les Collins (ride &Skid) Cov comp,Hagon shocks,Sid’s wheels, I think Buxton, belle vue supporters club and Workington are all represented there and you always get a good sprinkle of former riders, but where are the bspl or speedway futures again ???? It costs peanuts for a stand and as I’m sure the usual folk will say why bother? Well it’s not preaching to the converted for a start,,we need to set up a team that does all the shows no matter how big or small,,we have to get out there and go to the people, anyway hope to see you there

Had a stall at this event, every year since Alan Wright started it at various venues, Ryton, Malvern, Telford etc., gave it a miss last year for the first time ever, and never really missed it, so once again this year will give it a swerve.

If Alan Wright had not fallen out with Malvern Showground it would probably still be there ? Telford is a nightmare venue for the public, parking etc.and there is nowhere for the show to expand, Mortons/Kelsey must have called me about 5 times ,including last week, asking if I wanted a stall, so sounds like there are still spaces available ?

I will be keeping my powder dry for Bristol Classic show

how much would it be for a stall, ive got loads of old speedway programs and speedway stars to sell.? even my old Boston body colours., no 6 and 7.

I pay £120 but that’s for 3.5 meters by 3 meters but you can get cheaper for smaller, to be honest mate what you’re selling you’re better off at either the paradise park one in march or the speedway show at at Warwick, both are cheaper and more tailored towards the memorabilia crowd, Telford is tailored towards the bike side of it

Fabulous couple of days at the show, made a couple of pennies and hopefully along Jan staechmann, Aiden and Les Collins  Buxton, belle vue and Workington and their stands all got speedway out there. Where were the bspl ? Where were speedway futures ? Where were all the other teams, it’s FREE for clubs to have a stand to 1000s of folks, I despair at this sport at times

Glad it worked out OK, Dean I would have been outside with a stall, looking at the weather, looks like I made the right decision, spoke to a couple of stall holders, the ones inside all said they did all right, the ones outside, some did not get everything out of the van, and all packed up early, apparently the outdoor autojumble was a poor show on the second day.

I will support the Ledbury grass track autojumble on the 8th March though

Only went outside to the auto jumble briefly on Saturday between 9-10 and although it was peeing down it was packed, inside Saturday was a really good day, lot more people imo than previous years, I did ok, Sunday not so good as is usually isn’t but still did fair, spent more time catching up with my ex team mates than selling stuff and finding out what’s going on in the speedway world, I think it’s a really good social event and another missed opportunity for British speedway, on Sunday Henry cole and his two sidekicks turned up to film shed and buried, well it’s fake, they came set up a fake stall and pretended to buy something of it,filmed it, filmed them having a cup of tea then packed up stall and cameras and left .fake tossers

Yes have "met" Henry Cole a fair few times, and have had a stall next to him and opposite him, it is all" for the telly" you cannot get near his stall for idiots queuing up to buy an autographed Dunlop puncture repair outfit , or to take a selfie.

Fair do's to the bloke , he gets bikes on the small screen and has monetized his antics, but is actually next to clueless on anything motorcycle, I have even explained to the chump what something was, and watched him do a piece to camera calling it something else, and still did not buy it. I have also been present at auctions and when you outbid him , he is not happy, nor can understand why someone else bid more !

I have the greatest respect for Sam Lovegrove and have known him for years and am in awe at the ability of Alan Millyard

Glad it all worked out for you Dean, I have only once stopped for the Sunday in 20 odd years, and like all 2 day shows/autojumbles the second day is short on buyers and not cost effective for a second nights stop over.
