OveFundinFan 4,141 Posted March 15, 2017 (edited) Thanks for that superstars, reassures me that my decision to go to BT was the right one. Engineer should be around next Monday to sort it. having said that, 2 came on Monday to get some of the cabling in place but now big pow wow on how to get the fibre across the road (8yds), to a box in the ground at the back of my shed (20 yds), then to the house (6 yds). The BT deals are regular at the moment. Bit like DFS, one sale ends, another starts straight away. They are on a campaign at the moment. Noodles 1,337 Posted March 15, 2017 For those looking to change their broadband to BT then BT have today launched a cracking deal for their unlimited infinity 1 fibre broadband: Can I just add that I have been with BT Broadband for two years now, switching to Infinity Fibre when it came online in my village. I get 52 Meg download speed that never varies, and in two years it has been totally reliable, with the connection never having failed. There have been cheaper deals out there, but BT seem to be doing a tremendous amount of marketing at the moment for all their products, and I wouldn't dream of changing as its been so reliable. I just thought I would mention that as many of you must be looking at BT broadband and BT sport products at the moment. I have been with BT since December and I am more then happy with everything so far. I've had no problems and my cash back was paid promptly. Definitely happy I made the switch from Sky.

flagrag 704 Posted March 15, 2017 The Netball Coverage is part funded by the governing body and they have a very good sponsor in Vitality who all help to keep Netball on Sky Sports if not i suspect that they would have been in a similar position to Speedway. That does beg the question - how can flaming Netball attract a very good Sponsor and Speedway can't? Who is responsible for attracting Speedway Sponsors and, perhaps more importantly, are they for for purpose?

Who is responsible for attracting Speedway Sponsors and, perhaps more importantly, are they for for purpose? Yes, it did make me think about that issue. At first glance, and wearing my sexist hat, I thought Vitality their main sponsor may be some sort of female hygiene product. But it is actually health insurance. In fact most of their sponsors of the last few years have been major players. They do have their share of the 'female-only' product sector but where they have really scored is promoting the wider 'female heath' connection. Showing sponsors just how they can put them in front of the high-spending 'women interested in their health' sector very cost effectively. And there lies the Problem. The Speedway demographic is fairly valueless to most big spending sectors of the market. What can the Sport offer even for a niche company. Worthers Original, Fisherman's friends, Tena Pads, Orthopedic chairs, Viagra. I suppose there are possibilities ? What about Oil Firms - I remember in the good old days when it was the 'Gulf Oil British League'. There must be Motor Oil or Supply Firms out there.

Trees 2,814 Posted March 15, 2017 Who goes to the shops and buys Oil ? It is 2017 not 1975. Ought to be a petrol/diesel company, everyone spends tons of money on the stuff getting to meetings!

Grand Central 2,654 Posted March 15, 2017 (edited) Ought to be a petrol/diesel company, everyone spends tons of money on the stuff getting to meetings! Really ? That BP, Shell, Texaco or Esso would get a increase in 'public awareness' to be cost effective. By sponsoring the piddling sport of Speedway. As this thread shows Speedway Supporters will go and get the cheapest deal on anything. I bet most buy their fuel at Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. No amount of sponsorship would overide 1p a litre saved. No one wants to advertise on Tv in a Speedway programme. They have to give it away. It is cloud cuckoo land to even think of major companies sponsoring our sport. Regional Truck Hire that's about the pinnacle of what we can expect. And then be damned grateful.
