2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams

When was your last trip to Northampton raceway? -
Thanks Arthur

With the loss of Long Eaton.........

At least there still appears to be an actual base for a speedway track at Newcastle. One would need to be created at Sunderland & Nottingham stadiums, the latter not made easy by an apparent pond in situ on what would be the middle of bends 3&4. -
So Nagel is now just twice as good rather than ten times?

Prison is there to punish and rehabilitate. He's done his time, now we've got to hope the rehabilitation works. He has experience in two things - Speedway and crime. If we don't want him to return to crime, we need to push him down the path of an honest future. Sadly it seems the "Holier Than Thou" brigade want to push him down a path of crime, so they can say "I was right".

If it is Northampton whoever takes that on is going to need uber deep pockets and not blink at writing off six figures at the end of year one, really hope I'm wrong but its got financial disaster written all over it. Will need another Tolley type who can just write out cheques every month to cover the losses without worrying. -
Something always seems to go wrong when our Norfolk brethren start to catch up in a limited way with the sporting achievements of their Suffolk counterparts. I seem to recall that the Budgies couldn’t play in Europe when they finally did qualify. I suppose there might come a day when they win a European competition, the Division 1/Premiership or even the FA Cup. 😀

Always going to be that risk with any half decent youngster more so when this one other league and Poland only comes in.

King's Lynn Stars 2026

Or he takes off like Lambert........ -
Don't disagree a big part of the reason this side looks one of the best Lynn sides for years is down to the lack of teams in the top flight this year so the handful that are left should all get a lift by more riders chasing fewer spaces but it really is a dreadful state of affairs.
-
Looks decent would just be nice if they could find someone with more long term promise than Castanga other six tick all the boxes though.

Ipswich Witches 2026

I'd say that's exactly what to expect - at best!! - Today

I hope fans take this the right way & understand what I'm saying, but, I'M REALLY REALLY FECKED OFF by this team. In any season this could have been a successful, title challenging side. It's possibly title favourites for this season. Why now?? The league only has 4 teams in it, almost every British Speedway fan up and down the country is embarrassed by the state of the Premiership. I'm so so desperate for King's Lynn to win the "Top Flight" title but is this the season to be remembered for, for winning our first ever??? Please BSPL, find a way to make 2026 worth while & meaningful for everyone associated with King's Lynn's Stars 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Personally I'd recommend to a young rider to move up one step at a time, rather than making a massive jump. I hope it works out for him, but also feel "what's the rush"? One trick Lynn might have missed would be placing Rushen in the RS berth & if he becomes an overnight superstar, they'll be able to sign him in 2027 with 25% reduced from his average! I guess the only danger of that, would be a lower ranked team picking him first in the RS draft? That could only be a new club as only Oxford & Birmingham finished below them. But in that case could he not just do a "Jordan Jenkins" and sign for the club he wants to anyway?
-
Or: 3. The BSPL were hoping [in the words of Mr McCawber] that something might turn up.

If there is another 'unknown' team certain of coming to the tapes next season why is it being kept so secret? Surely you would want as many people aware as soon as possible to generate interest and sell season tickets (its called promoting!).The BSPL are happy to post anything on their website which they think might come across as positive (although some things are so trivial it makes you wonder who is that bothered), so why is everybody still waiting? -
Fricke Castagna Harris B Cook Kvech Rushen Scott so that’s the team then I’ve heard 👍🏻 from a decent source aswell
-
Another view is he could have continued and lost enough money to not be able to continue in 27. maybe the bombshell has just been dropped 12 months early. The end result is still the same.
-
Let's all get one thing clear. At best it will be 5 teams unless someone is prepared to underwrite another loss making venture.
-
The statement clearly said that ‘the Premiership will feature a minimum line up of five teams’. Therefore, one of the following must have been true at the time of the announcement: 1. The sale of the Witches was all but done bar the paperwork. or 2. A new team had agreed to run in 2026. Clearly, in light of the Louis update, 1. had not happened. If 2. had happened then would they not have been better off confirming that fact, even if it was subject to formal agreement at the AGM which surely would be a ‘give un’. I am not convinced that either of the above had/have happened. My view is that their preferred outcome is that the sale of the Witches is completed and that they compete in the 2026 Premiership. If this doesn’t happen, then I suspect that there is a cobbled together Plan B that they will fall back on.

Be happy if we sign Scott or Harrison to partner him
-
Delighted with the signings so far. Hopefully Cooper will have a long and successful career with the Stars. He’s fast enough already, it’s just the consistency at the starts he lacks. But can’t wait to watch him develop over the course of the season.

For all of buster and dales faults and there is plenty can't moan at the side they're putting together this season

Cooper Rushen joins the Stars at reserve for the 2026 season.Big step up but one I enjoyed watching last year as a Young Star.
