Jon Armstrong will be pleased at being termed young.

In isolation that's all Peterborough may have gained but since Holdergate the BSPA haven't been allowed to run in their usual unnacountable self interest manner, so in the longer term Rathbone's fights might benefit everybody.

I think you're right. While its a very reasonable point to suggest that Rathbone (with the backing of the SCB) has forced the BSPA to change an unfair and illegal rule, all it has gained Peterborough is a rider on a hugely inflated average.

Why does anyone care how Kurtz, Fricke or Morris do abroad? It’s how they do over here that matters and last season Morris was better than Kurtz and Kurtz better than Fricke i couldn’t give 2 monkeys who is better in Poland it’s how they perform over her that matters, which is why there is still a doubt over Woryna and MS. Doesn’t matter who he beats abroad it’s who he can beat over here

Phillips has proven that he can be amongst the points in the Championship, whereas the other 2 haven’t. Surely it’s a no brainer?!

Both the same age 21 , and you cant really guarantee anything, can you ? nobody can

Must agree with Gemini. If Harris has a personal grievance with Mick Horton, he should keep that private. The Leicester venture, risky as it obviously is, does not need comments from Harris to try to destroy it before it starts. Whatever the case for the Bees, the fact is that ANY Speedway needs to be supported, no matter in what name, or who the promoter is. There will be 7 young riders at Leicester wearing a Bees bib and THEY deserve to have the lift that fans can give.

Don't get me wrong Starman, I like Brady he is young and entertains crowds, but to say he will be far better than Fricke is similar to saying Crump was far better than Adams, he wasn't and I'm pretty sure you'll agree on that. As for Dan becoming a good rider, he already is a good rider, he has only just turned 18 this month, so for a 17 year old in his first season in the top flight to beat F Lindgren,(who is nigh on unbeatable round the NSS) says alot about his ability. So yes I rate Dan very high and the fact that he is British excites me even more, another Brit I also rate highly is Zach Wajtknecht at Swindon, he has beat Dan round the NSS , and that's no mean feat. There are other Young British riders coming through, keep your eye's on K Bickley, T Brennan is another to watch. These lads are our future Team GB riders, and I firmly believe they are better prospects than any Aussie of the same age.

Exactly, Buster and co have made a dog's breakfast of the job but they are the latest in a long line of chairmen and committees to do the same.

What colour do you want your 3 legged unicorn in? Getting that would be a more reasonable expectation.....

...I'd agree regarding "it isn't always about racing" as I used to enjoy having a good chat with those around me but when those people began to noticeably diminish over a period of a few years (for many reasons) the attraction began to wear a bit thin and it was left to just a few to add some bite to proceedings. In fact the racing sometimes became very much secondary on occasions!

How can it be that Morris is on a point less than Nicholls in the CL (for which Nicholls had no average) when Morris has a (much) better PL average. The rules continue to be a joke!!

Exposure on TV can help to remind the public that speedway exists and hopefully make them want to go and watch it live. Whether these are new or lapsed fans is immaterial, as long as they attend. Equally whether a viewer is a regular attendee at matches or just watches on TV is immaterial. They contribute to the viewing figures that keep the sport being televised. You could apply the above equally to sponsors. TV coverage to me is a superb bonus that allows me to watch matches that I could not otherwise attend and also maintains and feeds my love of the sport. I suspect I'm not alone. Are speedway supporters really only capable of watching one match a week? Only speedway with its limited, negative thinking, which does so very much to stifle it and destroys the opportunities I mentioned above, could blow it so consistently year in year out. All sports need TV, which is why they clamour for coverage. Well, all but one, it seems.

For those that were unable to attend, here is some footage taken at the event including many interview with past and present riders and management etc. Brought to you by T2TV Media & Speedway Portal Apologies for the large embed

I think it will always be a problem if you sign a rider knowing his average will almost certainly drop by a point or more. The idea is to improve averages or at least maintain them. Having said that, Nicholls might not be the only problem.

It is not the ambition thing that is the problem it is getting the package and finance to keep progressing with your aquipment.Bewley has come a long long way in a short amount of time i don't want to go overboard on him to early as the likes of Mel Taylor,Mark Courtney,Lewis Bridger a few examples who did not fulfil there potential. But i am pretty confident in Dan he will certainly be a regular in the World team cup team and i would love him to stay at Belle Vue for a long time as I can see him being a dominant home rider that track suits him down to the ground. As for Fricke/Kurtz i respect your view but i see Max at the Abbey at the end of the season and he slammed Doyle in one race and looking very fast a class act in my view both will be in the mix for a future GP spot.

I would be more than happy if those were our final 2. I think that it would be more than a decent team. Stronger than last year.

don't think nicholls (be had a good season if he gets anywhere near 8.5) is the problem with the team
  19. 1 point
No, it used be that no rider with a top league average over 6 could ride in the lower league at all.

Still higher than any Worky rider will end up.....

Quite simply week after week it was broadcast in front of a minimal, atmosphere-less crowd.

where it's got panthers ??? , its not helped them build a decent side has it ??? if you keeping 5h1tting on a doorstep you'll end up stepping in it , looking at panthers side they've stepped in a heap of it . so what's ged won out this battle ??? another upcoming season of uncertainty

Perhaps the Bandits will win the league and the last line of the film can be "I love it when a plan comes together"

The lack of an answer to TV screening from either BT or BSPA suggests to me that negotiations are still ongoing. Personally I can't see the previous big money ever happening from either BT or Sky, if they ever do it again it will be vastly reduced to reflect the decline of our sport. I also think speedway is at such a low point the BSPA will grab any amount on offer in their desperation to survive. There are so many negatives surrounding speedway which urgently need addressing, and it will only begin to improve when Promoters actually start to promote again. Reducing the number of meetings will save money short term but will have a more detrimental effect when the hard core (lifeblood) supporters turn away. I really fail to understand why speedway is difficult to 'sell' - it's a fast, dangerous, colourful, noisy, and exciting team game which is family friendly and has all the ingredients to attract new faces. It's almost like a best kept secret and that doesn't help it survive - neither will increased entrance fees.

Gotta admit i'm not sure why Birmingham went with Davey instead of JPB! They are both of a similar standard now, but expect JPB to improve greatly over the season compared to Davey!
