Hawk127 1,359 Posted November 29, 2017 Saturday nights without Belle Vue, Coventry, Swindon, Kings Lynn etc have never been the same That should be THE night for track attending Friday nights too, Wolverhampton, Hackney etc Ah them good old days! Wholeheartedly agree. Yes it is harping back to the good old days but being at Rayleigh and getting the many results through from the other clubs racing was always great and we were lucky to have Hackney on. Friday, Rayleigh on Saturday and could look forward to some great local derbies against Romford, Eastbourne, Canterbury, Crayford, Ipswich and Peterborough. Such a shame that so many clubs and characters have long since passed into history. For those fans who were not around at the time, criticise the old timers but the atmosphere and friendly rivalry was second to none so if you were not around don’t mock as you have no idea. Today is different but not the same and perhaps supporters were speedway fans then rather than club, SGP and world cup followers
Skidder1 7,636 Posted November 29, 2017 I do hope so.Saturday nights without SGP wouldn't be the same. The BT/SGP/BSI contract is totally separate from any BT/BSPA arrangement.

flagrag 704 Posted November 29, 2017 If there is no British Speedway on tv in 2018 the blame will firmly be due to certain promotors thinking they know best. A deal has been offered and and even better offer has been made yet some BSPA members still want more which they are unlikely to get so take it or leave it. As a Speedway supporter I hope they hurry up and sign the contract before BT move onto another sport.

Tom Thumb 81 Posted November 29, 2017 The quality is likely to be dodgy at best. Why? Have been watching Cycle Speedway World Championships for last few weeks on Periscope from Australia without major issues. Not thinking about TV quality but the reason for the threats of bans was because of TV rights, so at least you could see the basics.

Some of the quality has been near awful but on the whole okish with a good signal. Love periscope for all the cycle speedway stuff tho, including all the major British events over here too.

PHILIPRISING 7,298 Posted November 30, 2017 (edited) Russell's have too much control over the tv rights for British Speedway HOW so? Anyone who knows Terry Russell would say that he is a shrewd negotiator. He acquires a deal but it is for the BSPA to ratify it. PHILIPRISING 7,298 Posted November 30, 2017 a shrewd negotiator ? he's had a year to get a new deal in place and there isn't one. AND you are blaming him for that? How naive you are...
Grachan 7,362 Posted November 30, 2017 a shrewd negotiator ? he's had a year to get a new deal in place and there isn't one. I thought he'd negotiated a deal but some members of the BSPA weren't keen to agree to it.
