    Kiosks

All right Old Ace - I may be the only one who wonders. Which ticket kiosks , Where?

    Will British Speedway Survive ?

Step forward Barry Bishop - kneel and Arise Sir Barry. And onwards to the deserved speedway sainthood status. Please foward some DNA and I will attempt to clone 50 Promoters, who can work together to ensure the speedway racing does survive.
  3. To Peter Collins - remember just how you were adored by so many and are still olved by them, for what you did and how you did it. Pure class for sure, a true speedway racer.

    SPEEDWAY AND MASS GATHERINGS

Times do indeed change. No-one now has any savings to fall back on for a rainy day. I don't think we can blame austerity for that.
  5. Did you go with Chequers Travel in 1976? I remember it so vividily, the whole trip and having to buy zlotys before you entered the country. The only thing I found worth buying in the shops was quite good quality monochrome photograph paper. Stupendous Peter Collins effort! The whole trip by coach was £41.
  6. And mine too. Especially memorable as we crowded round his car when he arrived and he got out on my side and stood on my foor in the crush. True story and it was his left foot too! I have washed it since, but not for quite a while afterwards. I was 18 and at the peek of my speedway madness. I got a lift over from Norwich ( where I then lived ) to join the King's Lynn coach ( and sing The Hairs on a..... ) Those were the days! I remember coming to blows with fans from the distant North who supported Eric Boocock. As a child at Norwich , taken by my speedway crazy parents - on the back of their bicycles, I never really took much notice until Ove arrived there and became my first speedway hero.

    King's Lynn Stars 2020

I would like to mourn the passing of Stars superfan and season ticket holder - David Mckuen, who passed away last week after a short illness. David was devoted to the Stars and attended every year since they opened ( and also the Linnets football team ). He was a kind and generous man who went out of his way to give me a lift to Stars matches. If you knew him on the first bend terraces, join me in a There You Go friend salute. R.I.P. David. God Bless.
  8. Great and hopefully it will happen here and hopefully it will still cost five pfennigs to get in. Even I could afford it then.
  9. Geoff is an Enormous Fan of finger wagging and caning and all such corporal punishment for crimes ay any level.

    Virtual Speedway

I will put up a cup for the League Champions IF it is not done on a Play Off basis. Bit old school me - oops sorry "dinosaur" I have been told. Put in a King's Lynn team ( without Craig Cppk ) for me and I will nominate another unattached rider.
  11. Me too, I was a regular and rode down from Northampton, where I then lived on my R75/5 Great Days and Great speedway racing.

    Corona virus

I believe that you are quite right about this and I too am shocked that no real comparison is being drawn. Supposedly killed 8,000 here last winter but no lockdown of society and no headlines. The problem seems to be the speed at which Covid 19 spreads ( wether checked by any means or not checked ). If 260,000 would die here from Covid 19 if not stopped, that would be a national disaster and vastly worse than any normal flu season.

    Lambert to comeback stronger.?

I too have watched speedway for many years ( 1949 ) but I don't remember much of that until Ove Fundin came to Norwich . I watched Robert from his earliest National League laps at Saddlebow Road and I genuinely believe he has what it takes to move up the last cpuple of steps from 2018. Dan Bewley looked almsot as good as Lambo until his horrific accident. He looks as if he will come back well too. Lambo will be World Champion ( if he gets the one or two lucky breaks, that anyone needs to get there - to the very top ). Good luck to Drew Kemp too.

    Will British Speedway Survive ?

Everyone comments on the Government propping up this and supporting that. Yes, of course it's not an endless pot of money - our money - the G. has none of it's own ( other than the around £500 billion they are borrowing on our behalf , for us to pay back ). I agree that the next ten years will be spent ( as the last 10 or so were ) in rebuilding the economy and Yes, income tax and VAT will have to rise. How else do you pay off the biggest ever debt? And Boris's bold statement of " We will send it packing in 12 weeks" will be yet another foolish utterance and words he will later choke on. The way he has led the handling of the Covid19 crisis, marks the end of his Premiership.

    Lambert to comeback stronger.?

Doing too much riding in 2019 ( even for a young gun who lives, eats and breathes speedway ) and having at least two injuries to carry, defintely took the edge off Robert's riding last season. There is no doubt in my mind that he will return to the glorious form of 2018 before long. He is destined for the very top and will be World Champion before he is 30 ( so plenty of time! )
  16. About time we changed the title of this thread to "Will the Premiership start?" Possibly even adding " Ever again"

    Corona virus

It seems that securing even a single crumpet in perfect condition to feast upon ( covered in butter ) is becomg the biggest of all the challenges during the Covid19 "war". It has never been so hard.

    Will British Speedway Survive ?

Some tracks might make more money through any possible compo than they would if they were running a full lossmaking season!

Polish Speedway Postponed until May 22nd

It looks more an more likely that the health situation in Poland will not allow it. More likely 17 / 19 July ( if the situation allows then )

    Ipswich 2020

There you have it. If this is correct then over the next five years UK speedway will not survive. No sizeable public interest or support equals no UK speedway ( as we know it ).
  21. Anything goes - sp long as it is - totally isolating. The only thing that can slow down or halt the spread is "social distancing" . That is at least four feet plus away from anyone ( meaning everyone other than those in your house already with you ). That and washing your hands after touching door handles etc that A.N.Other has touched - genuinely is the key.

    Corona virus

It's almost certainly not a threat to Dan Bewley as he is young and fit, but yes stand well back. his older relatives and family friends. Anyone who cannot see that it is a major threat to the over 60s and those with major medical complication and conditions is short sighted, unthinking and .......

    Ipswich 2020

Yes, that is they whole point of speedwat RACING, all four riders were genuinely interested in scoring points and were fully prepared to give it a go! IF 50% of speedway races were like this ( rather than 10 -15 % ) the crowds would be there on the terraces. includng clubs being able to attract new fans!

    Will British Speedway Survive ?

Clearly when Poole drpped down into the lower level of the Championship after all those years, it has had a significant effect on the fragility of sppedway as we know it in the UK. So, Yes, much of the blame lies there.
  25. Thought you probably would.
