Yes, he comes from Falkirk and has done extremely well for the Saints given his almost total lack of speedway experience.

Helfer is racing in a lot of end of season continental meetings according to reports Mr Snaps.. On another subject i see that Richard 'Rastaman' Lawson is being replaced by guest Aaron Summers on friday as his shoulder 'hasnt responded to treatment'. Call me Mr Cynical but isnt this is just a wee bit convenient after Richards pish poor showings at Armadale in the recent past,and last saturdays ahem grasstrack meeting at Derwent Park?! I'm prepared to be shot down in flames for doubting the poor wee soul.. if he has an excuse note written and signed by his mammy of course..

His first wins against Stoke last month were some of the most happily celebrated 3 points that the EWR saw all season.

 

He's a likeable whole hearted trier, and they are always welcome at a meeting I'm watching. But, realistically, any points the lad scores will be a bit of a bonus come Friday night.

I would like to see you try and ride after dislocating your shoulder haha. Dont think I have seen anyone in 14 years of watching speedway, ride after dislocating their shoulder and putting it back in and then going out and getting a paid win around BRough park! He has had shoulder problems before so I am sure he doesnt want to make the same mistake again. Is Rene back does anyone know?

You're not Richards mammy are you?! I have been on a speedway bike before as it goes, but not i'm glad to say with a dislocated shoulder..even I'm not that mad! Personally i hope Rene is riding as he is always entertaining and gives it a crack.I was standing about twenty yards away from his crash at Owlerton on sunday and it was a scary one Here's hoping he's ok

As I go to Scunny AM meetings and love NL racing part of me is now thinking " Great that Tommy is being given a chance" but then realistically think this youngster is not ready for PL yet. BUT Edinburgh has no interest left in this competion and is doing a favour for one of their own youngsters ( yes I know he's a Scunny asset)..... To Tommy I say "Go out and score some points for the sake of both Edinburgh and Scunny" Thats a tough task for one whos only in his first year of speedway!....Rules, let fans make them, think they'd do a better job!

Looking like Rene's swelling has gone down, he definately gave us a scare on Sunday from where we were stood looked like he was going over the fence !!! Was talking to Richard after the Newcastle match and he said he had popped out his good shoulder I would imagine him being very sore this week. So Mr Cook would you lke to be a Comet again next season ? please have a bad night tomorrow . The lads will give 100% but I hold very little hope around Armadale not many teams take anything from there apart from their own track specialists , stay safe lads and the best of luck ...COME ON THE COMETS, we have them Scunnys sweating now , lol
