    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

SIMON Lambert has been named Scunthorpe Scorpions captain for the upcoming season. It’s a huge honour for the Lincolnshire-based racer who re-joined the club for his second spell midway through the 2019 campaign. A string of solid performances from Lambert meant he secured a place in the Scorpion’s side for the following year before league racing was cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the departure of Jake Allen the experienced Brit will now take over as club captain for 2021, but he is no stranger to the role having been skipper at Boston and Peterborough in years gone by. A delighted Lambert said: “I am very honoured and proud to be named captain of Scunthorpe this year. It’s not only a proud moment for me but also my family. “It’s great news for my sponsors and fans who have supported me throughout my career. I will be doing my very best to keep the team spirit high within the team. I will be behind all the boys 100 per cent and who knows we might be able to lift a trophy by the end of the year. “It’s a massive boost for me before the start of the season and like I say, it is a big and proud moment for me having been captain at Peterborough and Boston before now. I can’t wait to get going and lead the team for the first time against Plymouth on May 21.”

whilst i am aware of who said rider is, i dont think the team will be that bad at home.. yeah we're gonna take some absolute thrashings away (just not at plymouth, the oap's will be begging for their retirement home by then) but we should be ok at home

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

Personally, even though Rob's honouring his commitments, I'd personally go for Batchelor for Allen Connor Mountain for Pijper Ryan Kinsley for Lambert but thats not gonna happen, sadly.... If the team isn't going to be competitive, I shall be going to support Sheffield in the premiership most weeks, as much as I have time and respect for rob, is it too much to ask as a loyal supporter of 15 years for a successful season

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

I'd still personally make 3 changes, not that I can see Rob doing that.. personally, i just cant wait to be back on the terraces with me mates, and got a plymouth/poole away holiday in mind too, even though we're gunna get smashed

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

You never know in speedway, if one or two of them get injured, that could be their chances gone, look at us a couple of yrs ago with Steve... I wouldn't hit the panic button yet, I'm sure our brilliant leader and chairman has a plan in mind to make us competitive come May or whenever we're starting
  19. Ryan Kinsley, shame he's not snapped up in the Championship this season, did a decent enough job for us in 2019

    Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020

To all involved in British Speedway. As you may have read by now through club statements it is with deep regret that I have had to pull out of competing in British Speedway in 2021, due to the current situation with regards to Covid19, there can be no guarantees regarding the number of meetings that will take place and unfortunately this has cost me my place in British Speedway for 2021 It is a simple case of not being in a position to afford to race professionally after the financial losses of 2020, as an Aussie I am unable to support myself financially in the UK as Visa restrictions do not allow me to work other than race Speedway, and therefor if the season of 2021 is cancelled then I can not guarantee that I would be in a position to return home, plus even if I managed to get home there is a compulsory quarantine at a cost of around $3500. It is extremely disappointing that I will miss the 2021 season, I believe I have improved as a rider over the past few seasons and still believe that I have the ability to play a key role in British Speedway, I genuinely enjoy all aspects of being able to compete in British Speedway and I will be spending all my time throughout the remainder of this year to come back in 2022, please understand that having to take a year out of racing is not what any rider wants to do but I want everyone involved in British Speedway to understand that I am 100% committed to British racing when circumstances allow. I still have a long journey ahead in this sport and racing in the UK is a key aspect of this journey. I want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season in 2021, and I will see everyone soon. All the best, Jake Allen.
  25. Hi Folks, Bit of a long shot here.. but does anyone know the best person to get in touch with regarding Weymouth DVDS from 2005 to 2010 please? Many Thanks SD
