doesn’t leave much for the no 6. rising star position will be interesting too. Initial thoughts were hodder due to his links with the previous NDL team but with his recent leg injury will anyone take that risk?

I like the sound of Flint and Thompson leading the line. I think there’s a lot of potential there and significantly more to come. Both continuing their development in the Premiership and abroad can only benefit us. -
I still hope so. I see a hunger and potential in him.

Just like Tom Brennan...? 😁 "Supported his career" over two whole seasons ..?😄

Now that Tom has confirmed he is having double surgery this winter to remove metal work from both legs could this have played a part in Mayfields decision not to renew his contract. Concerns over fitness and all that. -
Same as Ipswich with continuity 2023 Doyle Emil King Thompson Rew All part of the team in the 2024 cup winning side and then 4 of them in the title winning side … Jenkins and Edwards also in the team in those seasons as well Ellis was sacked by Sheffield so we didn’t have to do any poaching and Brennan needed to leave a club that was not paying its riders after Belle Vue showed him the door…. We couldn’t keep Rew after he demanded pay the same as Doyle and Ipswich won’t overpay for a rider Continuity isn’t always possible as Belle Vue have found before with Lidsey and Brennan Shame with what happened at Ipswich at the end of 2025 otherwise Doyle and Ellis would have still been in the side … Dan Thompson was already going to Leicester as he had a sponsorship deal Ipswich couldn’t match Now we have to rebuild after a season of just staying alive so hopefully moving forward Bewley and Cairns if they sign will be part of Ipswich for years to come

Emil has renewed his contract in Denmark. I think that rules him out not because of rule but because he is happy only doing Poland & one other league. From what he said during his time at Ipswich about spending time with his family I really can’t see him doing Poland on a Sunday the Uk on a Monday/Thursday & Denmark on a Wednesday. I’d have him back at Ipswich in a heartbeat. -
AGM / 2027 UPDATE (23 October)

Actually, small private limited companies like the BSPL do not have to hold an Annual General Meeting at all (unless their articles actually stipulate the need for one). If you did have an independent management committee they would have to report to somebody and that somebody would be the BSPL. It is very conceivable that the plans for next season have indeed (and hopefully) been discussed during the past months but there is no beneficial reason or requirement to inform others until all matters are in place. -
I admire the sentiment, those riders have been loyal and it has been great watching their progress, however if it doesn't pay off we will be looking for reinforcements mid season where there will be few options for us to bring in. Hope I'm wrong but feel that this is a big gamble and just when on-track success means bigger crowds at BV.

i think you are close with that
-
Seen a couple suggestions of ben cook to Sheffield. A team with J.Holder, Picko, Brennan and Him would be very strong
-
What’s the rumoured 1-7 then? I’m going to go for Kurtz, Zischke, Blodorn, Z.Cook plus another in the top 5 maybe pawelczak?

In an ideal world yes but if they are of the required standard, there have been similar issues in the past where the inclusion of riders to fulfil a criteria e.g under X age / average have led to places given to those clearly not ready for the step up and because of that many decent emerging talents have been lost to the sport. -
ive already told you, we are respecting the riders that did so well last season, and rightly so despite some very high averages, they deserve a 2nd chance, if it dont work we will look at things mid season. mark loves continuity, and so do i, so while we will have the worst team on paper, its a team i will back as they brought so much joy last season

I wonder what Belle Vue are up to? No Lidsey, No B. Cook and No Bewley. A big Club like Belle Vue must have an Ace to play if your pardon the pun.

agreed, should never be able to drop below at least a four. i also think there should be two british riders at reserve at the start of each season. -

The Championship being too strong is part of the problem, makes the jump too big for a lot of riders. -
I wish him all the best if thats the case, unfortunately he never really looked comfortable round Lynn after his nasty crash when he badly broke his wrist. Backed out of too many tight situations at the AFA last season and its probably a good move for him. Never really reliable on the smaller tracks either.

They did say that last season's plans were for three years didn't they?... Or was it two??? Either way, I presume all is sorted for 2027 and it is "as you were".... With maybe a TV deal on a mainstream or satellite channel as potentially being the main difference . -
Unless it's a combination of a hard no from him and difficulties with visas, I am amazed that no-one is pulling up trees to get Emil back in the UK, especially Ipswich. Mayfield's MO is to improve the product in this country and Emil literally puts bum on seats where ever he goes in this country.

Irritates the life out of me the Grmek is available on 3.56. The fact that assessed foreign riders can drop under their assessment figure ridiculous and detrimental to British riders. That said why are so many Brits failing to make any real impression in the CL? Foord and Hodder lack some technical basics and blow hot and cold, Perry always gets mentions but rarely delivers. Hagon and Smith have all the backing but miss something to progress. I question the 2.00 lower limit encourages riders to be signed but with a green light for failure rather than be aspirational it has an approach of anything scored is a bonus. -
AGM / 2027 UPDATE (23 October)
False dawn replied to Roger Jacobs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Technically all correct, I'm sure. However, we, as fans, have been looking for a clear process of management of our sport for many years. For me, that is a "management committee" who do not have a vested interest or it is a meeting of all promoters. We now appear to have neither. The process of setting the scene for next season is now invisible to the average fan. "Discussions that have taken place already" sounds like secret squirrels or as we used to say, the powers that be meeting in smoke filled rooms. If the AGM is so redundant in terms of establishing the key rules and regs for next season, why have one? And for those promoters not "on the inside", what say do they have in shaping of our sport?
