Because it had been prepared properly and been soaked Wednesday and during the day on Thursday.  There was no dust whatsoever and on a day like Thursday that’s down to the expertise of Bob Ellis and the track staff.
unlike Birmingham the previous day.

But if the outside had a few sprinkles of water during the evening,,, wouldn't it have made an outside line to pass on,,, as well as inside, so in theory better racing.

Quite possibly but I’m no expert.  I know lots of riders hate watering during the meeting. Especially our Aussie friends usually.

There's a difference to doing it correctly like just giving the outside a water to create more grip and doing it incorrectly watering the whole track including the slicker areas turning into bend the riders hate.

Fair comment there apart from the knock at Birmingham where we would have considered it utopia had we been allowed to spend the whole of the previous day preparing the track!
