With Laurence Rogers at the helm, it's bound to be!
-
-
Yes sadly Laurence and Gareth Rogers were brought up on Christchurch Road in Newport. Both attended St. Julian's School and are these days better known as Newport's general manager and Redcar's media officer respectively. Laurence takes charge of the Wasps because normal team manager Kevin Brown is unavailable, the same reason Gareth is on duty instead of Redcar's Brian Havlock. Laurence has held managerial positions with many clubs throughout his speedway career while Gareth has concentrated more on the promotional side of the sport.

Great news. Hope it’s a roaring success.

Buxton were the only Team to stick to the principles that the League was formed for,the others started paying over the odds and look what developed from that.A financial mess that the sport is now in.

I've just looked on google maps at the Northampton track. On satellite view the entry to the bends looks very narrow. Factor in the width of a airfence panel and I would say its almost impossible to get good racing there.

Smarslik can pass though that’s the difference. He not a 6 times World Champion for nothing.Quite a few don’t want to give him the credit he deserves.Peter Oakes in SS being one of them. His column was sour grapes. -
And I'm sure that everyone will be given a warm wet windy sunny welcome in the snow in July.😁

I( used to love my trips to Buxton when Newcastle Gems were there. Good luck to them.

I don't think people are bothered about a speedway rider/ sportsman changing their nationality necessarily, but they absolutely should not be able to represent their 'new' nation in a senior event if they have already done so for their original country (a la football). -

THE DEAN MACHINE replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is what he wants but this is either going to happen in 2026 or not at all or at least at its current location and the longer it drags on the less hopeful I am that it’s going to happen -
I think that is the better option for Tolley. Look at the clubs Rogers has been involved with and most have closed down while he was there. No one person can consistently be that unlucky.

Mmm apols for getting Bewley polish track wrong ……seems he likes it nonetheless😂 stand by my other two comments ….. “ anyone can pass” 😂😂😂 on a slick track prepared by Morris ?? Well yes SGP boys passed NDL standard riders …… but not much else. Australia still have a shout …. If Kurtzy’s partner be it Doyley or mad Jack can learn to gate. Not so keen on Poland as Smarslik not the most consistent gater . Bewdley and Lambo will struggle neither are great gater and Bewdley will find the outside strip blocked by the more savvy top riders Still Lady Luck will prevail …….😂😊 come on Team GB prove me wrong 🏴

Between 1896 and 1902, this fellow called Ranjitsinhji played for England. Not a new phenomenon! -

... Would you say that you're a tad obsessed with Kelvin Tatum... I stopped at page 2 of your comments with Mr Tatum as life is too short 👍 -
Hopefully Buxton do make a return, i will definitely make a visit next season if they do.

Time will tell won't it, if he's a special talent or if his sudden upturn in form (which to be fair has lasted for a couple of years now) is a flash in the pan. There are so many riders through the years that find the winning formula but are then just unable to repeat it and spend the rest of their careers in search of it, despite changing everything and then returning to what got them success in the first place. Of course there are other factors in play, I'm just saying that sometimes some engines are more equal than others it just the way they come off the assembly line, nothing untoward going on from any riders. -
What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
1 valve replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Far from a “massive” assumption. It is worth considering that only one of the 23 riders listed likely to give the uk a miss should one league & reduction in fixed race nights materialise, only one, Dan Bewley is British whilst the majority of the remainder don’t actually reside in the UK. -

You telling me that Tony Greig and Basil D'Oliveira weren't 100% English??? -
The soul of British speedway is back, it’s a stain on the history of this British speedway that it was allowed to close in the first place but it’s back and we move forward, good luck to all involved up in them there hills

GP line-up for 2026
PersonalResponsibility replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's an average score across a season in the best league in the world, why wouldn't you base a lot of your decision on it? Ben Cook managed to finish 17th once (from only 8 meetings) and I'm not sure why Kolodziej is mentioned, he won a GP in 2019, he wasn't some no-hoper. I think you've also made the point perfectly above: when Kurtz qualified. He was good enough, so he qualified. If there are any other youngsters good enough then they can qualify too. Everyone wants to see new faces and new battles, but nobody ever suggests any realistic names. There are no youngsters now that would provide a genuine challenge. Parnitskyi and Przyjemski will doubtless get there in years to come, but they would struggle next year. -
The reason Buxton closed was because the likes of cradley and Kent and others were paying stupid points money to riders to ride in the national league and Buxton simply couldn’t do that and it became impossible to field a competitive team, until the last couple of seasons Buxton were pretty much the only team sticking to the pay scales and even when they went over them to compete it was less than half what others were paying

Giving the idiots who organized this ridiculous format an uppercut would be more appropriate. With half the competitors 2 or 3 levels below the top riders why would you expect a crowd. One of the world's best stadiums/venues and nobody in it. Put the lesser teams in a B competition and have them ride at venues where national pride ensures home crowd involvement.
