A pretty decent night out I thought. Was weird seeing Newport in the dark :D A few good heats, not alays passing but somtimes watching riders chasing down others can be just as good, there wasn't a racing line, literally all of the track was being used (Aspgren took it too far by going over the fence!)

The final was a belter.

2 individual meetings in 2011 and both won by 2011 Bees riders, just need it confirmed our team is back now.

Most riders did something impressie at some stage, James Wright though, eeekkkk!

My first night at the track under the floodlights and what a difference. The track actually looks a proper speedway circuit now.

Not passing galore but better than your average meeting.

Fisher was superb in the final after missing the start though I do feel Iversen fell asleep when he went around him. Iversen was all over him for the rest of the race just couldn't get back passed. Lanham was in the mix for a few laps as well.

Lanham was the best Wasp on the night. I was expecting good things from Aspegren but he was woeful tonight. Definate bike problems I think he just looked terribly slow. As I was leaving he was going out for a practice.

Nilsson started and finished superbly just had two poor rights in between! He was all over Iversen in their race.

Jones silenced his critics with a solid 6 points. He went around Davies and Aspegren in one move and in another race he held off NKI superbly, every bend he knew where Iversen was going. Definately more to come.

Legault looked average, nothinf flash but didn't struggle. Our two reserves looked tidy, Kurtz in one race passing Legault and just missing out on Screen.

A decent enough crowd of around 900 and a meeting that didnt drag on forever and ever like in previous years. Track was not watered once despite a warm day and no dust at all. I would never ever run an afternoon meeting at Newport Speedway again if I was promoter.

So a good night, good meeting and a Newport finalist.

A LOT of bike problems tonight. Pretty impressed with all the Wasps. Especially Lanham and Jones. Jones on the pace all times and very clever riding as the previous comments said. These two had their bikes set up perfectly all meeting. Aspegren definitely seemed to have plenty of bike problems and Alex Davies seemed slower than his usual self in a few races. Kurtz looked very decent too while not quite getting as many points he arguably deserved. Barker and Parker both had a few bike problems too as did Screen who was all or nothing (0,3,0,3,0)

Track looked brill IMO and the lights are brighter than last season which is great.

I felt Iversen deserved to win this and was without doubt the classiest rider on display. Fisher always great to watch though and that win was surely a surprise to all after being left with the outside gate which was pretty much very poor all night. Congrats to him though and I look forward to seeing him next week. I had a bet with a friend that Iversen would win it and he went for Fisher so I was a bit gutted afterwards.

Bit of fun with the fireworks afterwards too.

Aspgren bike problems? Just looked poor to me.

As for Iversen deserving the win, are you for real? Gated 4 times for wins in the heats, missed the start and finished last and then picked off in the final.

Been to Newport a dozen or so times now over the years and the new laid track is the best I've ever seen it for sure and under lights it looked great. However I have to be honest and say whilst there were 1 or 2 decent races tonight I've never seen much passing at the Newport track. Crowd was decent though and was one of the better meetings I've seen at Queensway Meadows. Bring on the new season.

Aspegrens bikes just seemed flat to me. I was told that he was riding a different bike to what he rode on P&P day when he looked twice as fast although why change set ups?

Fisher went around Iversen because I dont think Iversen knew how close he was, you could tell it was one of those rides where Iversen got caught napping. He was right up Fishers behind for the next three laps almost going back past him.

No, I can ensure you Aspegren had bike problems. As for the second part, did you not read the rest of what I said? I had a bet on with Iversen and I've always liked him a lot. Could this not possible favour me into supporting him more? And I also say I felt which makes it my opinion. Gating is a big part of speedway anyway, I'm sure you know. Iversen isn't exactly going to purposely miss to gate and go for wins just to impress you more than your new rider. I also praised Fisher  Just leave people to their own opinions. It's not too hard, especially when the opinions have nothing to do with you.
