  2. Personally think this is two good changes and were needed. Sedgmen has struggled all season at home his last two performances there were shocking. As for Kerr we’ve seen again that when not at the number 6 reserve more times than not he doesn’t score his average (that 16 at King’s Lynn has given him a bit of an artificially high average). For the two new signings Etheridge was on the Sheffield radar for a 2024 team spot following his Play Off final performance at Owlerton but points wouldn’t fit him in, he’ll definitely score more than Sedgmen at home, away just depends what tracks Sheffield have left to visit. Morris has to be race rusty, hopefully he’s managed to get some new kit under him, if he can pick up 6-8 points from 4 rides home and away don’t think much more can be asked for

  4. What a feast of legends in that first sentence Mike how we were spoiled in the past with such great riders en masse.
  5. Lejonen team manager more or less said that he thinks it's better to finish 4th then to win the league so I don't expect Lejonen to bother.
  6. Fingers crossed if true that the new owners are good people Phil.

  8. He was banned for refusing a test. Same as any sportsperson who refuses a test or misses a random test without a very good reason.
  9. MDL WOLVES SEAL 2025 MDL TITLE WITH WIN OVER DUCTAIR BULLS The 2025 Midland Development League title was secured by the WOLVES with one meeting to come with a 24-12 win over the Birmingham DUCTAIR Bulls. The Wolves started in the best possible way with an opening heat 5-1 from skipper Ryan Ashcroft and his 15 year old team partner Dylan Huthwaite , who again impressed. Bulls Jacob Fellows made a lightning gate in heat 2 with Harley Driscoll-Freeman chasing him hard. The Wolves were on maximum form again in heat 3 as Ashcroft and Huthwaite posted another 5-1 maximum heat win to put them 8 ahead at 13-5. Harrison Rogers impressively took the win in heat 4 from Joe Crewe and Bailey Fellows and the Wolves all but had the title in the bag at 16-8 . The success was achieved in heat 5 as skipper Ashcroft secured another 9 point max and with Harley Driscoll-Freeman taking third ahead of Jack Crewe the Wolves 4-2 made it 20-10. Harrison Rogers and Dylan Huthwaite added a final heat 4-2 to make it 24-12. In the 125cc support races Oscar Berwick secured a 9 point max after some hard battles with Charlie Fletcher with visiting young Scottish racer Lewis Hague third. In the B group young Scot Callum Hague won his three rides with girl racer Lily Bence having her best meeting yet with three 2nd spots. Cody Smith finished on 2 and AJ Bence 1. 10. Kirky Lane delivered some very good racing until Air Fences came in and took away the wider outside run that the likes of Screen, Ott, Ermolenko, Adams, Hamill, Crump, Nielsen, Trick etc etc all used to great effect... It was designed as a "small track that rode like a big one", with very wide bends for its overall size.. When the Air Fences came in, it then became very much "standard UK fayre", of fill your programme in after bend three, lap one... Monmore went a similar way after they reconfigured the bend two fence to make the entry on to the track.. , As the equipment changed, these tracks of those shapes sadly didn't deliver the same level of entertainment that they once did... Anyone watching on TV would keep far more interested I would think if the racing had plenty of passing, rather than reinforcing the view that so many hold of whoever gets out of the start first always wins, no matter how close the rider is behind for four laps.. The devoted fans may love watching tight technical battles but the vast majority of any Motorsport followers, (and commentators), are very much in it for the passing that takes place, and the excitement it generates... Hence sporting bodies like F1 (a sport whose reputation was 100% "follow the leader"), keep making restrictions and changes to car specs to try and keep racing closer and more competitive, and use "gadgets" like DRS used to increase passing opportunities... Watching Kurtz, Lambert, BZ, Bewley, Doyle, and Emil in particular, all fly around the NSS, passing rivals just inches from the fence at high speed, is surely the ultimate in bravery and skill on a Speedway bike, and why people go to watch the sport?
  11. I mean Scotty will score more than Kerr but if I was Rob Lyon I want Klindt in as many heats as possible. Always has ridden Leicester well.
  12. I was brought up on speedway at Hyde Road, then we had Kirky Lane, now the NSS, ive seen good meetings and bad at all three, i remember Kings Lynn and Cradley producing great racing along with smaller tracks like Wimbledon, Newport (Somerton Park), Monmore Green and even Crayford, there was no bickering about racing on different tracks then, obviously pre internet, i think a contributing factor today are the modern machines are more geared for the bigger faster tracks, no doubt if Mondays meeting doesnt produce good racing people will be critical of that sometimes you cant win too much racing or not enough, either way i dont think the skill of the riders can be questioned.
  13. Anothr crap meeting for the brummies, we cant gate on our own track, roll on Sheffield might mange 40 points.
  14. Well that’s certainly buggered that then. Any chance now firmly gone out of the window.
  15. Would Beau come in on a 4 or a 5? with Lawson who’s average will be above 9 Rowe will be around 8 and then Cairns who might be close to 4 Bailey also a 4/5 and Rushen on a 2. Would be an exciting start to the team building. I expect Zach to return as I don’t see him making the same step than Ben did. Lawson 9.2 Approx rowe 8 Approx cairns 4 Approx Bailey 4 or 5? Rushen 2 = 28ish would leave potentially 12 points for the final 2 spots, plenty of room to go big with a 8 pointer or strength in depth
  16. Strange how some complain theres a lot of passing then complain if the meeting isnt up to normal standards. I think fans of the technical (sorry trick) tracks in a lot of cases are just trying to justify their own tracks shortcomings for good racing. A racetrack isnt a racetrack if the only passing you get is when the rider in front makes a mistake otherwise its sit on the white line and job done. Some must have thought Birmingham last night was a great meeting, Hyde Road, NSS, or Kirky Lane no brainer isnt it?
  17. the bates apparently lost a massive contract for there business, and since then have struggled, sad to see, but im sure you will be in safe hands next year under a new owner/s
  18. there are some unbelievable racing on small tracks, wolves use to be brilliant, oxford when prepped right is fantastic, but theres the word, prepped right, more ofted than not it isnt prepped for racing sadly.
  19. I know its been said to death a thousand plus times but yet again credibility shot to bits in that Leicester will most likely go on and win now thanks to the efforts of a lad who doesn't actually ride for either teams starting 1-7.
  20. Imagine how much Sheffield would've owed in wages if Woffinden was still in the team as well. Now everything makes sense in regards to 2026. Are Nick Morris and Jye Etheridge an improvement on Lewis Kerr and Justin Sedgmen, I'd say no with a lot of confidence. Were Lewis Kerr and Justin Sedgmen just riding poorly on purpose because they were owed money is the question.
  21. If true something must have seriously gone wrong as the people in charge have been there for many years with no issues as far as I am aware, and surely crowds can't have completely fell off a cliff compared to 3-4 years ago ?
  22. Scotty in for Ben Cook doesn't scare me as a Lions fan. Good rider but I still can't see him getting the better of Leicester's top 3. I think this just means Klindt may not do 7 rides.
  23. I guess for your first point Berwick had a number one who wasn't turning up so can understand their choice of signing, while Sheffield didn't have time to see if Morris found form due to the cut-off date. Totally agree with everything in the second part of your post.
