norbold
Very sad news. I met him out in New Zealand over 20 years ago. He spent a day with me showing me the sights of Auckland, including Western Springs Raceway. His views on Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs were particularly entertaining! I think you could say he was not exactly star-struck! In the evening he and his wife, Lynda, took my wife and me out to dinner, where we met up with Tommy Sweetman. It was a great day. He was so friendly and informative. Oh yes, and he was a pretty good rider in his day too! R.I.P., Bob.

Tim Templeton
I met Bob at Rosebank speedway (Auckland) about 25 years ago. We became friends, and I always visited him in NZ, where my sons lived. He stayed with me here in the UK (Poole) four times over the years, once with his wife Lynda. He made me a member of the NZ Veteran's Association when he was secretary for many years. You will be missed Bob. R.I.P.
salty
Saw Bob ride in my first meeting in 1968 and was one of my favourite Heathens for the next few years, apart from his one year sojourn at Hackney. A lovely man. RIP
