  1. Cancel day 2 of SON - have the GP one day & SON on the other

  2. THE magazine is printed on a Tuesday evening and collected by Royal Mail in the early hours of Wednesday from printers. As previously stated, having paid for first class mail next day delivery should be the norm but right now it is very erratic. The only consolation is that so much of the current content is not dated and, hopefully, provides entertaining reading whenever you get it.

  3. I can assure you that I run this company in a totally professional way. ALL..repeat ALL clients money is held in a separate account...and we were lucky..not clever... in that the monies paid to airlines in advance are in the process of refund...same with 2 meeting stadium tickets....same with 2 hotels. Had this dreadful shutdown happened a month later, it doesn't bear thinking about. We have contacted all affected clients, and once extra meetings are OFFICIALLY cancelled, they too will be looked after. We have offered financial structured refund policy, and 80% of our superb clients money is deposit only...and we are grateful that everyone has been supporting us whilst we re-structure and plan. Nobody will suffer financially..except (sadly) yours truly. However I do take exception to your remarks about (a fine company) Shearings, and I am advised that your statement is libellous...We are NOT taking bookings on anything..and in fact have already cancelled everything up to September.and should this quarantine continue, then I will cancel any affected tour..I will nOt risk my clients money, well being or health..Should you wish to speak with me then I would be happy to put you correct. As for Speedway Star the management, staff and product is an organisation Speedway should be proud of. The product of late has been amazing given these troubled times...and i am both proud and grateful to be associated with them.

  4. Always been known as Pepsi. My sister and I went to the same school, and he was in her class. He came from the Daisy Hill estate, but later lived on Shields Road opposite the Wolsie Pub.

  6. There is not going to be any meetings this year with crowds. My opinion is it aint going to happen. On that basis there is no problem having the British GP at BV - excellent track for racing, as we all know, and an empty stadium wont look out of place for world wide TV coverage. Its whether there will be movement across borders of people by then.

  7. Reality hurts. It's not negative to deal in realities. Peoples lives are more important right now. over 1100 dead in last 3 days, ONS say infections are still running at thousands per day.

  15. Rudy Muts, started his racing career in second halves at Wimbledon in 1976 and retired from British speedway in 1982. He only ever rode for Wimbledon although he did ride on the continental Europe and Australia. He was prevented from riding in the National League due to his nationality. Two major issues may prevent any rider solely riding for just one team. Firstly, if they start riding in a lower league they may improve and want test themselves against better riders, thus causing them to move teams. Secondly, the track they started racing for may sadly close down. These two points would have affected most iders during their careers. for example Peter Collins who started riding for Rochdale Hornets, not only did he move upto riding for Belle Vue but also Rochdale who were basically a disguised Belle Vue Colts team closed down.

  16. I think finishing 18 heats within 2 hours will be more of a problem than getting shale.

  17. Well said James. We've crossed swords occasionally but I sympathise with you totally in this situation. Clearly you are doing your best. Your business and Sharings are rather different. You don't have a large fleet of coaches and a chain of hotels to run. I do hope that this will carry out through, as I do with all businesses involved with speedway at this awful time. Real people are getting hurt, apart from the tragic loss of life.

  18. Davey and Timmo are fine, but I'm shocked that, in addition to the two teams you named, you didn't know that Mike Keen had an outing for Oxford at Southampton in 1963!

  21. I think they will be ok- orginally i think i read that they would have to ride their home matches in Poland but i think that has changed now and they can ride in Latvia.

  23. Why another meeting in GB, just cancel it and maybe one or two GP meetings in Poland at the end of the year with or without people!!

  24. Another track I was not familiar with, in Stockton, CA. This was from the San Pedro News Pilot, on 2nd July, 1935. Miny Waln Cops Feature Bike Race at Stockton "Miny Waln, Syracuse, N.Y., won the final scratch event of a motorcycle racing program marked by several spills at the Stockton speedway last night. Sam Arena, San Jose, finished second to the former national champion in the main race."

  27. I agree with HGould. Sorry Rob, if you cant see that the situation is real and this lockdown will only be released very slowly and in stages. Just banging hundreds and thousands of people together at sports events and similar is just looking trouble straight in the face, the hospitals will be full, front line staff will be back into danger, so events with spectators are just not going to happen this year I reckon. I have my concern about professional football taken place, even behind locked doors. Its a contact sport. Speedway seems ok, because the riders are naturally pretty well protected, pit crew will just have to stay apart and be fewer in number.

  28. Honestly... Slow news day... So something for the weekend... a triple smile... A guy is late for an important meeting. But he can't find a place to park. In desperation, he begins to pray. "Please Lord, if you help me find a parking space right now, I promise to go to church every Sunday and never drink vodka again!" A moment later, he sees a beautiful empty spot right next to the entrance. "Never mind. Found one!" A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named Amal. The other goes to a family in Spain. They name him Juan. Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Amal. He responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal." It could've been worse. James is walking through the town one day, and he happens to see his old high school friend, Harry, a little ways up ahead. "Harry, Harry, how are you?" he greets his old buddy after getting his attention. "Not so good," says Harry. "Why, what happened?" James queries. "Well," Harry says, "I just went bankrupt and I've still got to feed my family. I don't know what I'm going to do." "Could have been worse," James replies calmly. "Could have been worse." A month or so later, James again encounters Harry, in a restaurant. "And how are things now?" he asks. "Terrible!" says Harry. "Our house burned down last night." "Could have been worse," "Could have been worse," says James, again with total aplomb, and goes about his business. A month later, James runs into Harry a third time. "Well, how goes it?" he inquires. "Oh!" says Harry. "Things just get worse and worse. It's one tragedy after another! Now my wife has left me!" Harry nods his head and gives his usual optimistic-seeming little smile, accompanied by his usual words: "Could've been worse." "Could have been worse," This time, Harry grabs James by the shoulders. "Wait a minute!" he says. "I'm not gonna let you off so easy this time. Three times in the past few months we've run into one another, and every time I've told you the latest disaster in my life. Every time you say the same thing: 'Could have been worse.' This time, for God's sake, Harry, I want you to tell me: how in Heaven's name could it have been any worse?" James looks at Harry with the same little wisp of a smile. "Could have been worse," he says. "Could have happened to me." Boom Boom.... Stay Well; Stay Safe and have a great weekend... Regards THJ

  29. Sounds like he didn't have a very good upbringing? (not making excuses for him) Such a waste......he's a very likeable character (in speedway terms) and a terrific entertainer on a bike! Wished that he'd had better guidance in life!

  31. If only we had realised at the time, the amount of conniving & underhandedness the result of that final would cause .The shenanigans that followed had a huge impact on British Speedway, & not for the better I might add.

  32. JAMES Easter has been a mate for more years than I can remember and both he and TPT have made a tremendous contribution (s) to speedway over the years. Unlike some of his predecessors, when thousands travelled to World Finals, James has remained loyal to speedway and puts his heart, sole and considerable reputation into his tours. No one is forced to go with them but hundreds who do come back every year because they like the itineraries, know that the hotels and travel arrangements will be perfect and that everything is taken care of. I make no apology for any favourable references to TPT.

  33. What a load of gibberish (again). If crowds could be allowed to attend events with limited numbers the EPL could restrict attendances and allow fans in, they aren't - talking about shopping and sport side by side at the moment is moronic.

  34. Yep, plenty thanks. My partner quit New Cross Wolverhampton due to bulls#!+ going on. There's a lot of very very bad practice & miss management going on in the NHS but nobody dare speak up except for trying to throw the government under a bus. Happy but not happy & upset to be the bad guy if you like. A few bullet points for you PPE being wasted for social media videos Gowns are an unnecessary shortage concern in the fight against Coronavirus Staff refusing to work Corona wards even though their own wards are empty Staff congregating from all wards every Thursday @8 & not adhereing to necessary social distancing 1000's of PPE in hospital storage that is out of date but safe in the protection against Coronavirus Departments refusing to share PPE with Corona wards although they're not busy or short of PPE Staff hoarding PPE from other staff That's a few. It's a horrible horrible place to be & staff are regularly being threatened with the sack by Matrons. For the record, my partner WAS involved in infection prevention & another ward killed her elderly, vulnerable auntie buy putting her, with dementia, a chest infection & renal faliure into a Corona riddled care home. So yes, this #ClapForCareers is absolutely bull$#!+ imo & I'm / we are fookin angry
